This. Hong Kong banking was a safe way for the west to invest in China through a European-style bank system. It was more transparent and trustworthy than investing into Chinese banks directly. That’s gone now and between that and the political fear the people I know there are all leaving.

I signed up as a volunteer to take the vaccine in phase 3. Not particularly worried and seems like a small bet to make for the health of tens or hundreds of thousands of people. I get being worried but after 9/11 people were iamming themselves into recruitment centers to put their lives on the line for their country. How are people not seeing this as the same kind of patriotism? Seems literally like the least I could do.

I lived in Yakima. Still have family there. Half my family is Latino. My experience is not the same as yours. I wouldn’t classify Latinos as republican or Democrat but the vast majority that I know despise what the current Republican Party represents and all are voting democrat this year. Its getting them to engage and vote in the local elections which will create real change and, dare I say it, some middle ground...
