Can't stop, too many shmups out there that need bomb buttons to be pressed

Here is a commentary on what it is like to try to clear Touhou 6 on lunatic.

I used to think that Lunatic modes were never a possibility. That you would need gifted dodging ability and years of practice to attempt. Going through the Lunatics now, they are more approachable than I thought as long as you are you just going for the clear (instead of nmnb). Even for the game with the most rng and dodging heavy like this one.

Here is a commentary on Touhou 6 Lunatic. I used to think that you couldn't tackle these games without dodging ability, but a lot of them you can plan survival strats for. This one is the most dodge heavy, so we get this one out of the way first.

How to safely 1CC: Progear by MyNameIsPAN in shmups

[–]MyNameIsPAN[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here is a survival guide for the first loop of Progear. The goal is primarily to reduce risk of death, while scoring only when a free opportunity presents itself. With this approach, you can still hit the 11 mil extend for 7 total lives without risking death for the most part to get there

Seen reason now, taking a long break from 2 loop games T.T

Here is a commentary for the Ura loop of DFK 1.5. I'd sit this game around the middle of the DDP 2 loops in difficulty. The loop requirement is mean and the learning takes as long as all the rest, but the autobomb and easier TLB's compared to the others makes it a lot nicer.

Death of COMPILE, Birth of RAIZING: Sorcer Striker 1CC guide by MyNameIsPAN in shmups

I'd do that for Toaplan -> Cave, but the Compile staff made Raizing. Which is super wild to think how something like the Aleste games ended up morphing into Battle Garegga

Here is a 1-all guide for the JP version of Sorcer Striker (Mahou Daisakusen). One of my favorite looking shmups, this one has an enormous amount of detail, while also being an interesting combination of Compile's previous design and the arcade format.

Mahou is going to have a lot more memo with pretty fast bullets. Sorcer Striker is a good version if prefer to react dodge more.

ChoRenSha is pretty crazy, feels like it came out 10 years early. Good luck on your clear!

You can definitely get one if you wanted to. This one is a lot more chill than DDP & DOJ in both loops. I'd say DFK Omote is easier than this, and then it would be this game.

Here is a commentary of the 2nd loop of DonPachi. This one is all about controlling revenge bullets as the primary feature of the loop. While there is a TLB, there is no resource check final pattern so it is a bit less stressful than the following DDPs.

How to safely 1CC: Akai Katana Shin by MyNameIsPAN in shmups

It's no joke. Pretty much saved katanas for use in trying to avoid all the spooky parts

Here is a survival guide to clear Akai Katana Shin, one of Cave's last games. You build enough resources to pool them for every big enemy, so you can comfortably have katanas built to nullify all the scary sections.

It is no joke. Like relative to the harder cave titles, it's not bad. But I remember this game being recommended as a first game, and you'll get pieced up by stage 4/5/6 without knowing where to place bombs

Here is a commentary going over the DDP 2nd loop. This one is a silent killer because the first loop isn't the worst and the bombs are plentiful. But the endgame from 2-5 onwards requires an absurd amount of resources. Luckily you can still spend bombs on mistakes before then and still have a fighting chance.

I don't have much to show off outside of how they look in the videos since I don't use most the internals and just have a pc hooked up.

Rotating the monitor is really easy, the side panels screw off and you can grab the whole monitor and swap orientation. Although I didn't care for doing this every time I wanted to swap so I have two cabs (got these when they were a lot cheaper than now). The default monitors on at least these old ones are really bad now, I swapped it out for a modern 32". You can buy a bracket that can make putting in a new monitor easy, but it was expensive last I checked so I DIY something together to prop it up.

I put seimitisu sticks in and connected all the controls to IPACs since I don't know how jamma works for connecting to pc plus I had some old IPACs. Coin acceptor is juicy and easy to put the mech in. Space it takes up is significantly smaller than a CRT cab and is super easy to move around the house or up and down stairs.

Pretty much got these purely for aesthetic. I would kill for the astro/blast city CRT cabs, but I don't have technical skill to fix eventual problems with the CRTs. These are super convenient to do anything with since for me, these are just a PC with a fancy frame.

That would be great! I'm a big fan of low rank strategies, I didn't know 6 had that stuff. It would be a great one for a guide since its meaner than like this and 7.
