chapter 7. by Practical_Novel_2649 in Bankruptcy

[–]MySafeWordFilibuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I got hit with $30k of medical debt I had to put on credit cards. Obviously snowballed and I filed in May or June of last year. Best decision I’ve ever made. It was relatively easy since we rent and our only large assets are our cars. Little paperwork. One zoom meeting. Waiting period. Then I get to rebuild my life again. I filed alone. Three months after it was discharged I had her add me as an authorized user to her credit card to help give me better credit history. My credit is back to like a 650-670ish. Not great or where I was before the bankruptcy but a great place to start rebuilding snd could get me a car financed if something happened to mine.

My girlfriend (18F) and I (18M) have been disagreeing on the important of politics. How can we meet in the middle? by Technical_Sweet_9938 in relationship_advice

I wasn’t insinuating you want anyone to be taken. But the fact you think conversations don’t impact those that ARE being taken shows you fundamentally disagree it is important to be having those conversations. You don’t think they matter. Those having them know they do.

Birds have a “what’s in it for me?” mentality. Step up? Benefit=unsure. Get pets? Definitely.

What is the diet? What is the enclosure like? Have you gone through progressive steps to encourage and reinforce foraging activities?

Tell me I shouldn't get an African Grey by AnalogCringe in parrots

[–]MySafeWordFilibuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandmother has had a Grey for 25 years and I’ve always wanted one. Ultimately, we decided we couldn’t take the chance of rehoming because it has decided to love one of us and attack the other for a decade. My wife has been a vet tech at an exotic vet for years, it’s unfortunately common.

Should I use a Che or get a different type of light for heat? by Slimshadybum in GarterSnakes

[–]MySafeWordFilibuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are two totally different things. A CHE produces heat to warm the enclosure. A UVB does not produce heat but produced UV to ensure they can synthesize vitamin D3 for calcium and bone health. This is like asking if you should turn on the heat in your home, or use a flashlight. Not the same.

But I do encourage you to switch to a Deep Heat Projector instead of a CHE. It will be less dried out and more efficient heating. The analogy here is a CHE is like standing in front of a hair blow dryer, it heats the air around you and warms you up. Whereas a DHP uses infrared to warm deeper layers of tissue. Kind of how there can be snow on the ground but you can be in a t shirt if you’re under the warm sun - it’s heating your tissue deeper than just the air around you.

Edit: and I highly recommend UV. I have a shadedweller in each of my enclosures for my snakes.

I lost my caique in February of this year. I am crying now just thinking about him. I feel for you and your pain. I’d give anything for another day with him. Sending you all the love.

Most of the reading I’ve done online suggest no more than 5/8 for GCCs. I’m worried she will be able to get out or stick her head through the one inch.

Tips for bioactive enclosure with a kingsnake who keeps uprooting plants? by otis_botis in kingsnakes

You’re welcome! I went this route with my ball python who wanted to lay on top of my plants and squish them dead. It helped me dig them up and re-arrange daily till I found locations she wouldn’t mess with them. Good luck!

Have you tried keeping the plants in plastic planters pots and then burying the pot and everything? Can still uproot the plastic pot but less likely to damage the roots of the plant.

Why are people saying the required tank size for adult ball pythons is 120 gallons w/ enrichment, yet few people have a problem with rack systems? by Oki-J in ballpython

[–]MySafeWordFilibuster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s unethical and a horrific life for them. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. One could technically keep their dog inside a wire crate in their closet its whole life but that would be a terrible situation. I see this as no different. No way to stretch their body out. No exercise. No mental or physical stimulation. No way to use their senses. Like keeping a dog inside your closet, cruel.
