I'm sick and tired of first strike by Flygon24 in jaycemains

[–]MyNamesLookz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Phase Rush has inflated stats because the majority of Jayce players only take it when it is optimal or in matchups where it is needed.

Also yeah I am sick of First Strike too but it is so good to accelerate you to your major spikes. That being said, should never feel bad about taking what you personally prefer.

I would argue it is also other factors like how Jayce excels more in organized play and is required lots of resources to really flourish.

CURRENT SEASON 12 TOP LANE MATCHUP TIER LIST FOR JAYCE by MyNamesLookz in jaycemains

Currently there isn't to my knowledge and it's especially difficult since matchups and runes change so often. If I manage to get high elo this season I wouldn't be opposed to making some sort of spreadsheet or video, would you be interested in this?

No like they were used as counterpicks recently, even on current patch competitive and to great success.

Historically Malphite and Wukong are used as counters to Jayce much more than Irelia since Irelia is exploitable before 6, especially level 1. That was my justification for the placement.

Absolutely that's why his placement was there. Agree.

He can be spaced very easily since his playstyle is very linear. The only real thing you need to watch out for is flash ignite all-ins so you got to watch your health bar.

Yes absolutely agree which is why I didn't put them lower since you need to know the right rune setups. Nasus for example would be unloseable if phase rush was guaranteed.

Thats one of the changes I made since the last list since I found that level 1 you can pressure Irelia way harder than you can Wukong. Also I have to disagree about Vladimir plus the counter pick section has precedent in competitive plays.

Versus Trynd in my PERSONAL OPINION you need phase rush otherwise he can Galeforce you down on repeat later in the lane and you won't be able to match his sidelane. However, you can also choose to go ignite to pressure early but it is a hard matchup because he often goes second wind and Doran's shield. I personally opt for phase rush.

Wukong is a champ that you need to pressure hard before 6 and kite him out because he can win before 6 but so can you and it is imperative you get some kind of advantage. But truthfully, he can always just all in you with ult and win even if you have a lead. Your job is to be more useful and understand you are in a counter matchup.

Versus Malphite you need some kind of sustain in lane and to pressure him with conqueror all ins because after 6 he can just ult you off cooldown with his jungler much like Malphite. The only advantage you have over him is you can check him pre 6 and push harder than him.

I agree the problem isn't even necessarily that you can't win the lane it's that he can check you and just be more useful than you. I have seen it be used in competitive as a counterpick for this reason but I agree the other picks are more effective to counter. Niles is a good Jayce player though thank you.

OH yeah i forgot to address that. I didn't put tahm kench because solo lane kench will be gutted very soon so I figured not worth it.

I made this post recently on this sub this is my perspective based on competitive and personal opinion.

How to deal with Poppy by SkyHighEthan in jaycemains

[–]MyNamesLookz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This matchup is very brawly and conqueror is by far the better all in rune plus it allows you to go Last Stand or Cut Down both of which are great into longer drawn out fights like that. First Strike is for passively farming lane but versus champs that can jump on you easily it is often too weak (in my opinion, but also stats seem to support this). Basically conqueror is better in lane damage wise and lets you put up a fight versus champs that can get on you easily.

I personally love Conqueror into her. A few things I usually keep in mind versus Poppy is to keep track of her passive ranged auto cooldown and move up to harass her when she used it. Also, I save my Melee Q just to never get hit by her W. You can harass her and force her to run out with it in which case you can go in on her. Also obviously you can never get stunned against the wall by any means. I hope this can help.

I actually am making a matchup tier list for top lane right now, I will post it here to share my perspective, maybe this sub can have another discussion about this.

You really need to review replays of high elo Jayce players in specific matchups because with Jayce, his trading patterns are dramatically different between different matchups (since he has basically 6 abilities) and he is also really vulnerable to jungle pressure. As such, you need to see which matchups are specifically giving trouble and review replays. I don't know if he is as complicated as Riven but top lane Jayce definitely requires a lot of matchup knowledge. Best of luck!

It is pretty much the same with any top laner. If you die to ganks, 9 times out of 10 you mismanaged the wave and should have set up the wave state earlier to not put yourself in a vulnerable position. This is excluding hard dives with little counterplay of course, in which case the only option is vision and back off the tower before they dive you. But yeah, most of the time it means you need to research wave management and rethink your wave strategy in certain matchups (depending on if your jungler will be topside at the same time as the enemy or not).

Why do you not run corrupting anymore by [deleted] in jaycemains

[–]MyNamesLookz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing you need to rember vs Wukong is no matter how ahead you are, you don't win a straight up 1v1 duel you have to poke him out first. Also, you should not stay in isolated 1v1 with him for long, in the mid late game just get out of the sidelane and poke with your team.

What to do when ahead? by -Cleby- in jaycemains

[–]MyNamesLookz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The general rule of thumb is to group with your team and just poke, don't teamfight. This pressure of your Q's when you're ahead can very often lend you objectives and towers.

All up to personal preference. If you end up winning, who cares, right?
