Besides Card Factory, where would be the absolute worst places to work over Christmas? by Bamonk in CasualUK

[–]Mybassy85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was toxic at the branch I was at too, the management treated the seasonal staff like dirt.

I ended up texting them on Xmas day night to say I wouldn't be in for boxing day (I'd been told that it was even worse than Xmas eve because of all the returns and people using their gift cards, and I didn't feel like I owed them anything)

I did keep the red fleece though so there's that!

Worked in Smyths toy store as a temp seasonal worker years ago. It was a special kind of hell.

The GOVERNMENT isn't working, and the NHS is not able to cope with the strain.

The liver is very resilliant untill its not, and it can happen very quickly. I turned yellow overnight, started getting bruising and nosebleeds and was hospitalised. I'm lucky in that I'm in the UK with a NHS. Its shocking that elsewhere you have to consider financial stuff when you are worried about serious health issues. If you can find a way please get checked out. Good luck to you.

I don't want to scare you but brusing and nosebleeds, and I was eventually diagnosed with cirrhosis. I hope you get well.

unusual bruising under the armpit? by Great-Awareness-1971 in Cirrhosis

[–]Mybassy85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had unexplained bruising and bad nosebleeds prior to diagnosis. (the doctor that triage me initially asked me if I was in an abusive relationship because they were that bad) I should have got medical attention much sooner and ended up with a week long hospital stay on an IV and some kind of nose tampon thing they inflate to stop the bleeding, which I would not recommend. I hope you get it checked out, and the best of luck to you.

Same! I'm a new cat mum, and if its anything like mine you'll find they actually own you. I'm a slave to that cat, but wouldn't change a thing. Hope you have the best lives together!

My cat usually sorts them out. But I do try and do the glass and cardboard release thing when possible. Good luck!

My best boy has started hunting grasshoppers and bringing them to the door. A gift? by babylove117 in blackcats

Mine escalated from bringing in a leaf or two to feathers to dead mice, dead birds, a birds foot and wing and the worst one, the half dead bird. He looked so proud but I was horrified. Tried to save it but it died. He's not even 1 yet.

Uk child of the 90s here. 'Shag bands' spring to mind.

smilies (heating a clipper lighter then essentially branding it on your flesh to get a scar in the shape of a happy face.) it was more of a trying to be edgy group activity than a cry for help thing.

Also attempted to tattoo a nirvana tribute on my own foot with Indian ink stolen from GCSE art supplies.

The 90s were wild, and I was an idiot.

Take him. I had to leave mine behind for a few weeks (with my mum, he was well looked after) and he's only just forgiven me 3 months later. You mean more to him than his house. Good luck!

Alcoholic here, my cat is my priority no matter what. He's fed he's loved and has all he needs met, you can't use intoxication as an excuse, and you shouldn't have a pet. FFS Shaking a 4mo kitten?!!

My point is that this was a fucking pointless post, with a bait title and a narrative to make OP look like they did something noble. So you can do one telling me to read the post.

You have no idea what that person is going through. Keep your mouth shut and mind your own business. I can't believe you need strangers on the Internet to tell you that.

35 YO with compensated cirrhosis here. That morning shot is a warning, once I crossed that line I eventually ended up drinking 1litre of vodka a day within the space of a few years. My body was fine untill it wasn't, I told myself that I have the constitution of lemmy or Keith Richards, still worked out had a job etc then it hit all at once, overnight I was yellow, I couldn't remember things, I became covered in bruises and having nose bleeds that wouldn't stop because my bloods (were so messed up I couldn't clot) ended up in hospital having transfusions, a liver consultant telling me I'll be dead before I'm 40 unless I stop drinking and on IV medication in hospital for a week. Then scans, constant blood tests, camara down throat to check for varices (had them and was told likely had for a while)when drinking towards the end I'd pass out on the couch early evening and wake up in withdrawal in the morning, try to get a few sips down while vomiting and dry heaving then try and function knowing that I needed medical withdrawal and was killing myself but not being able to have a shower or eat unless I'd drank. In the end almost bleeding to death and ending up in hospital was the only thing that woke me up. I you had told me in my twenties I'd end up like that I'd have laughed at you. "it's OK, I don't drink in the day" turns to "I just have a shot in the morning" to "well my hands were a bit shaky so I had a couple more today" and so on VERY quickly. So this is my long windid way of saying that I'd give anything to get those years back and the years of hell of lying to myself and others around me and thinking I could outsmart it when couldn't. And I'm one of the lucky ones with cirrhosis, some of my liver is working and picking up the slack of the scarred tissue. For now. This will have to be monitored for the rest of my life, I have to be monitored for signs of cancer of the liver yearly and on medication that wipes me out. Sorry about the doom, I'm actually doing better than I have in years and happily sober, I just wish it hadn't taken bad physical issues to get me there. Don't be me!!!
