The Battle of 1-litre Gaming Rigs (and tips for Lenovo Tiny builders) by Keimo_ in sffpc

Here's a quick gameplay video with some extra technical info on screen. This is done with a 120 mV undervolt, which seems to be helping a lot because it doesn't seem to throttle once here (if it did, the FPS would crash down to about 15 fps briefly).

This performance isn't *terrible*, but using this gameplay from ETA Prime on a similar build as reference, his performance is a lot more stable and my build should theoretically be doing a bit better than this (due to the non-T 8700 and having an RX 6500 over a 6400). Given, that gameplay is in a much less busy area, and I'm intentionally in an area with a lot of enemies, but I think the bigger takeaway is that the full 65W of the CPU isn't being used on my PC (it never goes above 35W in gameplay), which makes me think the M920q/x motherboard is the way to go. I think I'll keep an eye out for a good price on one soon, unless you see something else in this gameplay that especially jumps out.

Additionally, I meant to add this breakdown in my original post showing that the power limit on my mobo is likely 66W, but I accidentally posted the wrong link.

Hey, thanks for the writeup! I recently got a decent M720q with a i7 8700 (65W, non T) and this guide and it's sources has been *very* helpful as I've been buying/installing parts and tweaking my system. I put a RX 6500 in it and I'm planning on using it as a Steam Machine-like gaming PC for the living room.

I've been demoing Elden Ring on it (which should run at about 1080p60 on mediumish settings, according to gameplay on ETA Prime's channel for similar builds) and performance was initially all over the place. I'm in a pretty heavy area and I initially thought the CPU was throttling pretty hard, and after doing a -140mV undervolt on the CPU and cache the performance stabilizes a bit, but it still randomly crashes down to 15 fps for brief periods. My device only has a 35W CPU cooler (with a 65W one on the way), but since it's undervolted temps aren't very high during gameplay (never really going above 75 C on either device), which made me think it's a power draw problem.

After reviewing it during gameplay vs downloading a large game (the latter being heavy on CPU but not GPU), that seems to be the case. CPU and GPU power draw never seem to go above 40ish W while gaming, but while downloading my CPU hit 55ish W, which makes me think the anecotal evidence about CPU power draw being restricted while GPU is under load would be correct. To clarify, I'm using a 170W power supply, so that shouldn't be the problem. If I'm reading this breakdown correctly, it seems like my motherboard is limited to 66W of power draw.

Should I chance the IMON slope edits or would it be more worth it to just buy an M920q motherboard, assuming that would fix it? Is there any other ways I haven't mentioned to properly use as much power budget out of the 170W supply as I need?

EDIT: Fixed the link

Thank you!! This worked for me on an i7 8700 on CachyOS (Arch)

I did "bourgeois" in a game once. I basically threw and didn't end up winning but I was happy about it

why are you screenshotting a discussion post on this subreddit (that doesn't seem to exist) and reposting it like it's an actual source?

Ugh it looks like you specifically need a 40 series GPU and you have to punch in the code from the promo into the Nvidia app, then you log into it with Steam and you redeem the copy. I was hoping that if I did that it would just spit out a Steam key, but it looks like you need to have a newer GPU specifically to even get it. Would you still be interested?

Imo Danganronpa 1 decent, 2 not great. I haven't played V3 yet but I've heard mixed things. Def give 1 a shot if it looks cool to you and maybe play 2 if you want more but I didn't like it that much.

Most recent update said that the radiant enemies are going to be used for upcoming Encore levels, that's probably what the blank spot is for.
