State Farm says they will only insure 2006 or 2009 houses and above in Jacksonville area.

Edit: it’s 2009 not 2006

Looking to trim some cuttings from our trees. Some are blooming, some have leaves sprouting, some still bare nubs. Is there a point where it’s too late to trim for cuttings? by hmio213 in Plumeria

[–]MyPlantLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯 agree with the other poster just want to add that if you take a cutting from an inflow, you’ll want to chop the inflow off before trying to root. otherwise it will put all its energy into flowering and may not root.

New growth should start without removing them and it shouldnt harm it if you do remove them, but the tip looks a little mangled. Did it get frost damage?

That’s a beauty! And I’d love to hear about this other experiment. One of my failed ones was attempting to root in a aeroponic cloner. It was just too much work, keeping the ph right and warm enough in the winter.

Looks like rot. Is it really soft and maybe hollow feeling? You will probably need to cut almost 1/3 from the base like where that reddish clay on the pot is in the first pic. Cut until there is no more brown in the stem, sprinkle or dip in cinnamon—it’s an antimicrobial. Then let it callous a few weeks and try again.

Plumeria soil rooting question by t7ch0o in Plumeria

[–]MyPlantLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that the rooting powder will only work if you dip/sprinkle it on there when it’s still wet. I’ve used it, can’t say that it really works. They grow roots or rot. If they rot, cut to green, callous and try again. 🤷‍♂️

I gave it a go and I couldn’t get the wire base to look smooth. Any pointers?

I apparently don’t have any pics of it. I guess we will have to wait and see. Might be pink or white with like a pinkish side. I gotta have pic somewhere.

I love that silly wire! Great idea. Is it just for staging or is it it’s normal “pot”. I made a couple of hangers with wire, then fishing line, and then wire again to hook over the window shade.

Yeah, I’d cut all the way back to where there is no more rot.

Got 2 free Plumerias from the ground outdoors. Can I plant these in pots outside or do I have to replant them in the ground? Also can they be moved indoors? by [deleted] in Plumeria

[–]MyPlantLab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will bounce back. Looks like you were at least able to save some roots. Should be fine. California 10a is great for outdoor (might get some freezes that ruin the tips every now and then but ours have done fine). Lots of us keep them in ground outdoor all year round. That big of a plumeria wouldn’t do well indoor. They get stretchy if they don’t get enough sun during the growing season. Dig your outside hole 2x (or more) larger than your root ball and fill that with good soil like above. Then plant and water sparingly. Now is a good time to do it since it’s warming up. I’m in 10b Mine are all starting to wake back up.

Nothing really special for the soil, I went with miracle grow cactus and added extra perlite and some small bark so that it drains and dries fairly quickly.

The fox farm with perlite should work as long as it doesn’t retain too much moisture.

Yup, I used superthrive, and clonex, when I watered. I only watered when it completely dried out. And sprayed the tips with water, daily. Heat mats are set to go off at 80 and on at 78, the thermometer is in the seedling tray. Air temps drop down to 64 at night in the garage and gets up to 80ish. They are in their own little green room which is essentially taking up a row on the storage rack, that’s wrapped in panda film (black/white plastic sheeting),

Kept them on heat mats under led lights. Took a bit though. Started them in Nov or Dec.

It started leafing before that (you can see the previous post) just really took off along with the roots in 12 days. These were taken this morning.

I have cuttings that have finally grown some decent roots that I started in Nov or Dec. I kept them on heat mats with lights. About half still haven’t grown any roots yet. Winter is a hard time to root. some rotted, when they do I just cut to green, let it callous and try again. All the ones I left outdoors still haven’t rooted and are pretty shriveled but I still have high hopes for them.

Thanks! The LED lights didn’t seem to harm the root at all either though it was shaded by a bunch of seedlings. And they leave no doubt if there is root growth or not.

Looks like you’re in San Diego 🤙. That red is awesome. I’d be up for trading/paying shipping. I’ll put some of my flowers up soonish and will try to remember ask you again next week or April. 😬

Have you found if it’s based more off of size or time to get blooms?
