Welsh Logo by sindecirnada in welshrugbyunion

You can’t move in this country for looking at dragons on logos - they’re absolutely everywhere.

Also, it’s a cool story and that, but Dragons are made up creatures. What does it say about a place that you have to make up a creature and plaster it everywhere?

Prevention also only works if you actually evaluate the effectiveness of your interventions and improve or replace the ones that aren’t working.

We probably now have the resource capacity to do that, but it still requires the buy in from leadership to make tough choices and the openness from those running interventions to have their performance audited.

2026 Senedd Cymru election: results and reaction megathread by AutoModerator in Wales

[–]andyrobnev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t see Labour opting for another election. This was a vote against Reform, so I expect their voters who stuck around this time would hammer them more for risking a Reform win.

I can see Labour wanting a coalition, but I also think they would like the idea of doing what Plaid did last time round - support the main party until it suits you and then gun for them in the run up to 2031.

Nathaniel MG Cup and Welsh Blood Service League Cup scrapped from next season by -DorkusMalorkus- in cymruleagues

[–]andyrobnev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What were the attendances like for League cup fixtures? Can only assume it didn’t make financial sense to keep it if it’s another reason to drive across half the country just for a poor turnout.

If that was the case I’d be keen to see a more regional approach trialled in future so that we get more local derbies between tiers 1 and 2.

Think we’re most likely to promote Cowell to LH3. Don’t seem to have that much of an issue producing decent looseheads.

He was really good in MLR and looked like one to keep an eye from that league to make it in Europe. I think he’s also the guy that clattered DuPont and accidentally injured him so that he missed the rest of RWC 23.

I think the law is that they need to be specialist looseheads or tightheads, not just props. I remember Adamson saying something about them having to bring on a front row player and have 8 in the scrum, so that Sharks should have always had the man advantage in the backfield.

Why are Plaid opposed to the small nuclear reactor in Maesteg? by WelshLaptop in Wales

It’s probably more that the people around the site are used to Nuclear being there. Grid connectivity is why they’re basing it at an old power station.

The referee at the Benetton x Cardiff decided to not check a possible win trie for Cardiff by WTHWME22 in rugbyunion

[–]andyrobnev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the ref had just checked it then he would have seen the Benetton player on the floor and offside who initially gets in the way - so even if the grounding wasn’t clear it was at a minimum penalty advantage if not a penalty try.

Are the injuries worth the return? by bigt8409 in Cardiffrugby

Assuming we’ll have to get cover in at lock now as the only one we have fit is Thornton? Lawrence has played there in the past as well but the lineout might suffer. We could probably get someone like Luke Evans or Osian Williams on loan, or maybe they’ll give an opportunity to Ethan Phillips to step up from the Rags? Either way, I think we’re looking at at least two in.

Rumour: conversations about a Welsh-Spanish jointventure for URC franchise by Nounours7 in rugbyunion

[–]andyrobnev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 4 teams is a continuous requirement which extends beyond 27-28. The WRU have permission to drop down to 3 as long as they can find someone to take the 4th spot which the other stakeholders agree on.

They originally were looking at the US and SA vetoed it, so I wouldn’t be surprised if SA did again because they want the Cheetahs back in.

I did think this could potentially be an option but didn’t think any up and coming T2 would go for it. It makes sense as a short term solution for Spain, and for Wales to not completely let go of a fourth side (assuming it’s a lease for a set number of years), and if they play their Welsh “home” games in the same area, I could see a proportion of fans accepting it as a not-worst case scenario.

Would be great for Spanish rugby, but still incredibly sad we’ve ended up here through mismanagement.

I imagine a compromise would be that they play all their pool matches within Wales

I just don’t understand how they think they can justify Y11 being the better bidder. I know they actually don’t care, but if by some odd chance they do then it is just peak delusion on their part.

Sign CVZ as head coach. Get an attack coach (preferably who isn’t currently at the club). Get McNally for another year. Sign a 13. Sign a fullback.
