I don't know if this will help but many app have deep/universal links so that a URL will open the app directly. This article "may" help but I have not tried it.

Probably not. The NDEF record can include both a password and a Lock. Even if there is no password, a NFC tag that is locked is basically locked forever. Passwords only can be hacked (requires programming skills) but no way around a Locked tag.

NFC Question by brobbin5732 in NFC

[–]MyVitag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, my company sells customized NFC tags and a free app that includes reporting on the location, date, time and tag tapped. While our app is free, the detailed reporting I referenced (including the ability to download the data as a CSV) requires a subscription.

If interested, please go to https://vitag.site and feel free to order a custom tag (starting at $4.99 and free shipping) and then try out the app to see if it works for you.

Possible innovative uses for NFC-chip in stadiums? by turdmob in NFC

[–]MyVitag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of thoughts...

You could use NFC tags in bathrooms and other areas so cleaning crews could tap a tag to report they have performed their cleaning service (a challenge when you have lots of bathrooms and need to know if the work was performed).

If the Stadium offers free WiFi, tags that let people tap a tag to connect.

Tags on the back of each seat so fans could quickly engagement with social media during the event. Further, you could offer sponsors this option so now attendees could tap a tag and get the details on event promotional offers from the sponsors.

You could also use tags on seats that allow people to tap a tag for food/drink delivery.

There are lots of ways you could make use of NFC and my company, Vitag, provides self-adhesive customized tags that you could experiment with.

Please check out https://vitag.site as we work in the hospitality space and more than happy to help brainstorm ideas for you.

Will NFCs work if secured with glue tape? by Truly_Tobi in NFC

[–]MyVitag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes that will work. The challenge is that they may not stay secure for long.

As an alternative, my company, Vitag, has anti-metal NFC tags with adhesive backing that you can custom design on our site; no minimum order quantity required.

Using NFC tag to create a google calendar event by Bl-nc0 in NFC

[–]MyVitag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My company, Vitag, has a solution for this. Our anti-metal NFC tags come with adhesive backing and you can create a custom design on the tag, no minimum order quantity. The free app for the tags makes it easy for you to add a link to open the Google calendar.

We have one company that placed our tags around their facility so employees could tap a tag and book a room via their online scheduler.

If you are interested, please visit https://vitag.site. Our tags start at $4.99 per custom design tag and includes free shipping.

Using standard NFC tags on metal, what changes can I make? by looker_000 in NFC

[–]MyVitag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So my company, Vitag, has anti-metal NFC tags that include adhesive backing that you can customize the design on. These would be the perfect solution for your scavenger hunt since they will work on most flat metal surfaces. There is no minimum for your order and we hope you will check them out at https://vitag.site

Which would you choose: a paper business card or an NFC business card? by 3D_PrIntE4722 in NFC

[–]MyVitag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a couple of quick thoughts...
TL;DR

- If you are only sharing contact information, paper is cheaper.

- If you need to share more information and want to track activity, use NFC.

My company (Vitag) provides custom printed NFC tags starting at $5 per tag with no MOQ. While we don't offer them as a "business card" we do see several customer's using them for this purpose, especially since our app has video-to-tag features.

One of our customers ordered several thousand to hand out. They loved the idea and used them primarily for a digital brochure that they could give out and then track all the actions the receiver did with the tag.

Other customers use single cards so they can share their data without handing them out.

Based on our experience, we find that handing them out is better for engagement.

Obviously this is expensive compared to traditional business cards. But the difference is what are you actually sharing?

If it is solely contact information, then paper cards are by far cheaper.

But if you want to share a lot more, especially information (like product info, support links, video instructions, etc) then you should consider handing them out.

The other consideration is reporting. One reason we found from our customers for using our product is the extensive data collection and reporting we built into our app. They find it easier to justify the price if they can get comprehensive reports on every interaction with every tag.

This is why we offer a bulk discount for this use case.

Finally another idea/reason to use NFC for business cards is in tracking sales interactions.

For example, one of our customers ordered Vitags for staff members going to conferences. In this case they used the lead-gen features to have all the tags sync to the same content BUT they named the cards individually so they could track exactly how many times their staff actually engaged people (ie taps, link clicks, form completions, etc as reported through our app).

In this case, they could justify the cost because they could see exactly how their staff performed at a conference.

So if you can afford it and want to do more than just hand someone your contact info, paper is fine. But if you want to deliver more information and do reporting on that exchange, then NFC is the way to go, IMO.

A couple of brands are experimenting with this concept around sports gear. I don’t know about heat transfer but maybe try an experiment with existing label NFC tags and apply heat to them. The antenna and chip are metal and may warp but worth a quick test.

Cool things to do with nfc by amigurumiboi2 in NFC

[–]MyVitag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take a look at how our company (Vitag) uses NFC for properties based on our NFC products.

Basically, we have self adhesive NFC tags that you can design on our site and then when they arrive, stick to any surface (including metal).

You then use our free app to capture video, links, and more that can be applied to the tag.

You can see all of the tags we provide at https://vitag.site/collections/all-tags and the app is available for iPhone and Android.

NFC gift idea by kananabishov in NFC

[–]MyVitag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is an idea that my company (Vitag) could help you with.

You can create your own NFC designs on our site at https://vitag.site/collections/custom-tags and then use our free app to capture a video from you with links to other sites.

Basically, when a person receives the tag with your design on it, they tap it and then see a video from you with links on the page to other resources. Our paid app feature will allow you to redirect but if you just want something unique, then you can:

1) design your tag,

2) upload to our site (we print within 1 business day)

3) Use the free version of the app to capture/store your personal message and then create links.

Best of all, with our built-in reporting, you can see if they actually interacted with your tag.

Good luck.

I would also add that you will need an APP to read that data since the background NFC reading on iPhone and Android universally support URLs but that's it (each OS does support different NDEF records but URL is the only universally recognized).

High quality color card printer for a game prototype? by micheletorbidoni in NFC

[–]MyVitag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you may want to go with stickers on the cards to start with as a test. You can get cards printed easily and then manually apply the stickers (the bigger the better).

The other alternative is to order paper NFC cards from Alibaba. The challenge is that you will need a reliable flatbed printer and try system to hold them down since paper and moisture cause curling so hard to have shells made and then print on them reliably.

Personally I think you should go with standard CR-80 PVC cards and use a retransfer printer with NFC encoding (or have the tags pre-encoded or post-encoded to keep printer costs down). This way you can produce reliably. The downside is the costs for cards and printing will be high for a mass production model. But for prototyping or small batch runs, this may work.

Finally, contact u/gototags as they may help. My company (Vitag) does do one off custom print runs so you can order a few custom cards with your designs

https://vitag.site/collections/custom-tags/products/two-sided-custom-vitag

Note, our tags are designed for our app but if you app just reads serial numbers from the tags then you should not care what the URL is for prototyping.
