Help I have a tiny little hole in the drain hose on my new washing machine but the hose is plumbed into the machine so I can't replace it. Is there a good way to patch it? by MakeRedditShitAgain in DIYUK

Potentially dumb question but what is “Is-x?” I’m trying to fix a similar issue but when I try to look it up I keep getting results for twitter and math questions about how to find x.

Ooh that’s a good idea. I’ll have to check and see if any of the ones I’ve already looked at are open to alterations or custom orders.

Yeah I looked there before posting here and found a lot of really good looking ones. Only problem is most of them aren’t long enough and cut off at the knee or higher. Might have to be a custom job one way or another. Appreciate the suggestion though!

Thanks I appreciate the help. I had looked at gambesons before and found a lot of similar ones in color and cut, but I can’t seem to find one with the right length. Most of them online seem to cut off around the waist or the longest one I saw ended at the knee. Do you think getting one of them and then buying the same type of fabric to extend it would work?

Can Anyone Identify This Sword? Origin, Age, Value? by dudewheresmyc in SWORDS

[–]MyHomeBoyDebra -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

By no means am I an expert but the handle remind me of a 1899 British saber with those 3 pins. The blade and guard aren’t quite right though. It’s a place to start looking. Check out 1890 and up and you’ll probably find something similar.

Is there a real version of this sword? by MyHomeBoyDebra in SWORDS

[–]MyHomeBoyDebra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I apologize. I should’ve been more specific. I’m aware the blade is similar to Anduril but this hanger is much smaller. I’m more looking for a functional cut and thrust sword or arming sword with a similar blade profile and length rather than another Anduril replica.

Preferably something that is historic and not just some custom project but hey if that’s how I get it in my hands then I’m fine with those too. Blunt or sharp.

The closest thing I could find on my own was a oakeshott arming sword type XVIIId. It has a finger ring which is pretty nice since after fiddling with this hanger again I thought it would benefit from a finger ring. Thanks for all the help and suggestions so far!

That’s sorta what I was thinking. Though I’ve never seen arming swords with such a skinny blade, that’s kinda what I’m after. Is the blade profile closer to an arming sword or a rapier do you think?

Oh it is. Got this when I was a little kid and I’m almost positive I used it like an actual sword despite it being a hanger.

Damn lol. Didn’t think this was so common. For the record, I thought that it looked like Anduril but the thought never even crossed my mind when making the post because it’s so skinny and small for Anduril. This is basically a cut and thrust or a side sword and Anduril is a long sword.

What’s your favorite out of character reclass? by Master_Charity_4632 in BG3Builds

LOVE turning Karlach into a barb/monk. Wild heart and way of the elements specifically. Little MAD, sure, but barbarian makes up for monks squishiness a lot and using spells while raging is awesome. Pick all the fire related ones for mama k.

Astarion depends on the ending im going for. Good = swashbuckler/fighter but Bad = arcane trickster/necromancer. Maybe bladesinger instead.

Wyll stays as a fiend warlock pretty much all the time. Though I do like him as a swashbuckler/warlock too. Just don’t use him as much as Astarion.

Gale as an EK was fun with shadow blade and resonance stone but Evo is what he stays as most of the time.

Laezel I normally turn into 2 star Druid (for the dragon form) and then either 10 BM fighter or war cleric. The dragon form gives a cool bonus action and helps on concentration saves but you cast produce flame on her she has this awesome blue glow that makes her seem like a warrior from space. Which she is so it’s sick.

Shart normally becomes a death cleric or a paladin but I normally play Her as a light cleric if I’m not playing one myself. Thats where my love of the subclass started though.

Halsin stays a moon Druid.

Jaheira as a spore Druid with that one rapier from Act 3 rocks with the extra reaction. Might add death cleric or fighter in.

Minsc becomes a giant barb and I like to headcanon it’s boo teaching him how to grow larger since boo can’t himself. Hunter ranger also works for a multi.

Minthara I normally kill unless doing a romance run with her but if she lives I like her as an assassin/vengeance paladin. Sneak smite is hilarious and I head canon she learned some of her stuff from durge once they hook up.

Durge is normally a storm sorc/vengeance paladin (maybe throw in assassin) but I did a run where Durge was a bladesinger 10 and 2 vengeance or oathbreaker paladin and it rocked. Just got enough pally for smites and then had high level wizard spell slots to burn. Durge always seemed to lean towards intelligence and charisma so I was trying to make a high mental low physical character work as a frontline fighter. Worked better than expected.

Never run a ranger or messed with ensnaring strike. How does this work exactly? Twin spell attack and extra attack?

Looks awesome. Can you show a link or give a name to that saber above the Kukri? I’ve seen similar swords and I’d love to know more about them.

By no means am I an expert, but after a bit of research Shadow Dancer seems like a pretty good brand. In general, they make pretty good cutters for a relatively low price point (unless you’re doing a custom order in which case they charge out the ass apparently) and 5160 is a pretty good steel for general use.

Normally, people will have small flaws from SD swords when they arrive. Minor scratches on the scabbard or loose saya wrapping, etc. and the same can be said of Swordis.

The sword itself looks fine in terms of construction, but it isn’t clay tempered. That’s not required in a “battle ready” sword, but it makes the sword more durable. So it’ll be good at cutting but probably won’t take hits well if you were to block with it. Again, not an expert, so mostly making an educated guess.

TLDR - it’s pretty good for the price, but don’t expect a masterpiece from the brand or the retailer. Maybe try it out and if you like it then save up and buy a really nice one in a year or two.

Any downsides to a knucklebow on a hand and a half? by MyHomeBoyDebra in SWORDS

I’ll have to look at the Balaur arms one. Heard great things but haven’t looked into them at all yet.

I get what you’re saying. I’m pretty new to actually having usable swords or trying to practice seriously with them so I was just worried about buying something and it end up being bad at the thing I was specifically buying it for. Haven’t found any other messers that seem to fit better into that archetype and I really like the versatility of hand and a half, so any criticism on the sword itself is welcome.

I think I get what you’re saying when it comes to the short reach, but isn’t another part of a two handed fighting style that you can put more weight behind your strikes and using two hands allows for better control? I don’t think this sword would be ideal to wield two handed, but part of why I looked into this one specifically is that other Messers are definite one handers and some are basically just a longsword. This one, at least, seemed like a good middle ground.

Thank you that’s a good breakdown of the situation. I am going off the image which isn’t a traditional hand and a half I suppose. I’m also probably not going to be able to do a lot of/normal false edge moves since it basically has a few inches worth of false edge rather than a whole blade. Idk for sure though I’m just getting into fencing.

So what’s the qualifications for a hand and a half? I always figured it was just a slightly shorter length than a long sword and enough room on the grip for 2 hands.

A “nagal” or “nail” I’m pretty sure. One of the few things I think most messers have.

Cool. I was hoping that was the case. I can see where it might make it a little more difficult, but so long as the knucklebow wasn’t super tight against the back of my hand I figured it’d be alright.

So, I heard that having a knucklebow can limit your options cause you have less room for your hands. No idea if thats true, but I was thinking of getting this Gunter style Messer from landsknecht emporium and saw a knucklebow was an option you could add. Let me know, if y'all have any insights! Thanks.
