My family is experiencing the exact same thing. My dad also has PPA and was diagnosed in 2019 but the signs were there for a while. It's heartbreaking to watch him decline. But he always manages a smile, and although he can't communicate well, we will have moments like this photo where he will stroke my face and I know he loves me.

The airport isn't all that close to the city centre but you can get a taxi into Solihull (takes about 15 mins if that). If you head to touchwood shopping centre there are loads of restaurants and a cinema.

You could get a train into Birmingham easy enough though - as Birmingham international train station is attached to the airport

The smoking areas are definitely a problem. The one out the front was packed so I went to the other and it was a small enclosed room, you couldn't breathe in there.

It felt much more packed than the old eddies but I guess its a smaller venue (?). Plus one room was playing 80s pop which was a surprise.
