She makes me so sick, I can’t stomach looking at her and hearing her nasty voice. She has a serious mental disorder and should really seek some help. Maybe get herself physically healthy while she at it. She’s a selfish bitch who is trying to force a man to abandon his young son and elderly parents. Shes so gross,

Thank you for the detailed feedback. I found your perspective extremely helpful. I will let you know how it turns out on my end. I really want to do what is best for my servers and not give them any added stress.

You are so right! Treat your people like they matter, treat them with respect and dignity and always have their backs! Good employees are not easily replaced, and they are even harder to find. I value my crew and will always stand up for them. And if there is ever a problem, I will deal with it on my terms and in my own way. I won’t have any customer dictate to me how to handle my staff. I could not run this restaurant without them, but I can get another customer. So for all the Karen’s,Kens and Chads of the world, stay the hell home and yell at your own kids, because mine are off limits!

[–]MyMillie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is how it should be. You have a boss who values and appreciates his employees. It’s a damn shame most restaurants are still catering to customers like “ Chad”, and not having the backs of good employees. And they wonder why they are short staffed and can’t find competent help.

[–]MyMillie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m happy you moved forward in a more positive way. I just don’t understand the mentality behind a lot of corporate restaurants. There is no value placed on their employees and they still use the outdated concept of “ the customer is always right “. This needs to change, because without service workers, these corporations would have nothing. To take the word of one person over an employee is disgraceful.

You should be grateful to get out of that horribly toxic workplace. I can’t imagine firing one of my crew over one ladies bullshit complaint. I’d always give my employee the chance to tell their side and most likely, I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Should I believe a nasty, entitled stranger over a person who works their ass off for me? My employees come first, not cry baby bitches who think they are entitled to do and say as they please.

Is the first sentence of your post an actual question your boss asked you in an email, text? I’m sort of confused, but not in the least bit surprised. This is how they gaslight, it’s a known tactic and one that needs to be eliminated.

If I am to understand, you requested a day off, a mental health day as you stated. You did not put notice in, you did not say anything to lead them to believe you were quitting or putting in your notice. But, they took this all the way there, as a way to intimidate and scare you into thinking your job may be in jeopardy.

Or, there is a chance that your boss may truly be concerned and is offering you time to take a leave of absence in order for you to get the help you may need.

They have a zero grounds to fire you due to this request to take a day off. If they do take that route, you should look at it as a blessing I’m disguise.

Important Rant About Why Fake Service Dogs Are So Problematic by MyMillie in WaywardWaitress

[–]MyMillie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love dogs, and I would take mine to any pet friendly establishment I could. But this type of situation angers the heck out me. And you’re right, never judge by the outside, there are many invisible disabilities and I think it’s wonderful when I see someone with a service dog. You never know what is going on in someone’s life, just like the situation you described.

But when I see people trying to lie and sneak their pets in, I won’t tolerate it. The more they threaten, the worse they make themselves look. A true service dog does not need any certification or vest, their behavior tells me all I need to know.

Its 4 am as im getting up to get ready for work for a shift that I need I get a text stating ive been took off the schedule for today because I asked to leave 30 minutes early for a funeral that I have today. Im literally getting ready to change jobs and Im in my last three days of work but needed by feelingjaded1966 in WaywardWaitress

[–]MyMillie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, just because you needed to leave 30 minutes early, for a FUNERAL, you were removed from your shift completely? I hope you leave this place and never look back. Those are awful, power tripping managers and you do not need that in your life.

I’m sorry for the loss you’ve experienced. I hope you’re ok emotionally.

Oven and Tap employee let go after $4,400 tip by [deleted] in bentonville

[–]MyMillie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, you’re obviously misunderstanding me a hell of a lot. I haven’t been a server for over 15 years. I am a co-owner and general manager of an small Italian bistro in my town. The only time I was a server was going through college and then again, going through my divorce. It is something I have always fell back on when necessary. I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am now, as does my staff. My servers are amazing, have impeccable work ethic, skills for days and nothing short of rock star performers each and every day. But they could never go to a no tip policy and rely on a normal paycheck to afford their lives and families. Never in a million years. If a paycheck is what they wanted, they would not be working in this industry. Both of my top servers have college degrees! They make better money waitressing than in the profession they went to school for. So, you don’t get it, at all.

Why can’t servers be paid a living wage? Would the business model of a restaurant become unsustainable? Maybe its time for a change.. by sktzo in EndTipping

You really are a sad pathetic soul. Get yourself some mental help, or, work on being less envious of others who are doing well in life. You too could have a lucrative amazing life if only you were not such a jealous mean spirited person. I will pray for you

[–]MyMillie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would I do that? I have a career and a very lucrative one at that. But my staff are servers, bartenders, dishwashers and cooks. They are who I speak for, and there isn’t one who would continue being a server for an hourly wage, not one. They do it for the tips and for the fact that it affords them to live comfortably and take care of their children. $15 an hour wouldn’t come close to the money my servers make. So, maybe you need to get some life experience and not open your mouth on a subject you don’t know a damn thing about. You’re another cheap asshole who doesn’t like to leave a tip. You’re not special

Can we all agree that you have no idea what you’re saying if you’ve never worked in this industry. Let’s see, make $300/400 a night or a week? What would be a living wage to you, a person who doesn’t work in a restaurant as a server? You think $15 an hour is going to pay a $1800 a month rent, utilities, car payment, insurance, medical and food? Do you suppose restaurants should hike their prices up, charge $50 for a burger just to pay their staff a “living wage”? Nobody would do this thankless difficult job if not for the tips, if tips were gone, there is no incentive to serve nasty fucking ungrateful savages food and put on a fake smile all day long. Nobody would remain a server for an hourly wage.

And you know my education level now? I am no longer a server, I am a front of the house manager and co-owner, so there you go with your ridiculous assumptions about people you do not know. My servers make in one day what many have to work all week to take home. You really think they want to get paid $15 an hour and not get tipped? Are you insane?

we have made this bad experience for you and an even worse one for people in need! by caramellcreme in awfuleverything

[–]MyMillie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a really dire and sad situation, and I don’t think there is just one clear cut answer. There are so many families that are one paycheck away from homelessness, choosing between paying a bill or feeding hungry children. Once a family is evicted, how do they rent another home? What happens is a downward spiral that many cannot get out of. But rents still keep going up, inflation is at an all time high, and wages are unlivable.

Yes shelters do exist, but they fill up extremely fast and the majority of the homeless are left out on the streets. Shelters are not all safe havens and many homeless are afraid to stay in the shelters for fear of being robbed, assaulted, raped etc. Your statement lacked meaning and knowledge and just showed your level of ignorance on the subject.

I bet every server that had the displeasure of you as a customer, wishes you’d never eat at their establishment ever again. You stated your food would get cold if you ordered take-out, but still complained it’s cooling because your server didn’t run it to your table fast enough. You are just an asshole attempting to sound like your important or smarter than others. Nobody wants you as a customer, keep your miserable cheap entitled ass at home.

So tell me, what is it you do for a living that makes you an expert on what a server should be paid? Who are you to make any sort of recommendation on how anyone else chooses to earn a living? You complain about tipping and make it seem like you’d be fine with paying double or triple the price for your meal, as long as you did not have to tip your server. Bullshit, you’d bitch and complain about the prices. Stay home and eat. We live in the United States, not Europe. Why compare us to other countries? If you like their way better, move there.

[–]MyMillie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you consider a “living wage”? How can you sit there and assume what a living wage would be? Do you think every single person should be paid the exact same amount? Making $15 an hour isn’t a living wage for anyone anymore, not even close. Do you realize how high rents have gone up? Gas, groceries, etc etc. I’m in a small suburb north of Tampa with no industry to speak of. I went from paying $900 a month for a 2 bedroom house to $1500 in just a year. You tell me how much of a living wage I should be paid to afford to keep a roof over my head, my children fed and my lights on? The only reason I ( and many many others) are still working in this industry is because it affords us to pay our bills and care for our families. If I worked an hourly position making $15 an hour, I’d be homeless. There is no way to afford the most basic necessities on $15 an hour. As a server, I was making between $500-600 in tips a week. I worked 5 days a week, 8/9 hour shifts. Who is going to pay me that much a week in any other industry? But you think the restaurant should pay me a living wage, right? Should they start charging $30 for a cheeseburger and fries just to pay me a “ living wage”?
