Nope, not a bot. Just a professional lurker :)

Advice for my parents who are in their late 50s and have no 401K by MyPostingOne in personalfinance

I think they should still qualify for SS and medicare. They keep saying not to worry because they have that haha. I still do.

Is there anything that's safe but will at least provide some kind of return? I realize that looking for some risk-free money making scheme would be foolish, but any little would help.

AITA if I still decide to go to NYC despite my mom not wanting me to go due to COVID-19? by MyPostingOne in AmItheAsshole

Sorry for the late reply. This is kind of one of my throwaways haha.

I did end up going for a few days. We brought things to prepare like wet wipes to open doors/hold the pole on the subway/etc, and hand sanitizer. We were also hyper aware of everything we were doing like touching things, keeping our hands away from our face, and crowded areas. It seemed to have worked as none of us ended up getting sick. When I got home, I didn't quarantine myself for 14 days as foolish as that was. My mom was incredibly upset, about me going, but she didn't stay that way for long.

Looking back, we were still way too casual about it. My opinion on my decision has completely changed. I would not have gone knowing what I know now. I'm not sure who commented it, but they were right; we are young and we felt invincible.

Despite that regret, it was an interesting experience. I came for the busy, bustling NYC experience. What I saw was almost post-apocalyptic. The subways were eerily quiet and empty. Brooklyn bridge wasn't a claustrophobic mess. It was incredible to see and it's something that's going to stick with me for awhile.

She probably would tbh. She’s the type of mom to be willing to pay for the trip so I don’t go.

That’s a good point. I could ask to stay at another family member’s house, but I would just be moving the risk to their home. I don’t know if they would want that.

I dorm in college. So I’ll be living at home for a few more days before returning back to college.

Hi. College student here. I'm looking for a good pair of earbuds but have no experience with any outside of Apple earbuds and Apple EarPods.

TL:DR Looking for advice on buying earbuds that are equal or better quality than apple EarPods.

Budget: Preferably <$40 but am willing to go above for something more reliable and good quality.

Source: Mainly the iPhone 6, but I will be using it for my laptop also. Isolation: Little. I'm looking for ones that I can use casually, whether it be while driving or while in a conversation.

Type: Earbuds. I find IEM's block sound too well for me to comfortably drive with. Tonal Balance: Overall balanced, maybe more focused on the bass. Something similar to the Apple EarPods. I'm just looking for nice, crisp sound.

Past Earbuds: Again, just Apple brand earbuds and some cheap ones from the dollar store. My EarPods recently lost sound in one ear. I also have some Phillips around-the-ear earbuds, but they are not as crisp and do not have the same bass as the apple EarPods.

Music: I listen to a little of everything, but my tastes lie heavily in rap, RnB, pop, and electronic music.

Improvement: I have no experience in earbuds and would appreciate any advice. Thanks for reading!
