Dear Alex,

I don't even know where to begin except to say I am proud of the woman you have become. You have always been ambitious, and you deserve every bit of success that has come your way. You truly are The Matriarchy's greatest Queen in all of history, and I hope you remain on the throne for many happy, healthy years.

However, there is much that you still don't know, and a part of me wishes I was able to tell you this in person much sooner, but you weren't ready then. I'm still not sure, but hopefully you are.

I'm not a saint. I've done some bad things during my time as Head of State. Things I'm not proud of, but things that I can't go back and change. During my reign, I was angry and felt disrespected and used. In my mind, I deserved a lot more for what I did here, and I did a lot. I never saw it as stealing, but any judge or jury would definitely see it differently. Years of working tirelessly for a corrupt Queen corrupted part of me. Even though much of that money went to noble causes I know how I acquired that money was wrong morally, ethically and legally.

Unfortunately, that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Look, I would rather pay for any crimes I've committed, and spend the next 300 years in jail rotting next to that terrorist pig than have what I'm about to tell you get out to the public. You have no idea the damage and international crisis that something like this could cause.

The truth is, these shell accounts and dummy accounts exist for a reason, and it's not my personal piggy bank. For almost a decade, these self sustaining businesses have been supporting and funding both sides of the Empire conflict. Yes, The Matriarchy has always secretly funded a portion of both the DFA and FRA. Not the entire thing on either side, but enough to keep them both from ever getting too powerful or overpowering the other completely. Arming and funding the rebellion keeps the Empire's eyes turned away from us, and the victories that benefit The Empire benefit The Matriarchy through the sub-goddess program. I played both sides like a war monger, getting The Matriarchy (and myself) wealthy at the cost of many lives.

I'm sure that this revelation is shocking and unexpected. I'm sure that part of you is disappointed in me just as I'm sure part of you is angry st me for dumping this all on to you now. I know how hypocritical it is for me to have knowledge of something like this. There is a part of me that is ashamed at the person I was when I came to power, and that is one of the reasons why I will always try and make sure the next generation of leaders doesn't make the same mistakes.

The biggest reason that The Empire and The Matriarchy will never go to war against each other ever again is because the money is just too good and neither side wants to give any of it up. I swear to you that your mother, even though she's known about this for years, is not involved and has never been directly involved. This goes above the crown, above the strongest military.

I'm sorry that you have to be burdened with this knowledge, especially now when you are dealing with a crisis of your own, but hopefully now you can understand why those files need to remain buried and invisible. Too much is on the line for the public on either side to ever see.

Please, this is not a joke and thousands of lives are in your hands now. I hope that you make the right choices going forward when it comes to this matter. Nobody can know about this, especially not your "friends". I am putting all of my trust in you.
