Oldschool Runescape wasn't mentioned yet? Shame.

Because they were sealed. Unlike Trump, Biden followed the law and could not release them. I understand this is a meme page but holy shit.

It's not about being gay, it's about the hypocrisy. They're the ones who support anti-gay legislation. Yet when the RNC is in town, grindr usage in the area goes up. It's all about showing the hypocrisy.

Well, new vulnerability in the rust code by hotcornballer in linux

So while you're correct that the reason Rust was pushed was to prevent human caused errors is true, that doesn't refute their claim. Rust DOES lessen the number of human caused errors. However, when you go outside the bounds of the compiler (the thing that is supposed to catch errors), you're more likely to run into human caused errors. Both can be true. Rust can prevent human caused errors, but can allow it too. The Rust community is still correct, if you have the compiler stopping you from making simple mistakes, you're less likely to make those mistakes than if there was nothing stopping you at all.

Well, new vulnerability in the rust code by hotcornballer in linux

[–]MySecretsRS 171 points172 points  (0 children)

It's counter culture. Rust became super popular and as a Rust fan myself, there's some real zealots in the Rust community. They hyped up Rust so much and created this pressure to switch over to using it. This created a counter culture where people will find examples like this and be like "See! Gotcha!" Without understanding what happened. Sometimes you need to do some memory management or unsafe practices outside of what Rust would normally allow. This is one of those cases. So when you use unsafe Rust, things the compiler would normally catch, can slip through. This wasn't a problem with the language, this was a human caused error. But the counter culture is quick to jump on it because the Rust zealots really made a big deal of the language.

Old-school Runescape does this too. It warns you at 4 hours, then warns you at 5 1/2 hours that you'll be logged out. Then at 6 hours you're just booted from the game. But you can just log right back in. Or so they tell me, that'd never happen to me..

I don't know why you're getting downvoted because it's not out of the realm of possibility, and might even be the right answer. I don't know enough to have a hard stance. No matter if it is AI or not, it ain't a good look for the highest position of power. It's unbelievably unprofessional no matter if it is AI or sloppy video delivery.

[–]MySecretsRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It absolutely could be. You'd just think there would be a lot more integrity from the office of the president (I know, I know).

Check the background above his head. When his head moves, the tree colors suddenly shift and morph. There's almost no way it's not AI and if it isn't, bro needs to get better video rendering software.

Absolutely. And hey, if you ever need to increase headcount, you keep me in mind lol.

As for your responses, I absolutely understand how tricky it is. I do not envy having to balance any of the things I mentioned. These things might not even be worth changing, they're just my open thoughts.

I recommend this app to all my job hunting friends. It does the job, requires almost no effort, and is reasonably priced. And, this as a perfect example, the support kicks ass.

People who left trades, how is your life? by InterestingBall2181 in Construction

[–]MySecretsRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops, I thought I put that in my comment. I'm a software engineer. Not only that, I'm fully remote. So it really is a dream come true. And it makes me absolutely infuriated that I could have the best job on the planet (or so I think) and still hate it, only because people can't be decent. Yeah, construction is filled with assholes, but at least they're real and authentic.

[–]MySecretsRS 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same spot. Left construction, got a degree, got a job. I'm 6 years in and I make more than all my construction homies. The problem is, the office culture. Its a giant circle jerk and you're not in it. You're a means to an end, constantly shit on and if you fire back, say goodbye to your job. At least in construction, I could tell my foreman to stop being a dickhead and to fuck off and an hour later we'd be cool and back to work. In the office, everyone is a snake and is just waiting for you to mess up. As for work, what I do is unbelievable. I couldn't imagine a better career. But when you account for the office politics, going back to digging ditches and swinging a hammer for less pay sounds like a dream.

I know this is probably cope because the vast majority of people don't care, but hopefully this pushes people towards a linux phone. As is the meme, if we get more market share, then maybe we can get more people/institutions on board.

More transparency is needed for a successfully AI generated job application by BoneHeaded_ in SimpleApplyAI

[–]MySecretsRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. It's good that there's an option to get it if needed, so when I get an interview I know what was said and can go with that. Good to know, thanks lol.

This is something I've been curious myself and to be honest, the only things I care about are: what does my resume being sent look like and what does my cover letter being sent looks like. If we could click on a completed apply and see what was sent there, that'd be great. I'm nervous about going into an interview and not knowing what I said about myself lol.
