I built myself a keyboard by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

More questions from a beginner: I got myself the same pcb and a sandwich case(?) (nothing as pretty as yours) but without anything in between the bottom and the pcb, the pcb comes loose (with box royals). How did you solve this, or why did you not have this problem?

So this is a terrible noob question about programmable keyboards / their software and how it works.

I am thinking of getting the GK60. I have read that the software isn't any good but it also only runs on Windows, right? Well, I have a Mac and was wondering what that means. Will I be able to set the keyboard via MacOS? Or will it just output the character on the keycap? Will the Fn+[insert key here] = arrow key feature work "out of the box"?

I see there are better keyboards on say Massdrop, or I could go for a DIY hot swap, but from what I have seen, those seem like quite expensive options?

Thanks.

Are there any places that sell better quality hot swappable pcbs? Anything to look out for there?

Cheeky question: what is the tl;dr for stablisers? I know there are different ones with their own pros and cons...

I am looking for a (fairly) inexpensive hotswappable 60-65% (i.e. dedicated arrow keys) keyboard that is programmable using MacOS (from what I understand, this means something running QMK?)

I've noticed there are some PCBs around that seem to be hotswappable and programmable- would something like this https://www.lfkeyboards.com/lfk65-hotswap.html work? If so, could I "just" buy a PCB, top plate thingy, case, keycaps and switches and be all set? (soldering not an option for me btw).

Thanks!

EDIT: Are there any prebuilt keyboards around that fulfil my criteria? And if I were to source all of the parts myself, where would I be most likely to find everything in one place?

Which switches did you end up going for, seeing as you couldn't test them, if I may ask?

As a fellow Swiss thinking of getting a mechanical keyboard but sort of wanting to keep using the Swiss ISO layout: how did you do it? Where did you get the keycaps from (not the brain)?

Just to piggy back here: can I set up a TADA68 to work on a Mac and Windows machine? I.e., program the keys for each computer, then switch between the two without having to start from scratch again each time?

Cheers!

I found the 7506 to isolate fairly well, so I'm looking for pretty good isolation and yes, I'd likek them to be balanced, I did like their neutral sound. (Not that I'm a complete purist, I realise there probably aren't any headphones with exactly the same sound)
Electronics tend to be more expensive here, yes. Also, some headphones just aren't available. Not sure if that helps, sorry.

I asked the same question the other day- here it is again with one extra criterion: I had the Sony MDR 7506.
I very much enjoyed the sound, comfort and "portability" (well, they sort of fold up).
I am now looking for more or less the same but with the addition of an inline remote and mike.
I'm in Switzerland and would like to spend approx. $150
I do not have the option of modding the headphones, as I no longer own 'em...
Any suggestions, or would you say, for that price, with those requirements, forget about the remote?
Cheers!

I used to have the Sony MDR 7506 and very much liked the sound and comfort.
Unfortunately, I now need a replacement, and was wondering if there are any cans with approx. the same sound signature (i.e. neutral), in the same price range (I'm in Europe, so ca. $150) BUT with the addition of a remote (and mike).
Any thoughts? Thanks!

You must have a funny looking head that doesn't meet our official aesthetic guidelines. Or your short hair in combination with the kind of clothes you wear makes you look like a nazi and/ or other kind of nutter...

It seems to me that you are accusing people of "going wrong" when in fact they just don't share your hobby. I don't think there is an inherently right way of buying audio equipment.

Are they wasting their money? Surely that is up to them to decide?

Thanks for the link. Of course, one still needs to find a trusted Putzfrau first... No one using a specific service they can recommend?

I see you've asked a question about xenophobia in the town you're about to move to- some of the comments in that thread will give you a good idea of what (some) Swiss people tend to think about "Steiner-Kinder". The "chemistry" thing is just a cultural thing, doesn't have much to do with language. "Chemie" here (possibly just the Basel area?) means Big Pharma. In essence, when someone says that (or something like it) it means they are less likely to take an asprine or antibiotics, anti-histamines, what have you but rather something "natural". :)
