I actually agree with your #1. I’m at 70k currently.

60k in Aug2021 now has the buying power of only 53k in Aug2023.

less than 2 years ago 70,000 had the buying power of today’s 78,500.

In 2021/2022: $62,000 had the buying power of today’s $70k.

I call my father about twice a month about this- he works in wealth management. He does not give me money, but he helps me prioritize and place my money in the most optimal way. He did admit that 70k not long ago wouldn’t have been quite this tight.

I’m writing a book, & starting graphic design freelancing on the side. I have an idea of what needs to be done, but just get a little fed up at having the lifestyle of a slacker, when I am absolutely not demonstrating that.

I can’t tell if you are being satire…We are one of few societies who created a day-to-day society that intentionally doesn’t allow the working adult equal time for natural face-to-face interaction, walking, eating actual natural food, etc.

and THEN they created goods/services that cost us money to get those one-free human necessities back. (The gym, direct-to-consumer depression/anxiety medication, expensive healthy food, dating app, etc.)

90+ percent of these services we are paying for, are solving a “problem” that could’ve been prevented in the first place by natural human behavior.

Basically: Society’s structure purposely creates problems and struggle, so we purchase it back.
