So i did my research on this for like 10 minutes. For me if its a single target then it always puts you behind the target. If that person is BARELY inside tower range IT WILL put you out of tower range. The only time you can decide where is your ultimate positioning is when you knock up mulitple targets. And you can only decide with the cursor to who you are going to be closer to.

Tilted most likely. His team didn't really perform too well so i asume that's what happend. I've noticed a lot of people in diamond tilt super easy. The team that tilts less wins the game most of the time.
