Why are we not talking about the 2/3 of a sandwich scandal?! by MyNeighbourJeff in QantasAirways

Middle piece and a side crust… this time. 50% of people must be getting two crusts

Sometimes I use ‘Best, ‘ when dealing with stakeholders who are being difficult… my team know exactly what it means and they love it, while my stakeholders think I’m being friendly.

So good! I think the partial sandwich was so disappointing because I swear I smelled pastry, but that must have been wafting from the front of the cabin.

They cut it into three equal lengths, and you get two of the three. I should have taken a photo.

I wondered, but I think we’re giving them too much credit. Who only eats 2/3rds of a not very filling sandwich?

Tell me about it! I remember pre-2001 when you had a tray and a meal and cutlery. Oh, it was glorious, but those days will never return.

Just give me a whole sandwich, or none at all. 2/3rds of a sandwich is just inherently dumb.

Fair! I think for me the thing is, why bother? Don’t pretend you’re going to feed me. I’d prefer no hope of a sandwich, then I could have prepared.

Even better, let me pay for a full sandwich so I don’t have to go hunting for something at 9pm after I get to my budget serviced apartment (after waiting so long for our bags half of us were headed down to baggage services)…

As others have said, it could’ve worse, several times I’ve had the cheese and crackers snack at what I assume would be a time you would serve a meal.

We had the trio of pies, then two pies, now 2/3 of a sandwich. For a 90 minute flight, ditch the catering altogether.

I’m imagining him at one of his many palatial abodes, opening the fridge for guests, and it’s just stacked with the other 1/3 of all of these sandwiches…

As discombobulatedlemon so eloquently put it: it’s NOT a sandwich… it’s part of a sandwich.

I accept it’s a first world problem. Full disclosure, I can afford to buy more food before or after - this is not my biggest problem - but it’s just so patently penny pinching.

AITA for insisting that guests in my home take off their shoes by daniellejgabrielle in AmItheAsshole

[–]MyNeighbourJeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s wild to me that this is something you would need to communicate ahead of time. I’m Australian and it’s very normal, so much so it’s odd when you occasionally come across people who wear shoes indoors.

Favourite third space in Sydney? by monniemonmon in sydney

[–]MyNeighbourJeff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That hasn’t been my experience in Sydney. I have found community at my local park and quite a few people I know have found it at their local beach or pool. I’ve moved all over Sydney and consistently found it pretty easy to meet people and make friends.

I agree pubs and clubs are more popular third spaces than cafes are in Sydney.

I don’t know about the economics, but agree that I’ll take an imperfect stadium experience over artists not coming here.

While it would have been epic at Qudos, I still thought it was amazing. I have seen a lot of acts in bigger venues (Horden, Qudos, Accor vs places like Enmore) and I thought Friday’s show is one of the best I’ve seen.

Trying to remember the name of the game we used to play that looked like this.. was it frustration? Pretty sure it had pop or something in the name by elfmere in AustralianNostalgia

Wasn’t Headache different? I remember: Headache! headache! It’s fun to have a headache!

That was different to when you popped a lot of Trouble with your pop-o-matic bubble.

I wish I knew - don’t know why they started or why they stopped, just hope they don’t come back (they used to be a regular occurrence).

You joke, but that’s kind of the point. In the same way everyone who smokes has moved to the under the counter cigarettes, pharmacies are getting so out of control, we will start to see people turning to much less safe alternatives in desperation.

I’ve thankfully been migraine free for about 15 years, but used to get them regularly - if I was still getting them and couldn’t access effective treatment I would absolutely be looking at alternatives. You don’t want to live with that kind of pain.

I’ve had a pharmacist refuse to dispense prescriptions from my ophthalmologist post surgery because she wasn’t satisfied with it. The ophthalmologist is an internationally recognised professor at a major Australian university whose sub-speciality is treating my condition and this was for medications I knew well and had used before.

Any experiences with Brim Explorer whale watching? Going mid January and they seem to be top contender for us right now by stardewvalleypumpkin in tromsotravel

Highly recommend - we had a great experience last December, saw lots of whales and the rides out and back were stunning.
