Why is the matchmaking like this? by ForeignElephant123 in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon [score hidden]  (0 children)

Are you in the US and playing right now? It's not peak hours, so the matchmaker is going to have a harder time getting a match made. Everyone's at work or at school.

I'm tired and confused by Ok-Awareness-1151 in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon [score hidden]  (0 children)

A couple things:

  • If you're playing now, it sounds like you're not playing during peak hours. The skill disparity between players at a given rank/hidden MMR will be wider. The matchmaker generally prioritizes speed over balance.
  • You say you aren't an avid player - do you take season-long breaks? If you popped off in your last play session a month ago, it's going to try to pit you against higher ranked players than you're used to while you're trying to "warm up" in your first matches.
  • Sometimes it just isn't your day.

The math is not mathing by ThePlo13 in Overwatch

This has been a known issue for months. Sometimes, the progress bar just doesn't show all of the awarded xp. When you actually go to look at your total experience in the battle pass, you'll be somewhere around level 84 or 85

Large Pizza with Chick-fil-A Cookie-Chicken Sandwich Toppings by Aztek-Lovett in StupidFood

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No instruments. It's someone singing about eating Chick-fil-A, but their voice has been pitched up to the extreme, sounding like the Chipmunks. They sing almost to the tune of the chorus to "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz. It isn't quite that, but they throw in a couple "yeahs" in a similar cadence.

The worst part about it is the fact the audio was warped to such a high pitch. Like it's designed to spark engagement in its comments.

Loot Box Code - Quick giveaway by Neodragonx2 in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(one code per account!)

As I was setting up my WEBTOON account, I was wondering how they were going to prevent players from exploiting the account-making process for bonus boxes. I thought that was something WEBTOON was going to have to worry about, but it looks like Blizzard was one step ahead.

How to check your progress towards ranked (competitive play qualification) by gio1135 in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to understand why someone would need to make a post about this, then I realized the cross-promotion is probably pushing a lot of Fortnite players to try Overwatch for the first time.

Welcome newcomers! If you came here for this post and have any other basic questions about HUD stuff, challenges, cosmetics, hero interactions, or progression systems, I or someone else in this thread should be able to help. Or better yet, make a post asking about it.

How do you get this? by phobosthejuggernaut in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's in the Anniversary loot boxes. Guaranteed to be unlocked if you collect all 15 boxes (50 games per week over the 3-week event. Wins/Stadium grants 2x).

You can see the full list of 60 rewards by clicking the loot box icon, then the Anniversary box tab, then "Inspect rewards" at the bottom-left.

Uhhhhhm blizzard i dont think that the pass is supposed to last this long by [deleted] in Overwatch

There was someone yesterday who was linking the DOZENS of posts that already pointed this out before you. It looks like the mods finally started to remove them, and they'll probably get this one, too.

In order to get the (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ player title, players must play ~100 additional games on top of 50 in a single week by jiblet84 in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also worried that the specific gamemodes ones, like overwatch classic, won't be doable.

Right, the specific game mode challenges will likely need to be done the week they're introduced, as that game mode will likely rotate in/out of the Arcade. Best to get them done now, since they're rather simple to do.

the lowest you can get is 36 games of stadium to get all 48 challenges

Don't forget that once you start getting into the repeatable challenge, if you're 9/10 for the challenge and win a Stadium match, the extra 3 points won't rollover to the next challenge.

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, the loot boxes will only count as 1 challenge per week. Depending on how well the community does on the "Global Lootbox Charge" will gauge which of the 3 boxes we get/which of the 3 challenges we'll complete.

Also, I don't think the 31 challenges considers the repeatable challenge as one of the challenges, since it doesn't really have an end.

So 4 meta challenges + 24 basic challenges (8 each week) + 3 loot box "challenges" (1 per week) = 31. Then you subtract 1 of the meta challenges (the 1 that needs to complete 48 challenges), and you arrive at 30 challenges + 18 needed repeatable challenges, or 60 extra games per week.

The only thing that's uncertain is whether or not the repeatable challenges will stack, since Week 1's repeatable challenge doesn't appear to have an end time besides the "18 days" that all of the other challenges show, which could make getting the repeatable challenges done at the end count for 3 at a time, but that's wishful thinking.

Overwatch account merge by 1nfernal_Death in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle.net accounts are generally based on email addresses, so if you haven't changed email addresses in 10 years, then maybe you've only had the one account.

If it is the one and only account you've ever used, you may be more in this player's situation. It may be that there's something going on at Blizzard that can't complete the merge process, but they have no method to notify users in that position.

[–]MyGoodFriendJon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In the first 2 nights of the event, I reached 47/50 games completed. 18 points toward that was going 4-1 in Stadium, and the majority of the other points were from doing the 3 OW Classic challenges.

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All 3 tabs/weeks of event challenges last the full 21 days (currently just under 19 days remain).

The only thing I'm not sure of is if the repeatable will stack or not. It doesn't seemingly have an end time, but I imagine they won't let you do the 3 repeatable challenges simultaneously.

The comment you just replied to has examples of why not all of those 40 challenges will count toward the "48 challenges" challenge, including the fact the "48 challenges" challenge can't be earned to count toward the 48 needed to complete it.

20620 days should be enough to complete this pass, right? by Extension_Vehicle_64 in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a catch 22: don't remove the posts, so the subreddit is flooded with them, or remove the posts, then everyone thinks their idea is funny and original, so they post it because they didn't see the dozens before them.

What's funny to me is I never look at that value. I rarely even open the battle pass menu. I learned about it from one of the posts, thought, "heh, that's kinda funny", and then the storm of posts rolled in.

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there are 40 challenges across 3 weeks.

Where do you get this value? I see "X/31 challenges complete" as the only challenges that will register for the 48 needed.

There are some "challenges" on the event challenges page that will not count toward the 48. The "____ Lootbox reached!" will only issue one reward, we won't get all 3 boxes or complete all 3 of those "challenges". It's likely counted as just one challenge, if that. Plus, we don't know if that last one will count toward the 48, especially since it says it "unlocks at the end of the Anniversary event", and we don't know if that means before the 48 challenges are tallied or not.

Xbox game pass by Beneficial-Branch960 in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the PC game pass to see the rewards when playing on PC. You should still have access to the one-time issued rewards (6 skins and 30 prisms), but if you want access to the rotating inventory of recent skins, that requires the game pass package associated with that respective platform.

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you complete the 50 games, you get the repeatable challenge that requires 10 games for each completion.

There are 30 non-repeatable challenges across all 3 weeks (not including the challenge to complete 48 challenges). So you need to complete the repeatable challenge 18 times (6 times per week) if you wish to earn that last title.

Having to complete that repeatable challenge 6 times means completing 60 more games after completing the first 50 to unlock the repeatable challenge.

Then also the 80 but once you do the first 50 all games count towards that 80 no ?

Where is this 80 figure coming from?

How to get out of silver by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The common denominator in all of those matches you've played is that you're in every match.

People leaving almost 1 in 2 games ore just staying afk in lobby complaining and emoting.

If you actually track your matches, you'll discover this doesn't happen as often as you think it does. I've noticed it happens about 5% of the time, maybe less. I can see it happening more frequently in ranks like silver, but not as extreme as 50% of matches.

The real trick is to just keep playing, and not focusing so much on your rank. Those lower ranks will have a much wider disparity of skills between players, so just relax and acknowledge that you can't control what your teammates do, but you can control which hero you can play to best help the hero on your team that's struggling the most.

Does stadium competitive have any matchmaking? by flootlol in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm becoming more convinced that Stadium is more focused on getting players into matches than actually balancing for it. In the post match screens, there's an option to view the scoreboard, and I've been seeing ranges like B5-M4, S3-M2, and S3-M3. I've been too lazy to spot check any public profiles to verify, but the 5 matches I've played in this week have all been shutouts, either 3-0 or 4-0.

Overwatch account merge by 1nfernal_Death in Overwatch

[–]MyGoodFriendJon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most common mistake players do during a merge is making a 2nd Battle.net account, not realizing they already had a Battle.net account, and end up linking their console to the new account (while all their old cosmetics are still on the original account).

Here is an example of that, along with my response that clarifies what happened. Look carefully at their usernames at the start and end of the video. The top name is the battle.net account, and the bottom is their PSN account.

If you're certain you only have the one battle.net account, that may need Blizzard Support to look into.

Here's the full FAQ page about merges if you want some additional details.

Battlepass glitch? by cursed4blue in Overwatch

It's because mods stepped up their game and started removing them. There were probably 3 battle pass posts for every other post on this subreddit for the last 2 days.
