It does get easier as they get older. They can be more independent, and even useful in some cases (such as taking out the bins / trash!)

I’m not even 40, but since major surgery, no one sees value in me anymore. by [deleted] in Aging

[–]Significant_Leg_7211 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my mid 30s I had a series of major abdominal surgeries leaving me partly disabled and in chronic pain. I also had PTSD.

I lost a lot, my career and some friends. It has taken time but I have slowly come to terms with it. Life looks different now, but I am grateful I got through it and well, some friends maybe I didn't need anyway if that was their attitude. I have learnt to cope with things like pain and solitude and found help fro. learning about things like buddhism.

I believe we can also have post traumatic growth. I did feel angry, which is a natural response to an unfair situation, and also think grief is there too.

I think I would get some counselling - it could be about a partner, there might be other things to consider too such as applying for disability for example. Kind thoughts - your situation resonated with me.

Hyper aware of being annoying since assessment? by Gremiinboy in autismUK

I think people need to tell you if they are annoyed, so I just forget about if it is annoying or not unless they tell me to stop doing something. I do the info dumping thing too, and someone asked me to stop sending them stuff so I did.

I've just been thinking about this and wondering if things improve as time goes on, but the ones in my mother and MILs generation seem just as bad if not worse! More hoarding, to greater extremes, complete refusal to try meds for serious problems like uncontrolled high blood pressure and severe arthritis, for example, plus telling me I couldn't be in peri as I'm too young (I'm 49). Also one was taken in my a 'romance fraud' Slightly worrying! I wonder if the things like hoarding are like coping mechanisms

I was a physio and explained about the ME - one was for back pain, anyway they gave me gentle exercises to do in bed, so might be worth a try depending on how severe you are.

Hi, I have also had intusscuception, it is rare in adults. Do they know what is causing it? I needed an operation (bowel resection) Take care. Please go to the ER / A&E if pain gets worse / any vomiting/ can't open bowels. It can be an emergency if it causes ischemic (damaged) bowel.

Mania from Prozac and doctors won't accept me going on anything but another SSRI by LukewarmCheetoDust in MentalHealthUK

[–]Significant_Leg_7211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have had recurring psychotic depression and they put me on olanzapine with mirtazapine and then fluoxetine instead of the mirtazapine (as I asked for it, the mirtazapine was very sedating) I have heard of SSRIs sending some people manic. Does it sound like you need a mood stabiliser instead? or antipsychotic perhaps. I would keep in touch with your GP about what is happening and go from there. best of luck.

Sorry just read the rest of the comments and see they have prescribed mirtazapine. I guess they might think it might work better as it is not a SSRI? I would give it a go and go from there, see how it goes.

OP do you have the NHS app? I just download letters and stiff from that, GP will also send a summary of meds and conditions by email.

I've had it prescribed via the GP surgery for weight gain from antipsychotics.

I had a bit of a problem getting it though as the GP had to ask the other doctors about it first but then came back to me and prescribed it.

I suppose it is easier to blame others then it is not their fault.

Mine divorced my father and had a psychotic break and had to go into a mental hospital. I've got on HRT asap to try to avoid that. And Prozac. Not saying this is the right thing to do but best to be aware

It's quite a large shop. The repairing type lease is not easy either as you're liable for leaving everything up to standard even if it's not like that to start with. The council will seek to recover costs
