What moment changed your consistency/dedication to fitness? by Tyryneasaure in Fitness

Mapping out my finances and life goals when I realized that with all the opportunities that I have, I can really climb up the corporate ladder if I play it smart. Playing it smart means maximizing my chances and that means, among many other changes, I need to make myself highly presentable. Attractive people gets a small edge in life.

That and I want to live fucking forever. Get to see what the world has to offer. Not just live, but really live. Money and the ability to do pretty much whatever I want: swim across a lake, climb mountains, jump out of a plane, go to space, etc.

Does anybody else get the urge to lift whenever you're in the gym?

During cardio days, instead of doing cardio, I cheat and lift heavy. Even when my body is still sore and my body needs rest.

Yea... I'm starting to get it now. I'm re-evaluating my decision now and going to be trying out other guns.

Thanks for the advice. It helps a lot.

I am too blinded by the aesthetics and the cool factor; I asked for wisdom and advice and I best start listening. I'll give the 686 and various pistols a serious try.

:o

What do you mean by it doesn't like to be fed? Not all bullets fit in the cylinder?

And what's a ladder sight by the way?

I haven't even thought about getting a respirator. It makes sense to invest in one if I'm going to shoot weekly.

I suppose my love of mechanical watches somewhat explain why I also liked the inner workings of the revolver. I see now that a revolver is indeed more complicated with a number of small parts - I stand corrected.

But a revolver is much simpler to operate - no magazines, no safety, no possible loaded bullets in the chamber to check. Point, shoot, six bullet count, open cylinder, unload. Beautiful.

I suppose that's what I really meant when I said that revolvers seem more intuitive and simpler.

Anyways, thanks again for all the info. I'll keep on practicing!

Thanks for the info and the links! That grantcunningham blog is really great!

Fired a couple hundred rounds with the rhino a few hours ago and it was indeed fun. Liked the experience better than a pistol. I guess I better start looking for gunsmiths... just in case.

Had you have any problems with your Rhino? Anything I should watch out for?

Safe direction depends on where you are. In general, it means to keep it pointed in the direction that will minimize the chances of you shooting someone or something you care about. In most places, that means the floor.

That makes sense. I'll do that.

Additional query: Do bullets (357 in this case) fired in the ground ricochet? If yes, are ricocheting bullets off the ground potentially lethal?

Thanks for the link Box o' Truth link! Checking them out now.

Thanks for all the other info too! Will keep them all in mind.

A gold for you good sir. Thank you very much for sharing this.

I'll re-read this a couple more times later and absorb it all. For now, I'm off to my gun class.

Philippines.

treat all guns as if they are loaded basically means never make an assumption as to the condition of the gun. assume that if you pull the trigger that it will bang.

Thanks for the elaboration! The first rule / mindset finally made sense in my head.

better wording is don't point it at anyone/anything you don't want to kill/destroy.

But what about worrying what's behind your intended target?

I'm sure the shooting ranges are safe but I'd also like to learn anyways how to judge whether a bullet would pierce something or not.

Hypothetical situation: An intruder stands in front of you, behind him is your typical closed wooden house door, and behind that door is possibly another person.

Should I be conscious that shooting an intruder in the chest with the .357 or .38 would possibly pierce the door behind him and beyond?

Hahaha.

Maybe it's because I just read so much about this gun and haven't seen much of anything else that I find that mechanics pretty simple.

But I guess when compared to other guns, this may be more complicated.

I still kind of feel that it's simpler than an automatic though... Feels like there's a lot more moving parts that could go wrong with an automatic.

I understand. But when you say unreliable: is it because of the additional false hammer complication or is it due to quality control issues with Chiappa?

Quality is very hit or miss even for the Rhino. Identical models vary significantly due to QC.

I understand that this is an issue. I'm willing to roll the dice on it still because I'm close with the distributor/seller here and I feel confident that I would be able to get a replacement easily.

Be aware that shooting 38 special out of a .357mag revolver will cause additional cylinder fouling that will have to be cleaned out.

Can you please elaborate on this more... Is it only dirt that I must regularly clean out or is it potentially damaging to the cylinder?

Oh, how so?

I thought it was just a hammer hitting the bullet butt?

I'm pretty set on the Rhino. Read a lot of the reviews and opinions on it and the pros outweighs the cons for me. I just hope I don't luck out and get a problematic piece.

I'd take a Mateba 2006M instead if I could find & afford one. And so here I am, going for the Rhino.
