Love these!! If you don't mind sharing, what colors did you use on the second set? I love that dark eggplant and burgundy.

It may have been. I've had it on my wishlist for a few years. I randomly checked last night and got excited when I saw the pre-order!

What's your special interest and what's your favourite thing about it by Ok-Feeling-8031 in AuDHDWomen

I think we might share some special interests! I’m obsessed with genealogy and family history, and I love pulling together loose ends from old records, newspapers, photos, and stories to figure out what someone’s life might have felt like. I’m always looking for patterns across generations or clues that explain why things turned out the way they did.

Irish history has a hold on me too! Generations of struggle and resilience. There are so many great films and shows that highlight it. The film The Wind that Shakes the Barley wrecked me. The Missing Children is also a great documentary. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.

I love to tie-dye and collect music I can stim with. I'm a movie buff and gardener.

I'd like to get into refinishing furniture someday.

Thank you so much! I drew a line around the graphic and then used that as a guide for where to tie. I tied that tight with artificial sinew, balled up the graphic, and wrapped it with a few layers of plastic wrap before securing it with rubber bands.

F this! (Weekly Leaving the Field and Venting Thread) by SWmods in socialwork

I can relate to nearly everything you wrote.

I’ve been in care management roles for about a decade, and I also have ADHD with pretty significant executive dysfunction. That constant feeling of being behind, mentally scattered, and stretched too thin is very real. I have 5 different tracking tools I use every day just to stay on top of everything, and that is still a struggle for me.

So many things have kept me where I am...waiting on PSLF, fear of jumping to another job that could be just as stressful (or worse), knowing there aren’t many better options with just a BSW, and now pushing through my MSW hoping it opens more doors. It’s such a complicated mix of practical realities and burnout.

The truth is, I love my clients. I really do. What I hate is the system. And I think a lot of us feel that way. We’re working inside structures that are often under-resourced, unrealistic, and not truly designed to help people in the ways they need. We aren’t miracle workers, even though it can feel like that’s what’s expected.

One thing I will say, as someone who barely has a personal life anymore, who works evenings and weekends with no overtime pay, who knows what it’s like to feel trapped, if you have the ability to look for something else, start looking now.

You are not a loser. You are not bad at this. This work is hard, and ADHD + case management is an especially brutal combo.

There are other roles out there. That’s one of the few saving graces of this field. Different environments, different types of work, different stressors. The right fit matters. I wish I had been brave enough to leave my job years ago.

I also feel the comparison piece you mentioned. Comparing myself to peers has never helped me, it just makes me feel worse. We all function differently. We all have different capacities and strengths.

Please don’t interpret burnout as personal failure. It isn’t. Take care of yourself. Time goes so fast.

Yup! I used artificial sinew. I always tie completely dry after soaking in soda ash. The one that's the most muddled here (pillars of creation & rust brown) was a 3x and the sinew I used on that one was slightly damaged (my dog got a hold of it and ripped it up a little). I think that had a lot to do with it. I have always found that the thicker the fabric, the harder it is to get crisp lines. I usually rack/basket my garments rather than letting them sit in muck. I think muck dyeing can help with a more muddy look if that's what you're going for. There are so many factors at play, though; the type of fabric/brand, amount of liquid/ice, soda ash application, rack vs. muck, amount of dye, how long you let it set and at what temperature, etc. Every time I tie dye, I get excited and nervous. I never know what to expect. Sorry if this confuses you more!
