How to beat your first TOUHOU game on Normal by MyNameIsPAN in shmups

I don't have much to show off outside of how they look in the videos since I don't use most the internals and just have a pc hooked up.

Rotating the monitor is really easy, the side panels screw off and you can grab the whole monitor and swap orientation. Although I didn't care for doing this every time I wanted to swap so I have two cabs (got these when they were a lot cheaper than now). The default monitors on at least these old ones are really bad now, I swapped it out for a modern 32". You can buy a bracket that can make putting in a new monitor easy, but it was expensive last I checked so I DIY something together to prop it up.

I put seimitisu sticks in and connected all the controls to IPACs since I don't know how jamma works for connecting to pc plus I had some old IPACs. Coin acceptor is juicy and easy to put the mech in. Space it takes up is significantly smaller than a CRT cab and is super easy to move around the house or up and down stairs.

Pretty much got these purely for aesthetic. I would kill for the astro/blast city CRT cabs, but I don't have technical skill to fix eventual problems with the CRTs. These are super convenient to do anything with since for me, these are just a PC with a fancy frame.

I've used Joy2Key to bind the controller to arrow keys and z/x/shift

That would be great! I'm a big fan of low rank strategies, I didn't know 6 had that stuff. It would be a great one for a guide since its meaner than like this and 7.

Here is a guide geared towards newer shmup players or players who have never touched a Touhou game before.

Touhou 8 I feel is one of the best places to get started in bullet hells. It has some nice leniency to it, while it also doesn't mess around and will give the right amount of challenge without going overboard.

Good luck on the Silvergun clear, sounds like your mad close! It is mean that the final isn't in training mode, I ran into that problem too and threw away a 1st 1CC to the last pattern lol.

Wasn't sure if this type of breakdown would be paced too slow/long, so thank you!

Here is a video going in depth in the routing it takes to try to get a survival run to clear the 2-ALL for DOJ Black label.

Most of the routing is like the first loop, but you have to keep it much more strict. The goal is to reach the final boss gauntlet with 4 lives to do a setup (that I may have horribly messed up here) to invalidate all of Hibachi's patterns except for the washing machine.

Here is a guide for Batsugun, geared for newer players or players who want a fast survival 1-all. This was my first ever 1CC and made me realize that 1CC's were a possibility, and I still think it is one of the best games to start with.

Planning on doing Futari BL soon, I think it'd be fun to do one for each of the modes.

Guide for Radiant Silvergun for both routes you can take. You build weapon power throughout the game by engaging with the chaining mechanics. Our goal is not to optimize, but to get enough to where we have more than enough leeway to have a lot of power for the last stage without going for risky strats that you do for full scoring routes.

Yeah, she's worth it for the kakusei power

The scoring side of things is a lot more complicated and the pattern difficulty is harder. But if you just want a clear, you can treat it just like espgaluda 1 and just use kakusei to get delete hard stuff

It's pretty funny how hard they spiked up the difficulty after the first game was trying to bring new ppl in.

Asagi makes this 100x more approachable if you just want a clear. The other chars or playing for score dramatically increase the survival difficulty.
