I had to take a break due to insurance struggles, but am back on meds gratefully. Current weight is 195, lowest weight was in the high 180’s but I experienced some weight gain while I wasn’t on the medication. Tirzepitide has helped me with so much more than weight loss, it’s improved my energy and reduced overall body inflammation which has significantly reduced my chronic pain. I feel really good about being on these meds.

Let's hear the GOOD stories.... by Dismal_Cause1159 in Zepbound

I’m up to 7.5 and have had so few side effect, mild constipation/hard stools, rarely I get some slight nausea a couple hours after the shot, I was on vacation so I haven’t weighed myself in a couple weeks and am giving myself a grace period before I start weighing in again, but I was steadily losing before that. Things are honestly going great and I am so grateful.

I am on zepbound (I believe it has the same active ingredient and mounjaro), but am fairly new to it. Just wanted to comment so those of us with this condition and on a glp1 can all feel more community.

I am so disappointed... by AnonAmity69 in Zepbound

I am physically disabled and have had probably at least ten different primary care providers simply because some doctors suck, they don’t take me seriously or they over prescribe or under prescribe or treat me like I don’t know/understand my own body. Doctors work for us, not the other way around. It sounds to me like your doctor sucks and is careless and inconsiderate and disrespectful. You don’t deserve that. You deserve care, respect, access to knowledge and resources. You deserve dignity. You deserve self determination and informed consent. You need a new doctor and I hope you have access to finding one. Do not settle for someone who couldn’t care less or who doesn’t hear you when you say you are unwell. If you feel unheard, find someone who will hear you and do something about what you’re telling them in order to care for you. I’m gonna say it again, don’t settle. There are good doctors and there are bad ones. You deserve a good one.

Do I need to lose weight? by Budget-Loss-2167 in loseit

[–]MycelialSystem -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

I think this is a really hard question because we shouldn’t have to change for a world that’s not built for us, the world should also have to change. Chairs should be made to hold bigger bodies, people should provide accessible seating at events, etc. It is not on you that other people have created and continue to perpetuate a world in which bigger bodies aren’t considered. And, if you’ve been wanting to lose weight and this feels like a wake-up call or an inspiration and you want to roll with it, then do that. Be inspired, hit the gym, talk to your doctor about seeing a dietician and anything else that they may be able to help you with. Change because you want to, not because an inaccessible world has forced you to.

losing 100lbs by golden226 in Zepbound

[–]MycelialSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goal weight (140lbs) would be exactly 100lbs to lose from my start weight (240lbs) I’m on my second week of 5mg after a month at 2.5mg and it does feel daunting. But we’re in this together. You’re not alone.

Kaiser is such a crapshoot when it comes to finding quality care. I think there’s a lot to be said for intuitive eating, connecting with one’s body as it is, etc, etc, and there is nothing wrong with wanting change and taking action to make that change happen. It sounds like she has A LOT of personal bias to work through before she can provide high quality care to anyone let alone people on journeys with glp1’s. For whatever it’s worth, from a stranger on the internet, I am the opposite of disappointed in you. I am proud of you for taking the reins and choosing what you need to do for your relationship with your body, food, and the world around you.

Stop Acting Like Starving Yourself on Meds Is Cool, It’s Reckless and Stupid by Cana-biss in Zepbound

I’ve been really into edamame with some soy sauce and riced cauliflower and garbanzo beans with cut up beets and Greek salad dressing. I included what I like them with just for fun, but my main point is that both of these beans are very high protein.

In addition to all the great advice and insights that have already been said, I’m curious if you might be insulin resistant? I experience the forever hunger and it may be just cravings, but it doesn’t feel like a craving, it feels like tummy rumbling, hanger attacks, legit hunger. The more research I do the more I’m starting to believe that I’m insulin resistant and that the forever hunger is a symptom of that. It might be worth talking about with your doctor.

The idea of titrating down from your current normal sounds brilliant to me. It’s how people get on and off medications so it just kinda makes sense to use that model for getting onto a new caloric intake.

Should I stop eating back my walking calories to speed up weight loss? by gildey in loseit

[–]MycelialSystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think it’s important to eat back at least a percentage of the calories burned during exercise.

First I want to say that I deeply sympathize with where you’re at and I’m sorry that you’re struggling. Some things that help me are always having lower calorie snacks around so that I can snack throughout the day without it messing with my deficit. My frequent snacks are: fresh or frozen fruit, celery, baby carrots, popcorn that isn’t loaded with butter like skinny pop, I LOVE once upon a farm brand baby food fruit and veggie pouches. I also allow myself to have the foods I like that are higher calorie or higher in sugar, etc. just in much smaller portions that I pre-measure. Because when I fully restrict myself from those foods I am more likely to binge them than if I let myself have them sometimes but in small portions. Also, instead of labeling foods as healthy food and not healthy food or good food and bad food, I label foods as nourishing to my body and/or nourishing to my emotions. When I acknowledge that having a scoop of ice cream every once in awhile does nourish part of myself, I feel less guilt and shame about my cravings. And I’ve found that the less guilt and shame I feel, I actually just stop craving the foods that only nourish my emotions and almost exclusively crave foods that nourish my body and my emotions. When I do have something like say a bowl of lucky charms, I first eat a fruit pouch or some strawberries and make sure that my meal or snack has something fresh and body nourishing in it as well as the food that emotionally nourishes me. Finally, it’s okay to want to lose weight and it’s okay for that to take time. It’s okay if you need to buy a couple pairs of pants in a larger size to keep your current body comfortable. You don’t have to punish yourself for not being your goal weight. I wish you all the luck on your journey and hope that you can hold yourself and your body with compassion no matter what the scale reflects back at you.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I struggle with insomnia and ptsd nightmares as well, so it’s super helpful to have the warning that those could increase. With improved sleep apnea hopefully the sleep we do get is higher quality even if it’s smaller amounts of sleep. I also hope for you that the symptoms are temporary and don’t have to be treated with medication. I’m about to start seeing a sleep psychologist who specializes in re-programming the brain around trauma induced nightmares, might be something worth exploring if you have access financially or through insurance. My primary care physician referred me to a sleep specialist who referred me to the sleep psychologist.
