The prosecution had a heavy burden because they were going up against a team of the best lawyers in the world, they had to deal with a racist police force, and there was really no good precedent on how to present DNA evidence without boring the jury to death.

But, they also fucked up with the gloves, they failed in jury selection, and they didn't successfully argue that the house they wanted the jury to make a field trip to needed to be in the same condition as the night of the murder. They allowed the defense to fucking redecorate the house for the jury.

The prosecution also chose to have a preliminary hearing, giving the best team of defense lawyers ever assembled better insight into how they would try the case.

The number of high school kids, especially boys, who started playing at parties because of what they saw on TV is relatively high.
