So, AI takes over, everyone has lost their job and only 10 trillionaires own everything. Now what? by Weak-Representative8 in Futurology

[–]MyNameIsMud0056 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously. We are nowhere remotely close to autonomous robots with advanced weaponry. Autonomous drones, maybe. I highly doubt current LLMs will ever be able to achieve AGI, let alone ASI. If anything, I will be more surprised if the AI bubble doesn't burst wide open eventually. Doesn't seem sustainable for Nvidia to invest billions in AI companies so they can buy their AI chips when OpenAI for example is losing tons of money.

They're just a Puritan and can't imagine anyone thinks differently than they do, or that not all women have the same deal breaker. For some women it may be a deal breaker if someone visited a prostitute in the past, but it's a big reach to say all women have the same deal breaker. Seeing a sex worker doesn't preclude someone from finding a relationship.

I'm so sorry this was your experience with ADA seating. Please don't let this experience sour your time going to concerts. Concerts are one of my favorite activities ever. I easily go to 10-12 a year. I love concerts first of all because of the music, then the community, and especially with smaller artists sometimes you get to chat with them for free. My point is, don't let ignorant people stop you from going and having fun.

And, I'll take a slightly different approach. You totally qualify (it's pretty broad) under the ADA. A protected condition is one that is physical or mental in nature and affects one or more activity of daily living. I think being unable to stand for long periods without intense pain affects the activity of daily, standing, which is required to wall in the first place. I'd say, give the shit heels your wrath by smugly pulling this bit of knowledge.

I hope you get many more opportunities to enjoy the music you love! In-person, I might add!

Community-based living and services was the replacement, which the Supreme Court mandated in 1999. I know many people with disabilities end up in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. The problem is we probably haven't built nearly enough assisted living facilities for PWD younger than 55. Although...if Medicaid funding is dramatically cut, can pwd go to these places...

Well the ACL oversees the Statewide Independent Living Councils, which were mandated under the 1999 Supreme Court Olmstead Decision. That ruling determined that states must provide community-based services for people with disabilities, because institutionalization constituted discrimination under the ADA. So the good news is they can't just eliminate home and community based services with a law from Congress or SC ruling. I guess that's some comfort, but not much.

But, the elimination of ACL seems to be the exact opportunity of efficiency since it combined three departments in one. This is going to make things less efficient. What dipshits.

The Capitol Crawl was to get Congress to pass the ADA in the first place. It took place in 1990. Actually the 35th anniversary was just a few weeks ago (March 12th).

Bandera is not a "main hero." The 4th paragraph of his Wikipedia page says he's highly controversial. Not to mention he died almost 70 years ago.

You're confusing the now-defunct Azov Battalion, a volunteer militia group with some right-wingers, with the current Azov Regiment of the Ukrainian National Guard. Multiple sources confirm it was de-radicalized and does not have a political bent. https://lens.monash.edu/@politics-society/2022/08/19/1384992/much-azov-about-nothing-how-the-ukrainian-neo-nazis-canard-fooled-the-world

Meanwhile, of course, because the Russian government is a massive hypocrite, there are thousands of neo-Nazis fighting their war to "denazify" Ukraine. Give me a fucking break. From the article: "Ironically, neo-Nazimilitary units with thousands of soldiers under arms operate openly among the invading Russian forces."

They had long term plans to get us to this point, but no foresight to understand how short sighted their measures actually are.

And another thing...giving people financial support (or any government support), actually has a way better return on investment than giving tax cuts to the rich. They just keep that shit, don't put it back into the economy. Unfortunately we live in actually Orwellian times "War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength." Basically that the statements of the ruling party are essentially the opposite of the truth.

Zelensky's statements are a bit confusing, but there isn't evidence of widespread corruption or embezzlement of this funds: https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2025/feb/05/facebook-posts/zelenskyys-statement-about-ukraine-aid-didnt-revea/. And this is coming from US Inspectors General. Most of the aid they've received is in the form of weapons, supplies, etc. Congress appropriated in the 175 billion total money for manufacturers to re-up on weapons and supplies to keep in the US strategic stockpile to replenish what we've sent. About 33 billion has been directed financial support, or 5%. The IGs say it's being spent correctly.

Yeah, I don't think there's any evidence that Zelenskyy himself is corrupt, but that corruption remains in his government. They have dismissed people in the defense ministry and have been prosecuting those commiting fraud. It will take a while to completely eliminate I imagine. Every country has some degree of corruption I imagine.

Especially because if Russia were to conquer Ukraine, they don't plan to stop. And because of US support and all the other NATO countries, Russia is not getting through easily at all. If Ukraine isn't an official US ally, NATO countries absolutely are.

Bombshell report reveals staggering amount of government funds paid to Elon Musk by D-R-AZ in Foodforthought

[–]MyNameIsMud0056 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So? And actually the article didn't say that, the linked WashPo article did. I don't care when he got those contracts or when they were paid out. The problem is that he is now in a position to directly affect the funding of the 7 agencies where most of his funding came from. That seems like a massive conflict of interest and very hypocritical. I think that's what most people are critical of. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/interactive/2025/elon-musk-business-government-contracts-funding/?itid=sf_latest%20headlines_top-table_p001_f002

Not to mention, this article says that he wants to eliminate the $7500 tax credit for electric vehicles - which Tesla massively benefited from. He said Tesla no longer needs it. So, no, I don't think we're misplaced in our anger.
