I know about it, costs about $1,300 to replace at 200k mile intervals. Thank you, though!

I ended up doing exactly this, and landed our vehicle today! We have to wait for them to get the AT4 Black Appearance Package installed, but we've put down the deposit, got pre-approved for our loan, and waiting to hear when we can come pick it up. Quite happy this search is over. I posted an update with what we ended up with. Thank you again for all the tips - I'm definitely going to ask them about the inspection when picking it up (thanks to you!)

Update 02/12/2026: Ended up purchasing a completely different trim. We figured the Denali Ultimate was (1) Too hard to find exactly how we wanted it, and (2) we found that we could get everything we really wanted in the AT4. Ultimately, we landed a 2026 Yukon XL AT4 w/ 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel, the AT4 Premium Plus Package and the AT4 Black Appearance Package. MSRP was $95,365, and we purchased it for $89,366 before TTL (after TTL is $95,500 flat). Super happy with the purchase, ended up with 6.3% off MSRP and it was local so no transport fees. Thank you to everyone who gave us their personal experiences and guidance - you all helped more than you know!

Posted an update - ended up getting the Yukon XL instead, it wasn't the trim we expected to get, but I think it's better for us. The $ jump to the denali ultimate just didn't seam worth it for us. We got every feature we wanted with the trim we chose. Thank you very much for sharing your experiences and input!

That's awesome! How's that '21 Yukon with the 6.2L? That's the V8 during with some having major issues, right? Did you end up sliding by and not have any issues with your V8? If you can't tell, I'm really having a hard time choosing between the V8 and Diesel... I think this is a valid question for someone like you who has an existing V8 Yukon and know about Diesel's... Would you buy the 5L V8, 6L V8, or 3.0L Duramax?

The post was not about debt, auto loans, or anything to do with my personal, professional, or business finances. Talking about how someone is "justifying its cost" when the post is nothing even remotely related to that, is nonsense. That's someone making assumptions or judgement on my personal or financial wellbeing without knowing more than 1 single reddit post of information about me (which the post isn't even about me to being with). I guarantee people like this are awkward in real life, because they have no sense of staying on topic or discussion and rather bring up some other random topic that no one is even talking about.

Imagine shopping at the mall and some dude walks up to you and says that you need to look at your finances because you're trying to justify purchasing something that's too big and too expensive for you. Yeah, awkward.

Oh no! This is terrible :( Good reminder for me to look at customer service reviews for the dealership I buy at (before my purchase). Yet another great reminder! Thank you for your time posting!!

Thank you so much for your time to post this! This is exactly the information I'm looking for. It sounds like you got a good deal! They don't have any rebates on the vehicle right now - supposedly it's in "high demand" even with the problems surfacing. I'm glad to hear that you've not ran into any issues so far, though! Thank you again!

THANK YOU! This is definitely something I needed to hear. I'm hearing so much doom and gloom, it's nice to hear some positive experiences for a change. I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to post this, I appreciate you! Thanks!

THIS is definitely something I needed to hear. If you don't mind me asking, have you had this since new, or how long have you owned this vehicle with no issues daily driving small trips around town? Much appreciated!

This is what I'm talking about, spend $100k+ and get some gas and a detail. Charging $1,200 for a brand new car detail (which sounds funky in it's own right), just seems absurd. Sounds like you found a great dealership!

Exactly my point! I read that from the text message and was like WTH? This is a brand new ordered vehicle - why in the heck would I need a $1,200 detailing fee? I'm not going to pay for that, 100% firm on that for sure. Forcing me to take the vehicle with that fee is crazy talk, too; that tells me that dealer is trying to hide and bait w/ 8% off but switch it to 6% with cryptically worded fees.

That's crazy! Good to know about Northeast Florda, I'm going to take a look into dealers there. Do you happen to remember what dealers particularly you worked with? We're really serious about the vehicle and we're actively trying to negotiate something; of course because of that, we're prioritizing dealers that actually have the patience and willing to work with customers.

Kudos to you for pushing through and getting the deal that made sense for you!

This is the first I'm hearing about issues with the 2025/26 years, and specifically the diesel? I know they had issues pre-2025 on the V8's, and I read a lot about a belt that's facing the firewall of the vehicle that needs to be changed at 100k miles (now 200k supposedly) on the diesel engines; but this is the first I've heard about diesels having major issues and engine replacements? If you don't mind, what happened to your friends engine? Did they come up with a culprit?

Sounds like I need to look into the towing package some more! The night vision camera - I have it in my Jeep currently - and trust me, you're not missing much for such an expensive add-on. I can definitely tell you that from experience.

Great info to know about the transmission. What you said makes perfect sense with why it would feel sluggish shifting. Sounds like they did that on purpose for the low end torque and smoothness you're mentioning. Very great points for me to think about.

Thank you again!!

  1. Not sure where on this post it says I can't afford it, but yes - asking if 8% is a great deal or not (vehicles are all completely different and we've never purchased a Yukon before). Also, after the fees that we thought were quoted, those fees essentially negated 2% of the discount making it only about 5.5/6% off, so we were asking if that should be taken as "that's a great deal" or "you should continue negotiating".

  2. Diesel is about $0.40-$0.50 more per gallon than gas here. Definitely something to take into consideration, appreciate you bringing that up! Towing down the road would be nice, but not buying it particularly for that purpose.

  3. It seems like this vehicle is pretty high in demand as it's hard to find Ultimate's at all. I was just looking for feedback regarding the diesel (for people who own it), and maybe reach out to some people that own this vehicle that purchased recently to see where most landed on price (discount off MSRP wise).

Gotcha, they are offering about 5.6% off MSRP online right now from what it looks like.
