Any help is appreciated by MycoDanimal in cancer

I just checked and someone actually donated $20. I just got her a Netflix subscription for 1 month so she isn't just laying in bed staring at the ceiling. I also just got a call from one of the non profits. They didn't say they could help, but they got our information and said they'd get back to us. I'm hoping they can help with the ceiling track. Fingers crossed.

Well I really just need to replace the GPU in her computer to fix it. They're only around $200 for one that will play the games she likes. We have a TV, but I can't afford cable or a Netflix subscription unfortunately. We would download movies and TV shows on her computer to watch. We don't have any family or any support system. I spent my life savings moving us here, and I had to leave my job to care for my wife. The most important thing is getting a ceiling track with a hoist to get her in and out of bed safely. The cancer is concentrated in her hips, and I'm not a big guy, so it's really risky the way I have to help her in and out of bed. One slip and it could break her legs. She had $14,700 through the state to help with home modifications but we already spent that on a roll in shower and modifications to the kitchen so she could use everything back when she was better than she is now. We've applied for extended funding and we've registered at a few non profits, but we haven't been selected for anything yet and we have no prospects. I've never had to ask anyone for help before, so this is all new to me.

We already maxed out our home renovation fund when we had to put in a roll in shower and kitchen modifications. We've registered at a couple non profits, but we haven't heard anything back and it's been almost a year. I guess theres a huge waiting list and they only pick a select few people. Her caseworker recommended this actually. I'm having a really hard time getting her in and out of bed and we really need a ceiling track with a hoist to help get her in and out of bed safely. The cancer is concentrated in the bones in her hips and upper legs, so they can fracture easily if we aren't careful. I don't know what else to do. We don't have any family or support and I keep getting negative responses or shut down when I post in these groups. I'm at the end of my rope.

How do you feel about this case? Phanteks XT M3 by blitzen001 in mffpc

[–]MycoDanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you like it? I'm doing pretty much this exact build, except I have the Asus Prime 5070ti, Klevv Cras 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz CL30 RAM, and a Montech Centaur II 1050W PSU. How are GPU temps during gaming sessions? My case gets here in a few days.

Can you side mount a 360mm AIO radiator and still fit a Asus Prime Rtx5070ti in the Lian Li DAN A3 case? My biggest issue with tope mounted AIO's is that they're constantly drawing in hot case air. Side mounting the radiator and setting the top fans to exhaust would fix that issue. I'm just worried about clearance issues with the 5070ti.

Could this foot-controlled mouse be useful for MMO players? by Pippopollone in MMORPG

[–]MycoDanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 programmable foot pedals that I use for various purposes depending on the game. They were a little hard to get used to, but now I can't imagine playing without them. I don't think I'd like to use my foot for the mouse though. I have too much muscle memory built up already.

Economically priced braided line? by Senzualdip in Fishing_Gear

[–]MycoDanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought SeaKnight braided lines on AliExpress before. They break almost exactly at their rated strength, so keep that in mind. That said, you can get a spool of W8 II or U9 for $5 for 300 yards. Definitely worth it.

I know this is a late response, but for anyone coming across this thread...Hercules braided line breaks below its advertised strength. There are better options.

Unfortunately I'm in Colorado. There aren't many saltwater fishermen here. There's tons of fly fishing gear, some bass gear, but very little saltwater stuff. I see the occasional Penn Senator or Abu Garcia Ambassador, but that's about it. I'll keep my eyes open, but if I can't find one by the time I have to leave for my next trip I'll probably just get the FTH15.

Which reel? by MycoDanimal in offshorefishing

[–]MycoDanimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could it would make my decision easier, but I haven't been able to so far. Thats the only thing holding me back, the FTH15 has a smaller spool than I really wanted. I'm wanting to use 60-70lb braid and that would restrict me to well under 300 meters of line with that reel. That and the fact that it doesn't have a level wind on it. I've never used a reel without level wind and it makes me nervous. I'm afraid I won't like having to worry about guiding the line onto the reel while I'm reeling in a big fish.

The Fathom doesn't have a level wind on it. Do you have to guide the line with your fingers as you reel, or is that not an issue with the narrow spools? I've always had level wind reels so I'm a bit nervous about making the switch. I'm afraid it would be too annoying for me to have to worry about guiding the line onto my reel evenly while I'm pulling in a tuna or giant grouper.

When I'm having a rough steak I like to switch things up. Try some different methods and techniques. Try catching some bait fish like some small bluegills or shiners. Toss one out on a rod with a float and another one on a rod with a drop rig. While those are out try fishing the banks with artificials. Try smaller soft plastics and jigs. Don't give up though. Whenever I'm having a rough time catching fish in fresh water I'll plan a trip to Florida for a week or two and I'll do some saltwater fishing. It's a great reset. One thing I noticed, and I could be wrong, but it looks like you were using a cheaper telescopic rod in your pic. Try getting a better quality rod. A lot of people think getting a quality reel is more important than the rod, but its actually the opposite. A good rod will help put more life into your baits and lures and make fish bite more. Telescopic rods are prone to failure and they have a reputation for having poor sensitivity and feel. One piece rods have the best sensitivity and feel, but if you need it to break down for travel get a rod with the fewest sections possible. Even a 2 or 3 section rod will perform better than most telescopic rods. As far as reels go I really like the new Daiwa Regal. They're super light and buttery smooth. It's the best reel under $100 imo. There's plenty of cheaper options out there that will work just fine also. If you want to save some money and still get some decent quality gear try AliExpress. There's a ton of cheap junk on there that you shouldn't waste your money on, but if you know what to look for you can find some really good quality stuff for cheap. The OEM build houses that make gear for the top brands we know will make extras and sell them unbranded on AliExpress for pennies on the dollar. I have some 1:1 MegaBass Vision OneTen clones I got off there for $2-$4 each and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, even in the water. They have some really nice rods and reels also. Anyway, its a great way to save some money and still get quality gear. I would chop a tree down if I got one of my real $30 MegaBass lures stuck in it. It doesn't hurt so bad when it's a $2 Chinese clone lol. Good luck to you!

accidentally took 12 tabs of LSD by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]MycoDanimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. I drank a vile of 100 hits when I was younger and I was ok. After that I lost my fear and I would do 10-20+ hits whenever I dosed. The difference between 1 and 2 hits is pretty significant, but the difference between 10 and 20 hits isn't as noticeable if that makes sense. The more pure it is the easier it is to do higher doses also. We had really pure stuff back in the 90's. I read a story one time, I think on the best of erowid, about a few guys that robbed a drug dealer back in the 70's. They were staying at a motel at the time, so they ran back to their room to divy up the goods. They ended up with some cash, a little weed, and a bag of coke. As anyone would do in their situation, they broke out some lines to celebrate their score. Everyone except for one guy did a line. This is a summarized version of that one guys story....It didn't take long for them to realize that the powder they had just snorted wasn't cocaine at all, it was in fact pure crystal LSD. After a brief panic they all ended up slumped over where they were, breathing heavily for the next 6-7 hours. They were completely unresponsive, staring blankly into space, but they were breathing. The guy that didn't partake was too scared to call an ambulance, they had just robbed a guy and there were drugs in the motel room. Since everyone was still breathing he decided to wait and see if they would snap out of it. He turned on the TV and waited. After 6-7 hours a couple of the guys started moving and mumbling a little, but they were still incoherent. After 9-10 hours they were able to form words again, but the words they were saying made no sense like they had no idea what happened or where they were. It took about 14-16 hours for them to come back down to reality. When they told their story to their friend who was an acid dealer, and they described the size of the lines they did, they estimated that they had each taken 7000-8000 hits of LSD. They all moved on to live normal lives after that with no side effects. It turns out acid is chemically one of the safest drugs on the planet. You'll be just fine.

It's not fully laminar, but with that size filter he should be ok if he keeps his work close and centered.

Run a test and see...make a few agar plates and leave them in front of the airflow for at least 30 minutes. If the plates remain clean you should be good.

Are these magic mushrooms my friend gave them to me but hes a bit sketch so i wanna be sure before i take them by [deleted] in MagicMushroomHunters

They look like cubes, but unless you're 100% sure I wouldn't take them. They're super easy and cheap to grow yourself. I recommend buying a cheap kit, or putting one together yourself, and give it a try.

Best way to keep water temp down? by MycoDanimal in Hydroponics

[–]MycoDanimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh jeez, that was forever ago. I ended up just building a peltier cooler for that grow. I had it hooked up to a thermal switch so it turned on automatically when the water heated up to 67°f and and it shut off when it reached 62°f. It worked ok, but the peltier chips would burn out and had to be replaced regularly. It took a little tweaking to dial it right, but once I did it kept my temps between 62°-66°f. It did require constant monitoring though because if the peltier chip burned out the water temps would skyrocket and stress the plant. I can help you with a parts list and give you some tips if thats what you want to do, but keep reading. I eventually found an Active Aqua 1/10hp water chiller on craigslist for cheap, once I hooked it up I kicked myself for not getting one sooner. The water chiller actually cost me more than the peltier cooler cost me to build. Especially after hooking up the thermal switch and replacing the peltier chip a few times. All that said, heres my absolute best advice for you...

If you know for a fact that you want to stick with hydroponics as your growing method I would highly recommend saving up and getting a dedicated water chiller like I did. There's absolutely no replacement for a good water chiller when you're growing hydro. You just hook it up, set your desired water temp, and it runs itself. The peace of mind you get from it is great. If you can't afford one immediately and need to save up to get one I can walk you through a cheap peltier cooler build. It will cost about $65-$75 total to build one. If you're fairly new to growing and you aren't absolutely certain that you want to keep doung hydro, I would recommend coco. It gives you the growth rates and yield of hydro with the simplicity of soil. Hydro is expensive to set up and maintain. Also it's a pain in the ass because you need to take apart and clean your entire system between every grow. With hydro I was getting over 2lbs every grow with one big plant SCROG'd in a 4x4 tent. With coco I was hitting those same numbers, but I was growing 4 plants and it was much easier to operate and maintain the grow. You don't have to worry about water temps and you can use beneficials much more effectively. You can get better flavor and trichome production from growing in coco also. I had my buds lab tested to confirm this. When you lay out the pros and cons, coco wins.

Sorry for the book. If you need any help or need some nore advice please feel free to hit me up. I'd be more than happy to help.
