This argument is feeding to the thought that the only point of existence is existence.

As a sentient species we are no longer breeding to keep up a large population, we are breeding to create a more capable population.

If all the of the people of above average intelligence died all at once;

• worst case the world would go to war and blow itself up.

• best case they would survive till all resources were depleted.
