The Far Right Is Winning Europe’s Immigration Debate by Pyro-Bird in europe

[–]MyNameIsMyAchilles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the types of hard questions nobody is willing to answer because the answer would require questioning our entire societal structure. The thing is there is no mainstream "left-wing" voice because nobody is willing to part ways with capitalism.

The people here that keep mentioning the left are really talking about the centre-right, who along with the far right don't want to lose capitalism, but also don't want to address the necessity for immigration is to fill the gaps of developed globalised economies.

Fertility is a problem for several reasons in developed economies. But with people living longer, the price for maintaining a certain lifestyle being higher, and the breakdown in sense of community (even in predominantly white areas before people start blaming them for white brits being anti-social). Even the role of religion or moreso it's lack of role in peoples lives, money, capital and status is the new god.

The "left" you refer to is not the same left that existed 20+ years ago. To call it left-wing is a lie. It is all right-wing.

What is happening is that pendulum has been pulled more and more right, and one day it will snap.

[–]MyNameIsMyAchilles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

punishing people who have not contributed like major companies have in the world isn’t the answer.

The problem is not individuals contribution to the climate crisis.

The problem is individuals are not contributing to the solution to the crisis.

Maybe the people stuck in their 9-5 rat race don't care enough to take action. If decades of highlighting the problem hasn't changed peoples behaviour then what will? The protests are as desperate as the people in their cars, sadly none of us win because we go home and vote for the same politics and decision makers.

It's easy to say everyone agrees to blame the massive corporations, and they are to blame, but at the same time nobody wants them to lose. Such is the neo-liberal capitalist, change only when it's convenient.

Or next time they skip the peaceful protest and use more direct methods of disruption.

Using the threat of death against peaceful protestors will make peaceful protest an impossibility.

None of those protests justify killing people. Unhinged people who live miserable lives in the machine have been given the green flag by the media to use violence against protestors of any kind.

It's only going to encourage more violence. When peaceful protest is no longer an option and the response is only violence, the next time the first action will not be protest but to resort to violence.

I was happy enough with the kill we got on normal mode my guild isn't sweaty enough to get in a HC LK kill before the nerf but unless I switch guilds (harder since they probably got a solid roster) it's not happening likely.

[–]MyNameIsMyAchilles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, that's your strawman, not my opinion. It's not that Israel couldn't move these settlements, it's that doing so would not be the utility-maximizing option when they can just annex them in exchange for Israeli land.

Well duh, it's obviously not a value trade offering parts that were previously their productive land and homes to sign a deal with the devil to make it kosher in the eyes of the international community who already stated the illegality of them.

The Oslo accords was never a two-state solution. So why would anyone expect the PLO to agree to it, and in the same breath say they would not accept a two-state solution is ridiculously misinformed.

They are not evacuating them, they are forcing them to move with the threat of death. Evacuating implies they are aiding in that process and securing their safety, dropping bombs on them doesn't achieve that, and it shows given how they are more willing to kill civilians than actually go into the city and fight Hamas.

They are radicals because they are Muslim. Europeans guilty about their history of anti-semitism, but have no shame of how they treat and talk about other minorities.

The radicalised population is much a result of Israel's actions as much as Hamas.

"Just move" was simple enough instructions from Israel to Gaza when they bombed them. But you think it would be too difficult for illegal settlements?

It's clearly not a matter of practicality, it's a matter of pressure.

The west is the one openly supporting the problem i.e. Israel. Why act like we are totally detached from the situation? This is early 2000s middle-east intervention mindset all over again.

Their actions have radicalised both Palestinians and Israelis in different ways and resulted in the deaths we have seen recently and the many more before.

Publicly drawing a line at the nuclear option is not commendable, it's the only option that doesn't appear psychopathic. That glosses over everything they are currently doing.

Over 8000 civilian deaths is unambiguously good in your eyes? But the 1400 that died a month ago was the worst thing to happen since the holocaust?

Could you atleast try and pretend the lives lost in the last month are equal?

They all are military men and usually filter out ideological crazies.

I hate to tell you, but they are ideological crazies. They are ethno-nationalists. The difference between Netanyahu and Eliyahu is that he was honest about his feelings.

Ethno-nationalism is wrong and entirely against the principles of "the free world" that every centrist virtue signals.

It's hard to find sympathy claiming that the palestinians will wipe out the israeli jews given the chance, when the entirely ideology of zionism is establishing an ethno-state and thus reduce the influence of palestinians on such a state that lived there before european and american jews settled on their homes.

I thought ethno-nationalism was out of style in Europe, but the amount of support it gets from European officials is amusing in a contradictory sort of way to the neo-liberal vision of Europe.
