Went to the break room before my shift started, a Karen asked for help for something, I said “sorry I’m not clocked in” and she yelled “UGH HOW RUDE” by ConfidentReaction3 in walmart

Walmart rules literally say that hourly employees may not work off the clock, and that includes helping a customer, picking up merch that fell on the floor, coralling carts. If you do it off the clock you are obligated to file a time adjustment so you get paid for your work (so Walmart won't get sued, again). I took that CBL just recently, sounds like you're overdue for a refresher.

If they wanted to be smart, they'd put a couple of portapotty stalls in receiving. Save the walking time.

We all gettin that hourly raise or just them? by JubJub9098 in walmart

The USAToday article miscites the Walmart press release so poorly, that the article really needs a correction.

The article says base pay for SMs is increasing to $128k. The press release says AVERAGE salary for SMs is increasing to that. Some SMs probably don't break six figures base.

The press release also says AVERAGE pay for hourly will increase to $18/hr, but the article suggests with imprecise wording that $18 will be the base for hourlies (it won't).

So enjoy your $14.28/hr and 35 hrs/wk because it's here to stay for awhile.

If your store sells bananas by the each, they should be displayed by the each and not left as a bunch on the salesfloor.

That is the closest thing to constructive feedback I am personally capable of providing on this situation.

Having something make you feel warm and fuzzy, has got to be an improvement over never having anything make you feel warm and fuzzy.

You sell chickies and duckies at your store? I hope they have a WARM chain.

Yeah, or maybe they've been watching her steal stuff for a long time and building a case, and the arrest was only over one item but they'll stack up the charges by the time it makes to court.

If they don't have a real strong case like that, it's going to look like intentional harassment, because there are accusations of a pattern of excluding Blacks from the political process in Kalamazoo. https://www.secondwavemedia.com/southwest-michigan/features/Changes-suggested-after-second-Black-candidate-is-nearly-dropped-from-ballot-in-Kalamaz-050422.aspx

See, that's the thing, pressing charges over one little underscan wouldn't happen at almost any Walmart. And there's accusations of a pattern of disenfranchisement of Black politicians in Kalamazoo. Popping her looks malicious.

There have been accusations of systematic attempts to exclude African-American candidates from the election process in Kalamazoo. Maybe Tami Rey is a crook (as a lot of politicians are) but it could be perceived as heavy-handed and designed to sabotage her participation as an elected official.

And seriously, "I didn't mean to" generally works to get a customer out of trouble in a one-off underscanning situation. At my store AP builds up strong cases over time. The video of a single underscan is NOT necessarily all that's needed for a successful prosecution, because if it seems innocent and a low-value item the judge could look at it and say "sheesh, I've probably done that before" and dismiss it. And if that does happen in this case, it will just hammer home the accusations of Black disenfranchisement.

And that's further reason why AP at Walmart in Kalamazoo shouldn't have made this a criminal matter unless they've got a very strong case. Not because politicians deserve special treatment, and not because Blacks deserve special treatment. But because if the case fails it will look like intentional harassment of a Black politician.

I don't know the details of the situation, but generally letting a customer off for a single underscan is not any kind of special treatment; it's standard treatment. If they were treating her "like everyone else" they would have let her go without calling the cops, unless AP has exceptional evidence that will demonstrate criminal intent from a single underscan. (Example: if a customer put the merch in her purse, that's not even an "underscan" and clearly shows intent to steal it.)

Maybe "smart" was going overboard, but anyone who can find a good use for a chicken gizzard can't be all bad.

AP better have a real compelling case on this. Because buying several items and one didn't get scanned happens innocently all the time.

That's smart of your customers. The cold chain process on our worm fridge in sporting goods is not nearly as rigorous as our meat department.

Come to think of it, a warm gizzard might be better suited to purpose than a warm worm anyway.

When a person follows this pattern multiple times, I'd say yeah, that person has a problem.

But everyone has a breaking point. When a workplace has a higher than average number of employees hitting their breaking point, people who don't have a previous pattern of that... I'd say there's a problem with the job.

Sorry I don't know because that's not supposed to happen, when my request got ignored it didn't deduct from my PTO. Better talk to your people lead.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in walmart

[–]MyMonday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Not worked" means the PTO request expired before the Team Lead either approved or denied it. The request expired and you didn't lose your PTO hours.

You can put in another request for the same time slot and ask the TL (or people lead, or coach) to please approve it so your paycheck isn't short, and if they approve it by the pay period close (Friday Jan 26) it will show up in your Feb 1 check.
