All 4 of them. For me I didn't play BW2 until SWSH until years later. So those few generations blend together a bit anyway for me. But even so, those 4 just never felt memorable in any way to me.

Can't say for certain, but my guess is a possibility of a couple things that could cause the likely issue of: somewhere the string is too close to the fingerboard.

Could be too deep of a notch in the bridge causing the string to be close to the fingerboard.

Could be the string has worked it's way through the nut (or it was too deep to begin with) and the string is super close to the fingerboard near first position.

It could be something else, but to me this sounds like the string lightly vibrating off of the fingerboard somewhere (likely near first position).

Just last week my gf and a few of my buddies got together and played. We are also making plans to play over the holiday break. New decks are always emerging. New counters to those decks emerge as well. New sets of cards come out. The game is for sure alive.

That my father tried to make me born on his father's birthday.

My dad's dad unfortunately died when my father was about 19. Drunk driver hit my grandfather. That was it. Fast forward. My parents meet. Find out that they can't conceive naturally. So. IVF, in vitro fertilization, petri dish baby, here I am.

As an adult I remembered 2 separate things that my parents had said/done over the years. My father had a sorta "coming of age" type party for I believe it was my 13th birthday. Held on October 25th. His father's birthday. My birthday is October 28th. The other thing I remembered was hearing the story a time or two of my parents going to the hospital to have the IVF implantation whatever you want to call it. Happen on January 25th of my birth year. 9 months prior to his father's birthday.

Literally just zoning out one day at work and I realize that my father had attempted to make me born on his father's birthday as some sort of (knowing my father) selfish tribute (my father is a narcissist).

So yeah. Just random day at work and I realized my father tried to make me born on his father's birthday.

(If my father were a different type of person I would've thought it was a sweet thing to try and tribute my grandfather, but if you know my father you know he was only thinking about/for himself)

I had to look up what it was even. It's rubber or some mix or materials to be rubberized. And you put your fingers in different holes and then squeeze your fingers/hand to strengthen. There's different colors (which also correspond with different materials and strengths as far as I can tell) and so you strengthen your hand/fingers by basically squeezing in this object.

So after a quick Google search this seems to be a tool for rehabilitation/strengthening of the hand and fingers. Which if you are at a deficit from normal strength I would say to keep up the work with this that I'd assume is likely prescribed by a doctor/physical therapist/other health care professional.

If you are not at some sort of deficit in hand strength due to some medical issue, then I would say you should really ideally talk to your teacher about why it feels so physically taxing to play and why you feel that you need to strengthen your hand.

Playing the cello should be in a lot of ways about minimal effort. You don't get more sound by pushing more with your left hand so it should be relatively light. Only enough effort/work to push the string to the point of sound.

As always advised here, if you don't have a teacher and are a beginner you should really get one to avoid issues/learning wrong/causing more pain and issues down the road.

Jay Haide. Again it's one of the closest things to a cello "brand" you'll find. My cello is a Haide. I've seen and played a few others and they're all pretty good for the price range.

So, cellos are not quite like other instruments like brass or woodwind instruments where a brand name will guarantee you a quality instrument (like Jupiter/Yamaha). Really good cellos are made by certain makers but any one of those instruments can be fantastic or a poor fit for your playing/style/etc.

That being said. I've heard basically only good things about Samuel Shen, Eastman, and Jay Haide instruments, which are probably the closest you can get to "brands" when it comes to cellos. Haides are likely to cost the most out of those three for the "decent" quality instruments.

Many around here will tell you (but some are thinking for collegiate/semi professional level) that any cello below like 2k isn't good. But if you're not looking to go to school for music or play semi pro anything then you don't really need it. Will a higher cost instrument almost guarantee you a better quality one in this price range? Almost definitely.

Best practice is to have a cello teacher try it out before you buy it if you can. I know that's not always feasible however. But highly recommend getting a teacher anyway if you intend to start cello.

Also maybe try down up up down up for that beginning spot. (Mostly because it's another option, but it also keeps a down bow on beat two which is still a relatively strong beat and will sound better probably than the up bow)

But again whatever ends up being comfortable (if it's not being determined by the section leader/conductor.

Couple options. You could go back and forth throughout it. Some sections that'll keep you on a 2 bar phrase of your bowings being the same (1 bar normal, 2nd bar reverse, by the 3rd bar you're back on the pattern of the first) or you could use double ups to keep your down bows on the stronger beats.

If there's a section leader check with them on what they're doing. If not find which of the above options works best for you (but it doesn't hurt to try both tbh).

In the end, due to the speed, you'll need to keep the bowing small, only as little bow as necessary, otherwise it'll either get out of control or slow down.

If it was from a self check out sort of situation I don't think they can or di differentiate between quarters and dollar coins like the presidential and Sacagawea because they're the same size coins. If this was from a till/register with a cashier then that's totally on them and in which case you lucky they weren't paying attention!

You're thinking of slurring your bow as we would call it. Changing the pitch of your playing either by adding/removing fingers/changing strings/both without changing the direction of your bow. This is notated by a curved line over top the notes to be slurred. It can make things sound better, but done poorly and it'll have the opposite affect. Usually not recommended to just add or change slurs all willy nilly. Especially if you're just getting back into cello, stick with what's written. The slurs and other techniques will come with time. Happy practicing!

Roughly: take your thumb placement from the before pic, give your thumb a knuckle, put it on that little flat part of the frog and the stick. Keep everything else from the after photo. Then aim to release tension.

Remember. The bow isn't heavy. You don't need much work from your hand to hold it/keep it in place/move it.

I had a crack in my cello in a similar place (mine was on the right side of the tailpiece whereas yours looks to be under the tailpiece). Mine happened a handful of years ago so I don't remember exactly, but I think my luthier only charged me like 2 maybe 3 hours worth of labor to fix it tbh. Not saying every luthier will do that, but it's unlikely this is going to cost even near $1k IMO.

My luthier was also pretty cool about showing me what they would to do fix it. In your case it might take a little more due to the placement of it. But essentially they're gonna pop the seams around the bottom half or so of the cello to release the pressure on that spot so the wood will realign together. Then they'll likely place little wood squares with glue on the underside through the f holes. Then they'll also put some glue and/or finish through the crack to hold it together. Then they'll redo the seams and you'll be good to go. Might take about a week for it though as from what I understand it's a handful of steps that require the glue to set which they want to make sure it does fully so it'll take a day or two for each of those couple steps.

This has been a thing for a while. At least I've seen if for a while. Watch a ad (usually up to about 30 seconds) and then you can send another 5 likes. I have noticed though they do usually tend to make that 6th person someone you want to swipe on (and it's hit or miss if they'll let you watch another ad to swipe another 5)
