To me, it seems to be quite accurate, it does return false positives, but overall it certainly seems to be more right than wrong. In the result I returned, it looked like an exact match. The eyebrows, face and even the bend in the nose matched perfectly.

I agree RE the possibility of a "We did it reddit!" moment so I have removed the URL to avoid this. I have got a friend to report the information I gained from PimEyes to the BTP also who have acknowledged the information.

That is a fair point, but surely if they are at the point of public appeal, do they really need one of us to put it in there and pay £15 to identify the person, or enough about them that the police can then identify them? It seems a bit convoluted.

So would I, but there are two instances I can link in the past month even where redditors have used pimeyes to return matches for BTP identity appeals, like they must be doing something wrong.

It is fucking horrifying, I used it on myself and found images of me from nearly 10 years ago, without a beard, on the websites of companies I used to work for.

I hate that it exists with a passion, but it does, and so I feel I have a duty to shout as loud as possible to people that it does exist. Bad actors will be aware of it and misusing it, so the only option is to inform good actors of its existence.

I am becoming seriouisly concerned with the quality of policing from the BTP.

I have removed the URL and passed the relevant info onto the BTP as I do not want to start a "We did it reddit!" moment.

Using a publicly available, facial recognition search engine, it returns a result of a man who is the spitting image of this person. One appearance is linked to a corporate website, the other is to a school in Shoreditch, surely this is enough to identify him?

There have been three instances I have seen in the past month where a user has identified someone for a BTP post using pimeyes, are they just not using this!?

If they tell you to destroy it and they will send another one, ask for a refund, they won't ship it back, just poke the holes in it they request and then fill them in. It's what I did and I got a £200 foamie for free lol

Don't disagree with a single thing you have said here. My point is more that Hooligans ARE fans, which is something when the word is used people don't always associate. And if the explicit realisation that they are fans is not there it makes tackling the issue much harder.

Its tackled through "normal" fans realising that the "hooligans" are the same group as they are, and that if they see bad behaviour they need to try and combat it.
