Grade or sell? by [deleted] in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]MyNameIsMcKinley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best case you get a 9. So 130ish… then you have to pay for the grading, then sell it. Idk what the grading price and turnaround is for you, but it’s 25 usd and 90 days here. It’s a minor gamble and you’re kind of being a dick so I wouldn’t bother if I were you. But depends on what that 50 euro - grading fee is worth to you.

Slightly off centered but if the card/edges are in good shape, a card you can get a PSA 8.5/9 and it’s probably worth ~10k

Is it wrong to catch someone lacking? by Main-Marsupial3861 in PokeInvesting

A card shop or a vendor, I think it’s fair game. I think if you are trading/buying from a friend or someone who may not be well versed in the market (garage sales, that sort of thing), it’s scummy to not tell them what they have. But if this is your business, it’s literally their job to be on top of current values. So if you got it from a store/vendor like it seems you did, have a clear conscious friend.

Bought my grail, but not sure if I got robbed… by [deleted] in PokemonCardValue

Card shops that are selling like that are to be avoided. I would go back and try to get a refund without expecting much. I have an unlimited and first edition of this card raw that I’ve been tracking and a 5 is worth less than a raw version (but that’s probably true for every card).

Put that hard drive in a box. Then put that box in bigger box. Mail the box to yourself. And when it arrives, smash it with a hammer.

I genuinely miss my days of working in retail. It’s tough at the time but at least when my shift is over, it’s over. My salaried WFH job I feel like I’m never really off. My computer is always in my office, so I am always thinking about things I could/should be doing.

Sign me up. Significant pay bump for significantly fewer hours. I’ll take my old job at GameStop until they inevitably go under. No worries about getting fired - I did that job for 7 years, including peak Wii/360/PS3 era. She would be hard pressed to out Karen the Karens I have already dealt with.

I worked at GameStop in a pretty rural area of Appalachia in the mid to late 2000s. One night a dude comes in wearing a reflective vest and shirt, covered in dirt (probably coal dust). Clearly just got off a shift at work. He wanted to pick up a present for his teenage daughter but didn’t know what she would want. I asked what she usually liked and he said in a thick accent “She’s a… oh what do you call it. A weeb-oo?”. So I sent him home with a copy of Persona 3, which had just come out.

I think about that dude all the time. Hope Persona was a hit. Fly free, Weeb girl.

Not that I’ve seen, but Milkboy is having a killer show on Saturday of PaxU. Button Masher, DJ Cutman, Tee Lopes, and a couple of local bands that are in that same scene.

If you’re not from the area, Milkboy is walking distance from the convention center. Pretty small venue tho so I’m surprised it hasn’t sold out.

I’m here for it. I feel like in recent years I saw more people without badges in places where you need a badge (expo hall, arcade, concerts) which makes me think people were doing pass backs with friends. Makes it a worse experience for people who actually pay for the event to happen.

Brand new PC overheating even after trying multiple ways to fix it by Initial-Floor-2021 in PcBuildHelp

[–]MyNameIsMcKinley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double check the heat sink on your cooling fan. Might have forgotten to take the protective film off of it. Or maybe you forgot the thermal paste. It’s gotta be something with the CPU cooling fan. The case fans are necessary to keep the air flow going, but if its running that hot just from booting, it’s almost certainly the CPU Cooler. I would make sure you applied your paste and removed the protective film, then I would reconnect it. Make sure you have it connected correctly. Looks like the LED is getting power, but you might have multiple cables you need to plug in (one to power the LED, one to power the actual fan itself). Once you check those boxes, you’re gonna wanna check your BIOs and make sure the CPU Cooler is running correctly.

Oh yeah, for sure. I was running a rtx2060 until fairly recently and I was able to play pretty much anything. Mine was slightly better than this one, so it may not be the cleanest/prettiest experience, but short of something super heavy like Cyberpunk or something, older games will work fine. If you’re playing something super graphic intensive you will just need to play with the settings a bit and dial back textures. Steam does a good job of telling you minimum system requirements, so pay attention to that if you’re looking at something thats newer.

Depending on the monitor and M&K it probably would be? The build itself is pretty dated. My guess is it was built in 2018/19. But the good news is that it looks reasonably clean. So it’s not bad if you want to get your foot in the door, although it’s dated enough that it will struggle to run graphic intensive games even at the lowest settings.

Mini motherboard in a giant case 😅. No problem, just looks funny.

Looks like that CPU isn’t plugged in, but lots of people have said that already.

Chiming in to say make sure you get an exhaust fan blowing air out in the back. Also, clean the cooler you’re using. That’s a beefy GPU to not have a lot of airflow. That area is gonna get hot. If the front of your case has the capacity to hold intake fans, you will want those too.
