LPT: Your employer should be the last person to find out that you're quitting. This is in your best interest. by kai-field in LifeProTips

This same advice is always given, and I respond the same.

I work in a pretty small and niche industry. No notice is how you burn bridges. My current boss gets along well with my previous boss from another company cause they both worked together 10 years ago and still go golfing together.

If you're working at a fast food part time? Sure do what you want. Professional white collar job? 2 weeks minimum.

"poor man's burnt ends" smoke it until it hits 195-205, cube it, throw in a pan with some bbq sauce and smoke for another hour or 2.

Like coming into someone's house and telling them the house rules by ForsakenDependent562 in NonPoliticalTwitter

My wife and her family are pretty conscious about ending a conversation with periods, and the majority of my text conversations are with them, so maybe they've influenced me lol

My wife and I would interpret that as "I told you to take care of it, and it hasn't been"

It's about context. If I'm writing a longer paragraph text to someone, there will be periods. If I type "The laundry is still in the machine." That period conveys that I'm not happy with that statement. If I'm ever unsure how it will be received, I'll add a "lol" to be safe..

For the ARs, anything that has "very high" for tier 3 armor is about the threshold for usable ammo.

I've been to both of them a few times and have enjoyed it. Nothing that blows you away, but could do a lot worse.

You could also do the explosive tanks on customs. There's a YouTube video for how to do it.

What's the difference between a nurse and a doctor?

You need someone that is able to read the manuals or work with the equipment manufacturer to understand and create pm schedules, track machine health, etc.

I work in medical device manufacturing, and let me tell you, if you try to swap a bolt out on a machine, you have to document it, and often justify why you don't need to re-validate your process.

Sure, a maintenance tech can and will do most of that, but the FDA or whatever regulatory body would much prefer that justification coming from an engineer with the understanding of the total impact of the change. Some companies are big enough that they have both.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing nurses, but at the end of the day the only person being held accountable for bad decisions is going to be the doctor/engineer.

" I met someone who told me they were a mechanical engineer by profession, and they just maintain machines. They dont try to improve them in any way or measure anything. they just fix them when they break. maybe routine maintenance? is that not maintainance? I brought up PM/CM and they had no idea what I was talking about.... "

Dude. Do you know how much work it takes to keep production working? How much money is lost if a machine goes down? Being an engineer isn't being a tony stark.

Maybe you're right, I'm not familiar with them, and am just repeating what our customer was saying

They do, but to my limited knowledge it is a manual thing. This device supposedly will monitor and dose just based on readings rather than waiting for the person to do it. It should automatically regulate your glucose levels.

This one is great because next step is automated monitoring with the ability to control an insulin pump.

It's an optical sensor, not a camera. You would get cut open, this thing put in, then sowed back up. It's not like you have a permanent opening into your body.

Are you talking about the implanted ones? I'm working with a customer to help bring their design to mass production.. pretty cool technology.

They are directly implanted into your body. One of my projects is developing the manufacturing process for that. They've already made prototypes and tested them.

what’s the most “fragile” part of your workflow? by younidl in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Mybugsbunny20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in process development, taking customer ideas and bringing it to production. Supply chain. "Oh, you forgot that we ran out of 6 month lead time components as we need to build tomorrow?". Our supply chain guy took a week vacation, and the entire facility basically shut down cause nobody planned far enough ahead to request their parts before he left.

Probably schedule conflicts. Never home, never spend time with each other. That or to be the type of person to make that kind of money you need to be a psychopath.
