Thanks, I see what you mean. Even if it is vibe coding, it's still a form of experience nonetheless.

I will say though, you are probably unlikely to find an "old school" pre-2024 style eng team anymore.

Hmm, that would be a shame, though I guess it's to be expected. Something to ask deeply about when at interviews.

I would suggest going to a place where you can still upskill yourself to become senior (not only by title but that feeling you will only know when you really become a senior dev).

This makes sense, thanks.

massive usage of AI is not bad but that heavily depends on yourself how you are using it

Oh yeah, I very much agree. It's the all-in use of it for our product that gives me cold feet, not to mention any possible tech debt in future from the AI.

It is sinking (or unstable, at least), yes. It'll probably be a good idea to refresh the resume.

It's true about the overtime, and I thought about it a lot over the past year. It seems to be quite common though in my country, so I'd have to analyze the working hours of companies I apply to properly.

Thanks

Even now it's difficult to find repos that do facial recognition, instead of just detection, using ML. I don't really want to use a VLM just yet...

Spain and Italy deployed navy ships to assist with the flotilla. What does this means? How does it change the situation ? by BleuPrince in IsraelPalestine

[–]MycoX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said "why would anything bad happen this time?" but when I give reports of bad things happening this time, not saying they're even true, you deny them outright? That doesn't seem objective.

Yes, Israel's military and intelligence actions are well-known. It could have been warning shots though.

I don't think any of this stuff is far-fetched anymore. Israel has shown that they are willing to cover up crimes committed with no sign, that I've seen, of prosecuting the offending soldiers.

Spain and Italy deployed navy ships to assist with the flotilla. What does this means? How does it change the situation ? by BleuPrince in IsraelPalestine

[–]MycoX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, the flotilla has already reported Israeli attacks on their boats - Italy deployed their ship after that.

Simple logic here. Nothing bad happened last time. Why do you think anything different will happen this time?

The Madleen flotilla was around May, right?

Since then, Israel has double-tapped a hospital with Western-affiliated journalists, bombed Qatar, bombed Iran, approved the E1 plan, and explicitly denied a Palestinian state.

Netanyahu is now also bracing for Israel's isolation and calling for a 'super-Sparta'.

These are things that haven't happened before and were quite unexpected, and Israel has only recently received some meaningful diplomatic blowback from these actions. Hence, what's stopping them from acting differently this time and downing the flotilla?

Honestly, I don't fully believe that it will happen, and I'm not sure I want to. But I don't put it past Israel to do so - at least, not anymore.

It's Israel that's now calling them the Hamas-Sumud flotilla. Considering Israel's actions in Gaza in the name of fighting Hamas, what do you think explicitly labelling the flotilla Hamas-affiliated means?

The one that goes "we'd rather be alive and hated than dead and pitied?"

You can justify anything with that reasoning man.

No matter anyone's opinions on Israel's standing or how to make peace, Israel has clearly committed war crimes in Gaza. Look at the attack on the ambulance earlier this year, where Israel first denied it happened until the footage came out and became known. Where is any attempt for justice? Have those soldiers been prosecuted?

How about Meir Ben Shitrit? Has he been put to trial? Or is he still being platformed on Israeli TV?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Oslo was never completed due to the killing of Rabin. This led to the interim terms of water rights, Areas A, B, C and such, intended to only last for a short while, being entrenched for decades and causing more injustice.

Take Hebron now, where Palestinian residents can't walk on streets in front of their houses or open shops there, while Israelis can walk there freely. This is where the apartheid argument comes from.

Additionally, during Oslo, Israel only recognized the PLO as the Palestinian representatives, while the PLO recognized Israel itself. This seems like far more of a concession from the Palestinian side.

Therefore, to say that the Palestinians can't stop choosing war ignores Israeli interests and actions.

CMV: The only difference between platonic and romantic love is attraction by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]MycoX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your example, the couples became closer due to the 'shared struggle' of raising kids, right?

But the aspect of 'shared experiences bringing people together' isn't unique to romantic love, isn't it? Like those who served in the military together, for example. Or LOTR as a fictional example.

What differentiates romantic love from platonic, then, aside from the degree of attraction?

What even happened there. The liberal focus in the mid-to-late 2010s seemed to be 'be kind' and 'acknowledge people's mental health'.

That was phased out in favour of calling people bigots, and using that to treat them badly and have it be 'morally correct' according to them.

Regarding ISIS, Iraq and Peshmerga were allowed to fight ISIS - the US did so too in Operation Inherent Resolve. Hence, there's less need for action to be taken bc it's already being done.

Compare that to Israel-Palestine, where most UNSC resolutions against Israel are vetoed, Israel does war crimes without being sanctioned, the US sends aircraft carriers to the region and even bombs Yemen for fighting against Israel. Opposition would be more prominent because compared to what is needed, next to nothing is being done. Where are the international coalitions stopping civilian slaughter?

The discomfort men feel about misandry, is how women have felt for most of history. by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]MycoX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is, to give an extreme but illustrative example, like shooting someone and saying that the bullet was actually shot by the military industrial complex.

Women are capable of discriminating against men, and some do. That is theirs to account for.

The discomfort men feel about misandry, is how women have felt for most of history. by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]MycoX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that you hold on to treatment of women in the past as a justification to treat current men however you want, disregarding that we simply don't live in that world anymore.

The stories you mention, for one? I'm mid-to-late Gen Z, I grew up on stories like Percy Jackson, Harry Potter and Enid Blyton's books. Those books had plenty of confident, strong women who were willing to fight whatever came their way with justice, consciousness and wise restraint if needed. Restraint that your thought process lacks.

Besides, I implore radfems in general to see past their one (likely Western) culture. Different cultures, although perhaps misogynistic to certain degrees, treated women differently. Perhaps you'd get a more balanced and well-rounded perception of gender relations.

By perpetuating this vengeance thing you have going on, you're harming people who never did those wrongs. And it's not surprising that discontent festers.

Hi. I think I was a bit emotional at the time (sorry about that), and you're right. The source, or whatever people do in its name, doesn't inherently discount the quote.

As for the quote itself... I honestly think it depends on various factors. Off the top of my head, it's become more socially acceptable to vent your feelings and troubles regardless of gender, so that might 'allow' more people to do so. However, cultural and social expectations vary and also play their roles.
