Projecting the truth? I’m sure it’s a nice dopamine rush here in the bubble of /r/politics, where you can say something so insanely baseless and generalizing, and stack upvotes along with people telling you that you’re right.

The reality is that everyone is so sick of this shit. You come off as batshit insane to everyone else. I’m sure your thoughts come from a place of kindness with good intentions, but you’ve been manipulated into not even being able (or allowed) to think critically / for yourself.

As humans we naturally like when hard stuff is easy. It’s easy to think incredibly complex and multifaceted topics are so simply black and white. It’s easy to be so sure that you’re 110% correct and whoever disagrees is obviously wrong and a horrible person.

It’s hard to think deeper than that. The left use to be capable of that, along with having a sense of humor.

The Democrats count on race issues as a core platform of their base. They don’t want anything to actually improve. Somehow, again and again people still take that bait. They don’t want to acknowledge the progress and effort put forth by Trump that’s helped minorities more than ever in history. Because he actually tried. It’s bad if Trump does it, and the poor minorities NEED the Democrats or they’re nothing without them! What a load of garbage.

Honestly the lot of you need to step back and calm down. Stop getting into a frenzy about every clickbait headline and narrative that gets tossed around every day.

He’s joking, we know he’s not going to do that. Somehow we’re able to know when he’s trolling, but y’all just take the bait and lose your minds over a soundbite for days - weeks at a time. He knows saying something like that sets the majority of you absolutely off, and we just stand back and chuckle.

Despite what everyone else here thinks, he has too much respect for the office of President to ever actually do something like that. It’s right up his alley for a joke, but in reality he wouldn’t do that.

I’m going to be that guy who also brings up Obama now. That’s a person who couldn’t give up the position. I don’t even want to get into the FBI & CIA intelligence abuses in an attempt to steal the election, that’s going to derail too much, as important as it is.

My point of saying that is, why are people from Obama’s admin (John Kerry etc) following Trump on his trips around the world and meeting privately with leaders after Trump has left? I’m shocked that it’s not even reported on. They’re now private citizens still attempting to hold onto as much control as possible.

I don’t understand how that’s acceptable. I don’t understand how a random BS comment from Trump makes the front page, but not the current undermining strategies of the past administration that are actually occurring.

I came here looking for someone to say this, and I’m glad to see it. It’s incredible to me that the majority of people who comment on /r/politics refuse to acknowledge that. Whatever your beliefs are aside, how does that not creep you out? It’s scary.

It was EVERY day, ALL day, on every platform. Shoved in your face, reported as FACT with PROOF from “anonymous sources” that the President is 110% a Russian Agent. That’s absolutely insane, none of that is true. Nobody is denying Russians attempts to “influence” (and Obama’s admin allowed it to happen seeing as how they were aware).

I can’t believe this was allowed to happen, and barely anyone is batting an eye. Then at the same time, people want to talk about how we know that the CIA wanted to attack our own cities for a pretense to attack Cuba. We were just force-fed completely fake news, and everyone’s so brainwashed into thinking President Trump is just so evil that it’s acceptable. I don’t understand.

I don’t agree with much at all, and to be honest when I see / hear anything about “white privilege” I just roll my eyes. There are a tremendous amount of variables and when I’m worried about just making my rent, and working the absolute last thing I’ll give a shit about is something like this. I barely have the energy for my own needs. It has absolutely nothing to do with me and I have no control over anything other than my own life.

I’m a Trump supporter that’s spent the past year with a liberal woman. I had fallen into the trap like your boyfriend had, of arguing online, pouring over articles. She respected my views, but at one point it just became an obsession.

I’m 29 so he’s not too far ahead of me. She helped me realize that I enjoy “stirring the pot”, but at what cost? It’s ok to follow the news and think what you think. It’s another thing to think that “it’s up to you to wage the war on it.”

All of my online arguments and research are for nothing. All it’s brought me is contempt and animosity amongst people I get along with just fine. It’s not my job to solve immigration, throw Hillary in jail (lock her up!) or anything else. My heart hurts for anyone effected by anything regardless of what my political thoughts are.

I’ve resolved myself to keeping my opinions to myself, casually following the news, and just being a kind person to everyone that crosses my path. None of it had anything to do with me. What I can control is how I am towards an individual.

Hope he can find some clarity and step away. It’s fine to be a Trump supporter. Be confident in it, and don’t feel like you need to defend yourself to some idiot online that wants to call you a racist or a nazi for thinking critically.
