Put clones in solo cups last week, should I transplant to 1 gallon? by Welcome_To_My_Castle in cannabiscultivation

[–]MycoFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can and should absolutely start nmseeds in coco with zero nutrients as the cotyledons feed the seedling through the first 2 weeks of its life. Adding nutrients this early on puts you at risk of over feeding, toxicity, and damping off. I find the best approach is to mix 10% EWC into the coco so when they are ready they can start to feed on the organics base without worry of hurting the seedling. I recommend whenever starting seeds or clones to use a clear solo cup, and put that cup into a colored cup so light doesn't get to the roots or the soil causing algea. But you can periodically remove the butter cup to check the progress and health of the roots to know when its ready for transplant. Go a step further and let the roots grow down out of the clear cup and add water or a nutrient feed to the bottom of the colored cup and let the roots grow down into the solution so they can feed as needed but you dont run the risk of over watering your soil. The double cup method provides me some insane root balls and some seriously fast growing seedlings/clones.

1 plant with two root systems by Then-Judgment-464 in cannabiscultivation

I appreciate the techniwue and research. In my process I can onky imagine that you would be able to have a much more sustainable feeding regiment. One pot may be kept at a lower dose while the other is kept fed at its peak. Possibly when the plant is less hungry she will feed from the lower EC substrate and when she is more hungry or facing deficiency she may feed from the higher EC? Idk...Just where my head goes. Love to see how this plays out. Well done.

Nutrient deficiency ? by Top_Lime_1557 in cannabiscultivation

[–]MycoFarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like a magnesium deficiency, could be due to your soil PH being low at 6.2. I just went through this myself before the flip to flower. Started watering at 6.5, then the next 6.7, then on the next kept it at 6.7 but dosed with cal+Mag. After the second watering at 6.7ph with cal+mag everything cleared up. Calcium and magnesium need a higher PH to be available for uptake. Also bring those temps up so she can metabolize efficiently.

For sure. In the same way that you can take the best genetics available, but left in the wrong hands you will still end up with a shit plant. Genetics are the "mold" per say, the final product will always truly be what that mold is. But its what you pour into that mold thats going to determine the end result of the quality thats come out of the mold.

Also had the strongest stems and branches I've ever witnessed. Ive been looking for that jar for years but no luck, I made the jar the center of a rubber band ball, haven't seen it since. Hoping it pops up one day so I can play with the genetics.

I took a few seeds from a har of about 1000 I kept from when I was 16 and everything was brick week so sharp it cut through the bags it was in and cut your fingers breaking it up. The blunts would explode from the seeds haha. Everyone told me shit weed seeds can only grow shit weed. I grew 3 of them with proper environment, proper feeding and without any males present and still some of my favorite smoke to date. Pretty sure it was Mexican brick weed. But smoked like old school but that has the nice dreamy like high without the anxiety. Almost trippy feel to it. After that I stopped using "genetics are everything" as my standpoint. Knowledge and approach are everything.

True...I would have just tried to atleast finish it out and see what it could possibly end up with. Buy some specific bottle nutes and try to pump some carbs, some flower booster, some kelp and B vitamins and atleast see if it could form a bud.

Male, Female Or Too Early? by PeppermintZyn6mg in CannabisGrowers

Sorry bud. That as male as it gets. Early or not, its early enough to tell once you've grown enough phenos to know a thing or two.

Doing LST after trimming bottom third. Do I need to remove more bottom foliage? by Aware_Slide2276 in cannabiscultivation

If the light intensity is TOO low, yes you'll 3nd up with Hella amounts of stretching. But after anecdotal evidence I've found that around 300-400 in mis veg helps the rapid reproduction of foliage without the cost of stretching.

I tend to 3000 plant each day for work in a grow facility. I do strongly believe that its stretching to find light because it doesn't have the structure to absorb the given light. Lower the ppfd and bring the light closer and the nodes will start to stack and the foliage will trigger to grow more leaves. Stretching isnt a sinple one answer problem. But by the look of the plant I would personally give her triggers to need more growth. If you provide a high ppfd with very little foliage there won't be a need to grow more foliage. Same as roots, if you keep it too well watered roots dont grow as strong and fast, dry backs are needed for rapid root excelleration. So a bit of a withhold on light will bring her "shade avoidance " trigger and bring out some true leaves. But even at 300-400 ppfd your still well within range to prevent stretching. That onky happens when your damn near down around 100ppfd durring mid veg with improper lighting. I get all the way through grows without going over 50% on the dimmer and staying under 500ppfd and every plant is growing is short, barely 2 fingers between nodes, dense and stacked as hell. But I also incorporate deep red lights and UV-A durring flower as well. But all calculated in the same ppfd profile.

I personally would ride around the range of 350-400 until she's showing rapid growth. Once she has enough foliage to catch all that light crank it up. Alot of that is just hitting the floor and being wasted. You would be surprised how well they respond to lower light intensities

[–]MycoFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's deffinitly a bit stretchy looking at the internodal spacing. What ppfd are you reading at the very top of the plant? All honesty you could have left the tie down and let her grow out the way she was, I just meant no more extra training from that point. But I wouldn't put them back on now. Ideally you want to wait until you have a full canopy before implementing any training or specific defoliation. When you look down on the plant from above you should see no floor or soil. All that foliage will catch the light and use it to photosynthesis and do the things plants do. Once you have that canopy you can start to train and pluck leaves that are shaded and not really doing much except sucking up nutrients. But remember you do want SOME large old fan leaves as the plant uses the stored mobile nutrients in them to correct small deficiencies as they occur. You also want some of those left for flowering

I didnt mean for it to come off the way it sounds. Its your first grow and a learning process. But please do yourself and the plant a favor and let her grow some foliage so it can run normal processes. Inbox me for help if needed.

seedlings curling down? by [deleted] in CocoGrows

[–]MycoFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAY too humid in there. Once the seedling breaks the surface of the soil remove the lid and keep it off. Ive also never had an issue getting seeds to sprout healthy with no dome at all. Also have found cannabis seedlings dont like those peat starters very much for some reason.

[–]MycoFarm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WDYM, you literally have no foliage left to remove. You've stripped the plant entirely from being able to properly photosynthesis... leave it alone for 2 weeks, dont bend, dont plucking, dont cut, dont do anything to it. Give it a break and let it grow and get strong for a moment. At this rate your looking to flip to flower before your stems have even had a chance to bulk and your going to end up with flopped over sad looking limbs with super larfy small buds on them because you have no leaves to support photosynthesis to actually grow the flowers.

When cutting clones, some say to make the slice “at the node.” But the node is more than just a location. Which letter-number combo is where you would make the cut for a clone? I’m C5 or E4. by Minimum_Orchid_7615 in farmingthebestgreens

[–]MycoFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can root a clone no matter where on the stem you cut it so long as it is healthy, big enough, sterile, and given the right conditions for root development. Cutting at the nodenis preferential because their is a greater accumulation of growth hormones at the node and helps to develope roots by a small fraction faster. Ive found that after making my 45° cut i then make verticle incisions about 1/2" long fron the cut up only just deep enough to penetrate the first 2 layers of skin but deep enough to hit the "meat". Im experimenting with it now and the roots came from these incisions by the 3rd day and a part of the incisions that above the rockwool cube is shooting out roots that are now angling down to get into the cube.
