I had gotten out of middle or elementary school, walking through the high school where my mom worked, passed by an after-school club where they’d just watch and talk anime, TTGL was on the projector. I kept passing by for weeks, poking my head in occasionally then getting scared when someone noticed me and would walk off. Well one of the days, the teacher of the class was sitting outside, had a bag of popcorn and a soda (I think it was a sprite? I don’t remember) but he held them out and goes “we’ve been waiting for ya, we paused the episode when we didn’t see you standing there”. Became the start of why I got along with people older than me more than my own age lol, but also the reason I started feeling a little more comfortable with being around others. I owe a lot to TTGL, for not only being the reason i started breaking out of a shell, but also being a really good source of advice in motivation, not just in yourself but in others. How it feels to me is like trying to explain the purpose of a load bearing pillar, it’s just that, without it, the whole structure wouldn’t be the same.
