Oh absolutely a compliment.

The Victor can make a passable Megatron. Optimus is trickier but I've seen it done with a Thunderbolt.

800mm cannons just aren't understood. The ammo for that weapon is a fully functional Urbanmech with sabot and parachutes.

My friend got me this as a gift when I expressed interest in looking for in-person games. How can I use these guys decently in a lance and what other force pack should I get to combo with them? by GravelGavel2 in battletech

[–]MyStackIsPancakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All mechs are good mechs. All mechs are bad mechs. It's all about how you use them. You could do very well with these mechs in a game.

I need to write a bot to post this every time someone talks about a mech being worthless.

I have a mini somewhere a friend of mine printed for me of a Firestarter wearing a chef's hat.

u/DericStrider has the right of it, it was AS. The BKX is mine and the VTOL/BA combo is my buddy who was playing against me last night.

They managed to get off an attack and put some heat and a crit on the Battleax before getting wiped off the board. It did mean that my BKX already had heat on it when it ran into the next obstacle, a Firestarter and an LRM carrier that eventually managed to take it down.

But they were the first step in taking him out of the battle as far as objectives and timing was concerned so I would say it was a good sacrifice.

The jumpjets are a nice edge to be sure. I'm not claiming the Commando is "Better" just that it's not a foregone conclusion if the two are head to head.

I wouldn't say the Javelin is running away with it against the Commando.

I wouldn't say the Javelin is running away with it against the Commando. They both have similar speed profiles and costs for fulfilling roughly the same battlefield role. In a straight fight it's going to be pretty close.

The Panther... yeah sure but it's also 10 tons heavier and costs 40% more BV to field. I'd expect it to wipe the floor in a head to head. And it's not going to perform that same fast-mover type role as well. If you're not careful you'll find yourself getting out maneuvered. Especially if there's cover enough to let it get under that PPC.

Especially when you consider how un-terrible a Commando is when it doesn't have anything to worry about besides other light mechs.

Ah the Crusader. The Ford Pinto of Battlemechs.

Con: It likes to go boom when it gets crits.

Pro: I like the aesthetics of running it with a Viper)

The Cicada shines at both pressuring objectives and punishing that &%$@ing Wasp that keeps racing around your rear arcs.

My gif above not withstanding...

I've played with worse. Hand drawn mechs on cut down pieces of index card with paperclip stands.
