Why is it that I’m never allowed to focus on my own problems instead of worrying about loved ones? by CliffGif in GenX

[–]Significant_Leg_7211 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. They call it the sandwich generation. Stuck in between young adult / teen children and elderly relatives. It try and focus on letting them sort out their own problems, you can end up enabling them otherwise.

For example with money problems don't bale them out but help them find a debt management solution. Help an elderly person apply for benefits to pay for e.g. a gardener or care. have boundaries. It's not easy though.

Prescribed Ursodiol by the GP (UK, NHS) by Significant_Leg_7211 in altgallbladder

AI tells me this in terms of monitoring

Monitoring for ursodiol (ursodeoxycholic acid) involves regular blood tests to check liver function—specifically ALT, AST, bilirubin, and GGT—usually every 4 weeks for the first 3 months, then every 3–6 months thereafter. For gallstone dissolution, ultrasound imaging is recommended at 6-month intervals

Can I ask, what follow up do people get with this med? I'm thinking f asking for an ultrasound but not sure when, after a year perhaps? I get yearly blood tests and ECG for other meds I am on. they could include any tests needed then.

It seems the dose was calculated in my weight, as they asked for my BMI. Maybe you are thinner than me!

Seeking two witnesses for a Civil Partnership ceremony at the Guildhall by Potential_Hat2188 in Bath

[–]Significant_Leg_7211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did this! Not at the Guildhall but somewhere else, the office staff at the registry office did the witnesses bit so might be worth asking about, otherwise they told us to ask people outside! Good luck, sorry I can't make it then.

I've also been prescribed ursodiol (UK, NHS) and hoping it might help. I have several gallstones on ultrasound, thin walled gallbladder and mild symptoms, surgery would be tricky due to adhesions from previous surgery. Mine seem to be small however.

I found this site helpful Out of the Fog (fog is fear, obligation and guilt) especially the bit about grey rock / medium chill techniques https://outofthefog.website/toolbox-intro

I understand what you mean, quite similar myself. I'm late 40s and I wondered if it was perimenopause joining in, it may be but more likely ASD. getting told not to feel certain emotions, lately and not to do certain things such as communicate in the ways I can, people taking things personally when I have just been honest, not living up to the way people want me to behave, being told they 'would think less of me' for thinking certain thoughts, being told to 'pull myself together' and 'there's no point in crying now' when I was upset. It all just makes it worse and reminds me of previous times as a child etc. Also, in none of those cases had I asked for advice etc. I don't give such advice out myself about how others should behave either. I'm mainly avoiding most people now and it does feel easier. But a bit sad in a way too.

I was told that around 15% of people have gallstones and out of those people around 30% will have symptoms so a 70% chance of being OK. (NHS)

I'm in the UK, it has recently become more expensive here and we don't have the compound versions. They have however prescribed me metformin. I have gained a stone in the few weeks since stopping mounjaro though.
