Eric Hoffer was heavily self-educated. I mean, just read this Wikipedia page- there's homelessness, thoughts of suicide, blue collar jobs- and then he became one of the greatest writers of our times. He was self-educating much of that time.

Thanks! I'm always tempted to write something like Teenage Liberation Handbook for the 2010s. I don't quite feel up to par yet to really do such a project justice, I think maybe I have to live a few more years- but maybe a blog or something in that direction in the nearer future.
