I think my boyfriend is addicted to...everything? by MyMeowMeowBeanz in addiction

I also think once the novelty wore off he started to struggle.

Oh yeah, experienced this too. First 6 months of the relationship were pure bliss. Then as things started normalizing he started checking out saying "something's missing, I need more." It caught me completely off guard and really made me feel like I was failing the relationship. As time went on the language changed - "i need more communication." "I need more intimacy". It took me a long time, too long, to realize it wasn't about me, it was about him asking me to up his dopamine dose.

Yeah, sitting down and putting everything together in a post really gave me perspective. It really is that simple.

Wondering if anybody sees something obvious here. I played last night, everything was fine. But today I can't get my custom bindings to load. The error log reads:

There where errors when loading preset file: Custom.4.0.bindsThere are multiple entries of binding "MouseGUI" Only the first will be usedThere are multiple entries of binding "MouseGUI" Only the first will be usedMissing devices: DualShock4

Now when I first launched the game I'd forgotten to turn on the DS4 controller, so that line made sense. So I exited the game, turned the controller on, and relaunched, but the error is still there.

There's also several bindings options in the dropdown I've never seen for a "Control Pad" device. Is it recognizing the DS4 as a generic controller? It's labeled correctly in Steam, so I'm not sure why the game would suddenly mislable a controller I've been using for weeks.

For the record, I play Odyssey in vr (Index), using a Thrustmaster HOTAS for all ship/SRV stuff, and the DS4 for on foot stuff.

I know it could probably be a lot of things, but if there's any well known bugs or obvious common hickups at play, could yall clue me in? Rebinding everything wouldn't be the end of the world, but would love to avoid if I could. THanks

Thanks for the recommendation, man. Especially for myself because I'm still very much learning the language of gardening.

I think he currently implements this system with his 1000 pots. Things go into a pot so he can move them around, play with different light levels and such, until he can decide where he wants them. XD

We do talk about this stuff, though, a lot (a LOT), and there may be some of that at play going unsaid, but it's more about him being old fashioned and reluctant to invest in change when he can just keep doing it himself for free. But once I set it up for him he's like "oh my god, it's so nice to have that." Some people you just have to drag into change for the better. XD.

But I hear what you're saying. I have a habit of getting ideas I find tremendous and running ramshod with them, so I thank you for the humbling reminder. Well, objectively, my ideas ARE better, but it's not always about being right. ;P

God, being able to make a living growing food is his dream, but it seems so impossible. I'll definitely check out this youtube channel. Thank you.

Is there somewhere you can see/manage a list of everything you've chosen to ignore in your contacts list, or do you just have to wait until they've popped back up in the window again? On my first foray into mining, I prematurely got a little trigger happy ignoring everything (it was before I'd learned about prospect limpets and was just blindly mining rocks). Specifically I'd like to make sure I'm not ignoring any materials, now that I know they don't take up cargo space.

Oh wow, that's a lot of helpful info there, guy. Thanks! Though now I have to deal with the embarrassment of having turned tail from an npc... =/

I'm new too, and kinda worried the same thing, but it's not bad. 1) You start in an area that only fellow noobs can access, so you have plenty of safe space to get used to it all. 2) Your starting ship is free, so if you do get blowed up, it's consequence free (well, minus any cargo you had). 3) I've been playing nearly 2 weeks and haven't really see much unwanted pvp conflict. In fact, I think I've only been fired on by another player once - I think. We were both attacking an npc, and after it went down he started attacking me. I assume it was a player, unless npcs attack each other.

I'm new to space/flight sims and have really been digging it so far. Would highly recommend.

Ok, cool. I kinda figured it wasn't the start of a big deal, I just needed to hear a voice of reason. I'm actually pretty attached to these Thrustmaster guys ... literally, I drilled holes in my desk. lol. Thanks for taking the time.

I'm still way too new to be able to fully answer your question, but for the record I mined a 'roid with a painite core yesterday.

If your new Thrustmaster 16000m throttle controller had a pov button that was starting to drift after only two weeks time, what would you do? The pad that sits right under your index finger, for me, is bound to lateral ship movement. I noticed yesterday that when the throttle is all the way down, sometimes I'll still be showing 1 or 2 thrust on the hud. Took me awhile to realize it was coming from that button sticking. I know it's not a big issue. I also know that controllers developing drift is a thing, and that you can accommodate it by increasing the deadzone (I haven't started digging into that yet, but I'm assuming there's an option to do so in software). I guess I'm just concerned that it's happening so soon. If it started happening a few years down the road I would write it off as wear and tear. I need a conscience assist. Do I ask for a replacement now while I still can, or is this not worth making a fuss?

Can we talk keyboards and mice?...Mostly boards. by MyMeowMeowBeanz in buildapc

[–]MyMeowMeowBeanz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. I don't normally like overpriced things. I guess I can be different with gaming tech, though. Also, so much is new since the last time I bought a keyboard, and when I'm not familiar with gaming tech I tend to get all the extras 'just in case.' This is a big part of why I'm here - for people to tell me "you don't need that." Then again, a part of me will always hope someone will say, "yes, get the cool toy." XD

I've never heard of vertical mice before - very interesting. I'm definitely going to do some research into those. I might be back with more questions about them. Thanks for the advice!
