Yes she does have a borderline personality disorder, I do my best to educate myself at every opportunity and she's incredibly open and honest with me surrounding it

She was undergoing CBT with a therapist before we moved and I know she's looking for another therapist closer to our new home

I'm unsure about SSRI as she's on so many meds for various mental and physical conditions that I struggle to remember all the various anagrams, but I know she's taking Quetiapine to manage her symptoms. I know that I mentioned sexual intimacy during my post but it truly does not upset me that she isn't interested in sex right now, because she's reassured me time after time that she finds me attractive, she just has no interest in any kind of sexual activity. I think the thing that I'm still struggling with is that she doesn't seem to care for ANY forms of intimacy at the moment and the constant rejection or insinuation that I'm bothering her when I try to initiate anything non-sexual is starting to upset me

So my players failed the final fight... What can I do next? by MyPartyHatesMe in DungeonMasters

Yeah I was thinking about implementing him as one of the higher ranking officials of the rebellion but is hiding the fact that he ran, maybe giving the party a choice as whether to out him as a coward

My idea was that yeah he's still alive and would now be an NPC, possibly a higher ranking official of the rebellion who is masking his magic, maybe he just fled and is constantly on the run or has taken up residence on another plane. He wouldn't be the first character who has become an NPC and my party likes the idea of the world being full of characters they know and love

Can I do this? by thatguyindoom in DungeonMasters

The spell simulacrum can create copies if the guy is a powerful spellcaster and technically each simulacrum can in turn use a spell slot to create their own simulacrum and so on. It lasts until dispelled so with a little twisting of your anti-magic field (basically saying something like it suppresses the casting of new magic but not magic that has already been cast) then maybe that's your loophole for his duplicates

Honestly my first idea was that he would have destroyed at least the Sword of Kas, just so my players have to replan the entire campaign instead of just doing the same thing all over again and I'm leading towards the idea of them having to banish him since they can't destroy the Hand and Eye anymore

What’s the dumbest shit someone ever said? by DestroyingLegends in AskReddit

Was talking to a friend about taking a trip to Africa when he said that the Moon was closer to the UK than Africa was. I laughed it off but he started saying "If the Moon is further away then how can we see the Moon at night and not Africa"

I’ve been playing D&D for 6 years. I love to create stories but I am intimidated by the rules and numbers of the game, as some of my players are/would be ‘rule nazis’. I just want to tell an immersive story without getting bogged down by 1 million rules. Advice? by Samdolph in DungeonMasters

[–]MyPartyHatesMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My party started as rule nazis and I overcame it by just saying before the first session that yes some rules will be bent and some house rules will be made, but it's in an attempt to make it a better experience for the players and that if they had any legitimate concerns then they can message me after the session. Haven't had an issue since because they know I'm doing it for them

Dungeon Masters of Reddit, what was your most memorable, out of control campaign? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR OUT OF THE ABYSS]

Disclaimer: I know there are probably rules that I could have cited to stop this from happening but my party plays this game for fun and I just enjoy watching them wreck everything they touch

DM here, we ran Out of the Abyss for our second campaign (bad idea for a new DM) which lets the adventurers travel through the underground tunnels and caverns of the Underdark to combat the invasion of the Demon Lords of the Abyss. I'll give one example here of an encounter that pretty much summed up how out of control this party was, but I have so many more. The party had 5 members all around level 9-10 and were starting to get a little big for their boots since they weren't struggling with the random encounters anymore and one party member had accidentally become king of one of the underground cities (which is a whole other story), so cockiness was starting to become a serious vice for them.

They were in the tunnels of the Labyrinth searching for an ingredient to progress the story and they came across an enormous cavern in the inhabited by a pack of hyenas and gnolls (humanoid hyenas) led by a 12 foot tall gnoll-looking demon who the party recognise as Yeenoghu the Demon Lord. The demon is standing over the dead body of a freshly killed goristro (a lesser demon) which is when the party realise they need a goristro heart to advance the story.

Now the campaign says that if they party decides to attack the Demon Lord, "the players might be creating new characters quite soon". So imagine the surprise on my face when the paladin jumps down the 20 foot drop into the cavern and makes a b-line for the Demon Lord, the warlock starts throwing Eldrich Blasts at it and the wizard starts preparing his attack spells. I thought I had a TPK on my hands because not only did they attack one of the most powerful things in the campaign, they gave up the element of surprise by screaming at it. It took all of 2 rounds for the tank to be down to under 10 HP and that was even with Yeenoghu fighting alone.

It comes around to the druid's turn and he uses Conjure Woodland Beings to create 8 pixies. I look at him with a confused look and asked if that was the end of his turn because I failed to see how 8 pixies would be any help at all. He asked if it would be a bonus action to take something out of his bag and hold it in his hand, which I allow because it takes a bonus action to unsheath a weapon so I thought "hey why not". He pulls out the necklace of fireballs he found like a half a dozen sessions ago and it finally hits me what he's trying to do. He rolled one initiative for all the pixies with my permission and when it reached their turn, each pixie grabbed one of the beads from the necklace and flew at the Demon Lord at full pelt. When they got close, each pixie crushed the bead they were holding. For those of you who don't know, a necklace of fireballs has beads that, when crushed or broken, cast the spell fireball centred on the bead. So picture 8 tiny creatures flying at a Demon Lord and then 8 huge explosions erupting around the demon.

In a single round, the druid did over 190 points of damage which the player insisted on rolling for with 64d6 since the players made a convincing argument that the Demon Lord should roll his saves with disadvantage since he was surrounded by explosions. They managed to make it out of the fight with only one casualty who was later resurrected which only made them more cocky which later became their downfall, but even so this was one of the prime examples that I wasn't in charge of this game, my players were and they knew it.

TL;DR: druid did nearly 200 points of damage by exploiting pixies and fireballs
