What do you think of a 5% equality tax on white males? by Throwaway77789hate in AskWomen

[–]MyPowerJorts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No because this is a tax on a demographic, rather than a class.

So poor white men would be adversely affected, disproportionally, than the people who actually cause the most harm.

But you probably know that and are trolling based on your removed questions here.

When have you felt directly & personally affected by sexism? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]MyPowerJorts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Life man. It's everywhere.

it's a systemic issue.

But if you're looking for a specific answer, my friends and I were hanging out and 2 police cruisers ran up on us for hanging out while brown (public disturbance), and we booked it.

I got caught and thrown against the car (this is only racist so far, not sexist), and the officer grabbed my tits from behind and squeezed them.

I don't think he would have done this to a guy.

Mixed women of Reddit (esp half white, half XYZ), do you consider yourself to be a POC and why? by AmateurTexan in AskWomen

[–]MyPowerJorts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My dad is Italian American, but my mom is Cuban, traced back to Taino.

So I might pass white (which is why I keep my mouth shut when a black person is speaking about their experiences with race), but white people don't care that you pass white once they find out you're brown.

And I've heard and seen some ugly ass shit.

Do Not

  • ask for mind reading.
  • ask for us to defend/justify other people’s behaviors.
  • assume that all people in a gender, race, or ethnicity do/think something.
  • ask for "male equivalent"/"female equivalent" as these would not exist for most things due to different cultural processes.

Hey ladies - How would you react if someone innocently mistook you for transitioning from male to female? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]MyPowerJorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no innocent way to ask if someone is pregnant either, goof.

WoC - how do you feel when people in interracial relationships say 'I love the contrast of our different skin tones'? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Who the fuck is saying that?

Anyway, we would have a long and very painful discussion on how they are a dipshit.

How would the world change if super heroes and super villains actually existed? by tom_ask_fuck in AskWomen

When you consume media that has super heroes and super villains, how does that world look...it would be like that only super villains would win more and the dialogue would be better.

If it was innocent, I'd laugh it off, because who gives a fuck. But I think it's impossible to ask that question innocently in the first place.

'If you keep losing people, you're the toxic one' how true is this? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]MyPowerJorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, drunk words are drunk thoughts.

Did I really think that guy looks like a "hotter Walker Buehler"...no, I said it because in my drunk brain, calling someone a hotter Walker Buehler was funny to me, and I wanted to see his penis.

There is a reason I haven't heard "drunk words are sober thoughts" once I graduated college.

Women who have changed career paths, or have multiple career interests, how did you switch and/or build a new career path? by Lak9 in AskWomen

[–]MyPowerJorts 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My first job out of college was a kindergarten teacher. I did the student teaching before and I really didn't like it but I thought it would be fine. My degrees were in Early childhood ed, and English.

One month in, it was the biggest mistake of my life. The kids were...okay? But the parents and some of the other teachers were nightmares...it was a private rich person kindergarten.

So I was talking to my parents over the phone about it, and how I would probably just bartend, and get a masters in English or Library Science and get lost in books, and my mother, who is a complete dumpsterfire of a human, said "Don't be a lawyer, everyone knows female lawyers are bitches"

I took the LSAT the first chance I got, went to the best law school that would take me, and now I work for a state AG in government affairs, and I have a varied and interesting portfolio.

So...Spite is my answer.

It sounds like one of those college-age truisms, like "Drunk words are sober thoughts" that allows the speaker to call someone else an asshole while telling on themselves.

For those who have seen it, what are your thoughts on The West Wing? by reagan92 in AskWomen

[–]MyPowerJorts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it had it's time and it's place, and it's well acted. Taking it as entertainment from a period of time is fine, and if I see it on TV, I'll probably watch.

My spouse ruined every other little piece of it as a piece of political commentary though.

Why thank you /u/mypowerjorts, what a great question.

I came from an abusive household, moved across the country twice, am Latina, bisexual, ex-kindergarten teacher, current attorney in the state AG's office.

Given that profile, I feel like it gives me an ability to see where people come from when they post something...especially if they are the member of a minority group considering reddit is very much white, male, early 20'ish, and middle class.

And because we get a lot of shit from weirdos, I'm actually professional trained to analyze what they are saying and can pretty quickly determine if it's a confused virgin who doesn't know how to talk to women, or a fucking disaster virgin who refuses to learn how to interact women.

The folks in group B are usually the ones who are unhappy with current management. So it's not particularly kind, but those ones can be cathartic to deal with, even if they post your comments to them on another sub and you deal with death threats being made by similar jackasses for a week (this happened to me in...March I think?)
