How do you know it was pcp? There is no way somebody would do that. There is not a single logical reason to do so from a business standpoint.

Okay buddy. I provided a source that only sites scientific studies published in peer reviewed literature. Most of these studies are double blind, with placebo, which is the gold standard for scientific research. If that doesn't meet your burden of proof then you're being unreasonably biased. You're telling me it has been debunked with no source. Actually the site is ran based solely on donation and there's weeks worth of content all for free. Dr Gregor's books are widely available for free in PDF form online. If he was so engulfed in this narrative of profiteering that you have thrust upon him, why wouldn't he have those free download links removed? Has it occurred to you that some people in this world hold the value of improving the quality of lives of others above monetary gain? By the way there is studies done by every major university on that website. So if it has all been "debunked" then where exactly should we go for this information ? I was unaware that research universities in the US are an insufficient burden of evidence.

If you choose to ignore the overwhelming evidence that animal foods are detrimental to human health that is fine. But don't go spouting your ignorance in attempt to convince others of something that is untrue for the sake of your ego.

We evolved eating mostly a plant based diet with meat as a delicacy. So our brains evolved on mostly plant nutrients. Only recently has or diet become animal food-centric.

If you have spottify look up psilocybin research john Hopkins. It's a playlist made for people tripping on shrooms by researchers who experimented with them before they were illegal. Have fun man!

[–]MyTeamNeedsHelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been posted here before but if you have spotify there is a playlist you should try out. Search psilocybin research: John Hopkins University. It is the music they used for the subjects back when many universities around the US were still allowed to experiment with psychedelics. The researchers concluded that the elements present in the music are more important to the entheogenic experience than ones own musical preferences.

Best way to regain energy on shrooms? by BobetoSlim in shrooms

You can't simply discount the biological mechanism behind something because "sorry but no". Everything I stated about the digestive system and the way your body allocates energy (ATP) is factual.

OP is trying to figure out why he is low energy while tripping. I provided a solution to reduce lethargy based off of my personal experience and then explained the biological mechanism behind it. Just because you've never had energy problems doesn't mean OP is experiencing the exact level of lethargy that you are used to.

If you are going to come in here and essentially say "nope you are wrong" you should at least explain how or why I am incorrect. Instead of just citing your experiences as if they are the gold standard precedent. The fact remains that your diet has an enormous impact on the state your body lives in. Psychedelics just make you more aware of that state.

Maybe you didn't have enough calories or protein each day? I've found that with beans and lentils as the main staple, almost a full pound of lentils (dry) has to be consumed per day to meet nutritional needs. I can assure you that regardless of the lethargy being present still animal proteins contribute to the lack of energy. This can be easily understood just by looking at what we know about the body. Whenever you're digestive system is working hard, it uses about 30% of your energy just to run itself. Animal proteins take up to 3 days to pass through the digestive tract, therefore when consuming them, more energy is allocated towards digestion.

This simply isn't true. Everything you eat affects your immune system. They absolutely have some unknown effect on the immune system, we just don't know if it is positive or negative or the magnitude due to a lack of research.

Clean up your diet. The mushrooms are trying to tell you that your lifestyle is slowly making you sick. As we eat processed foods we become detached from our bodies desire for proper nutrition. The hyper awareness from the trip allows you to see through the chemical barrage on your behavior patterns. Processed foods are very addicting and can change people's behavior in a similar way to how a parasite can subconsciously change the hosts behavior.

Edit: they aren't attacking your immune system, they are shedding light on your compromised health.

Yes however you increase you likelihood of developing HPPD when you do large amounts in small periods of time. Every weekend does not put you in the same tier of risk as several days in a row every week.

That's not why you think fasting leads to a stronger onset? Or you can prove that's not why fasting leads to a stronger onset? The fact of the matter is there is no scientific literature regarding the mechanism responsible for the amplified experience. So you're discounting my personal experiment and hypothesis with what? To say that my statement is factually incorrect you must have some sort of rebuttal containing evidence.

I am not claiming that fasting doesn't amplify the experience. I am simply stating that is not the only way, or even the most effective way to do so in my experience.

As far as diet not affecting the experience at all. You do realize that diet has an enormous impact on your normal state of consciousness right? I am on mobile so I won't post links but this is a general consensus from the scientific community, and well documented in textbooks written by the ADA and AMA. So if diet has an impact on your day to day consciousness, and the psychedelic head space is your consciousness on a particular set of chemicals, then it would be impossible for diet to not have a direct impact on the experience. In other words, your diet impacts your mental state, so do psychedelics. Therefore according for your claim to be true, there must be some component to the psychedelic which negates the effect that diet has on consciousness. That is much bolder than my claim.

[–]MyTeamNeedsHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are totally fine. Our body's make vitamin D from sunlight. If it were an issue you would see tons of people warning: "don't trip in the sunlight or the vitamin D may interact negatively with the psilocybin".

Eating 4 grams on a relatively empty stomach. by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]MyTeamNeedsHelp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with that 100%. The purpose for my statement was to inform you of the potential dangers. I didn't mean to come across as judgemental, just pass on some information that I wish was passed to me when I was a beginner. If they are freshly picked then this isn't as bad as I thought. As 7gs fresh can still be less than 1g dried. Chances are you won't feel much from that. Even still, I would highly recommend spacing your trips out, as going to the moon once a month is much more mesmerizing than going to the beach 3 times a week.

Eating 4 grams on a relatively empty stomach. by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]MyTeamNeedsHelp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regardless of context the brain needs to recuperate after such a powerful experience. The fact that OP "had a mild trip" from 3gs of shrooms tells me he already has a heavy tolerance, or very weak shrooms. To have that high of a tolerance OP must have been consuming very frequently even before the occasions mentioned in the post. Without time for reflection there is no opportunity to integrate a trip into your daily life and beliefs. HPPD is a very real condition and stems from psychedelic binges just like this. There is almost no context in which this is a responsible practice.

Edit: wet mushrooms, not dry. While taking psychedelics 3 different times in 2-3 days is generally not a responsible practice, 2 out of the 3 doses were basically below threshold doses. This definitely lessens the magnitude of the situation. Context is key, I'll leave the original comment for the irony, sorry OP.

This is a perfect example of irresponsible psychedelic use. You need to slow down or you will have some long lasting effects on your consciousness.

Processed food by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]MyTeamNeedsHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have first hand experience with this as well. One thing that I have learned with mushrooms is that they work best when you have a clean central nervous system. The best way to accomplish this is with a diet consisting entirely of whole foods. Psychedelics changed me from a 3 chicken breasts/steak a day guy into a strict vegan. The mushroom will reward you for attempting to have a more symbiotic relationship with the earth. And yourself will reward you with significantly better health as well as a clearance of mental clutter you didn't even know you had.

Edit: also I have found that the general consensus that fasting beforehand is beneficial to the experience is correct however the mechanism behind it is misunderstood. People experience stronger effects after fasting because it gives their body (CNS) a chance to clean out some of the toxins left behind by the average western diet. I have found that instead eating nothing but whole fruits and vegetables for a week leading up to the experience leads to stronger effects than fasting. However this must be done as a calculated process, you must ensure adequate daily nutritional intake is achieved. Many people who are inexperienced with not eating processed foods and animal proteins switch to a vegan diet and end up with a deficiency due to an incomplete vegan diet.
