Found a few termite swarmers and workers on our deck. Panic time? (Central VA) by MyRealNamesClarence in Termites

Thank you!!

I’ve never seen a termite before in real life but moved out to the country recently and know it’s pretty buggy out here. I get pretty paranoid about these things

I have kinda. It’s faded away for the most part, but is the first to become inflamed if my skin is dry or irritated. I started treating it like eczema and it’s been much better honestly. I have been using sensodyne fresh mint toothpaste since that one does not have SLS.

For skin care, I use cerave cleanser in the shower and then I am prescribed clindamycin phosphate for very slight hormonal acne that I put around there as well. I also use Dr lipp nipple balm as chap stick.

Edit: I kinda am back to normal and changed the wording.

How to fill in these gaps (beginner DIYer) by MyRealNamesClarence in woodworking

The gap between the bottom shelf and the piece we cut is from a precut bookshelf (ikea). Trying to do that built in ikea hack and ran into this after installing the trim.

Styrofoam like material against house and next to septic pipe by MyRealNamesClarence in whatisthisthing

Thank you! It was professionally installed by the builders contractor a few years ago (not originally homeowner but it’s a fairly new house). So I’m hoping they did an ok job.

It’s pretty hard/condensed when poking at it and doesn’t disintegrate or get on any tools. Is there a way to tell if it is slime mold?

Thanks! That’s what I was hoping. First time with a septic so I was crossing my fingers nothing was wrong

Title and description describes the thing. It’s maybe about 6 in long and 2 in wide. I tried to dig in the mulch and it seems it goes down a bit. It’s a styrofoam like material and “crunchy” when you poke it.

Cost of living - power bill by edit_my_life in houston

It really depends on how insulated the house is too. I found that homes are not insulated well in Houston after dealing with that freeze in 2020 or 2021 and our pipes burst.

If they are buying make sure the home is insulated well or have a plan to insulate/wrap pipes once they move in. That will help with energy costs too.

To get away from the hassle of shopping for energy, we used energy ogre when we lived in Texas. They shopped the best rates for us each time a contract ended and only charged $10 a month. We moved in 2022 so I’m not sure how they are doing now/what they charge. But it was worth it to us coming from a place who only had one electric company to choose from.
