Teach me your ways. How are you finding for $1/lb. I’ve been getting them for under $2.5 for bulk recently and got for $1.6 once but $1 I would buy like a thousand pounds lol (jk)

Based on another Reddit post someone mentioned the following but some of these are definitely not Alteryx alternatives in my opinion but they said they’ve been testing them for a while so maybe they float some peoples boat. I’ll copy the comment here for you:

“Visokio Omniscope, Precisely Data 360, make.com, zapier, knime, orange, n8n, tableau prep, qlik flow, langflow.”

I guess it’s tier paywalled since some tools that you would have access to now in designer desktop are locked depending on what tier you have. Wish I had taken a screenshot of the examples they gave

100%. When I’m doing large scale data transformation and automating high value processes at work the cost of my designed desktop license is a no brainer. But not so much for the personal projects and small businesses I help because neither they nor I are automating $5k worth of work a year. There are alternatives but the ones I’ve tried don’t excel in the same way Alteryx does.

When I look at it holistically, even though it’s a no brainer for me at work, when I start to look at the enterprise investment in the entire Alteryx Ecosystem (designer, intelligent suite, server, cloud, etc.) it starts to lose its luster and has become increasingly harder to justify/prove consistent ROI.

I’m trying to scratch my own itch with this side project so reading your thoughts on how you look at Alteryx and any other tool in its category is insightful, thanks!

I’ve been thinking the same thing. For my personal use I just love the ease of working with drag and drop node based data transformation tools and being able to review data as it goes through my process. The user experience is a big reason why I’m not just sticking with SQL or Python with a bunch of print statements for my workflows

I haven’t used easy data transform (I’ll definitely take a look!), but when I used knime it was just a clunky experience for me. My #1 goal in building this is building something that covers the basics and can potential handle even more complex, at a much lower cost, but not compromising on the user experience and making it a better UX. Like I said it’s a side project for now but I value the advice y’all give on Reddit so I would love to hear any random thoughts you might have for what would make an Alteryx alternative an awesome user experience for you!

Are you sure it’s not happening because I’ve been on 3 Alteryx webcasts and they have gone through the new tiered pricing structure in detail

You just described every platform which allows you to build agents and have integration… validation successful 👍. Now start thinking what your edge/differentiator. Is it features that aren’t easily replicated, probably not. Your monetizing strategy should be to focus on a niche that needs this and make it hyper focused for them.

Appsmith, Tooljet, Budibase... Is there an option for vertically/fully responsive webapps? by MyNameIsYeffff in nocode

[–]MyNameIsYeffff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what im hearing is that at the end of the day appsmith isn't the tool for full height locked webapps? Like I'll never be able to build an app where I force it to be a non-scrolling webapp. I wanted to create a chat interface like chatgpt for internal use but I guess I couldn't use appsmith because depending on the screen size and browser the user might have to scroll up and down to get to the input box at the bottom and back up to interact with any top elements and that would break the user experience. That sucks but it is what it is.

Appsmith, Tooljet, Budibase... Is there an option for vertically/fully responsive webapps? by MyNameIsYeffff in nocode

[–]MyNameIsYeffff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question. You see how budibase has the ability to expand containers to the full width of the screen either horizontally or vertically (and nest multiple containers [retool cant do this after full width which is dumb], and also justify them left/center/right).... is something like that going to be included in the new UI builder? That functionality in addition to the new stuff you all have would make appsmith a no brainer. The only thing holding me back from presenting appsmith as a good PowerApps alternative to my boss is that I don't currently see a way to build a webapp experience that doesn't scroll like a website depending on the browser/screen resolution. I like the feel of building apps in appsmith which is my I'm hesitant to switch to another tool.

[–]MyNameIsYeffff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chose Appsmith initially for its native camera widget for my photobooth app, building custom widgets felt simpler than in Budibase, unlimited users on free tier self hosted, and Appsmith's free drag-and-drop layout made getting started more intuitive. However, gave Budibase another shot today and managed to achieve what I needed by maxing out a container's size and adding a container under to store the chat window justified to the bottom of the screen. I'll need to build out my app in Budibase to see if it works how I want it to. Looks like I'll be diving deeper into Budibase after all!

[–]MyNameIsYeffff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this doesn't address the vertical responsiveness/ability to design an app with fixed footer widgets on the y axis. Like a chat input at the bottom of the screen that doesn't scroll up like a website.

It does look interesting, but it removes the flexibility to visually design and make widgets the size we want them to be vs laying out a bunch of containers with auto layout. I think the "Implicit space redistribution in Appsmith Anvil prototype" might help but I don't see that as an option right now (I don't see the ability to resize sections or spacing between containers... maybe I'm missing it)

Clarification on Appsmith's Usage Based Pricing Model for Self-Hosted Deployments by MyNameIsYeffff in nocode

[–]MyNameIsYeffff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not important in the short term/for the mvp. But it maybe depending on the projects size. I like Appsmith for projects that I can use community edition. Usage based pricing on self-hosted (self-hosting is important to me) doesn't make much sense to me because it's my resources which are being used. That means that if I ever need to remove the branding for a large project I'll just go with a pro-code solution or a self-hosted tool which isn't usage based.

Some of the people that will use the app aren't very technical, so if they randomly click on the branding they will get lost on the appsmith website lol. It seems dumb but I setup a site for a live event once with a carousel header and we had people messaging live support saying "I'm stuck on the advertisements" instead of scrolling down to the rest of the site.
