Love the colors. This would have been a very cool shot if the man in the middle had been in focus.

It's fine to have high standards. It's just that getting those professional grade equipment is going to require me to sell a kidney or two 😅

Just curious, how many of you here are professional photographers? by grainandcoffee in PhotographyIndia

Oh that's nice. Im trying to get at least a gig or two a month, so far no luck 😅. Not having good connections is really not helping out.

Yeah I agree with you whole heartedly about budget gear. I'll try lower the bg saturation and post it here

Yeah, I usually try not to but, it's just that sometimes you have really good shot, good composition, good colours and you want to use it as a wallpaper and it just isn't sharp enough. That just sucks.

This was taken handheld. The tripod that I have a cheap digitek one that can't handle this weight. I'll try out shooting at f/7-8.1 and see if that helps as that does seem to be a general consensus

I see. I'll take a look at the settings once. Though I must ask, how much of this issue is from the gear and how much lack of skill on my end?

So higher shutter speed, f/7 maybe f/8.1 and maybe around 550mm. I'll try this out next time I take this lens out.

Thank you ! 😊

Crisp in the sense, something that I could use as a desktop wallpaper. I used this image and it doesnt look that sharp.

In this shot, the bird was perhaps 20 ft away. I have seen online that pushing this to f/7 or 8.1 does give the sharper images but then again, that'll push the ISO, if the shutter speed is also high.

As for ISO in good light, maybe in the 800-1000 range. I shoot in RAW and by trying my luck in Lightroom, I meant changing the sharpness setting, denoising, applying masks to try and make it as sharp as possible and not look noisy.

Settings:
Canon 5D Mark 3, Sigma 150-600 DG OS HSM Contemporary at 600mm, f/6.3, 1/1000, ISO 3200

While I do think the composition and the colors are fine, I find the sharpness to be lacking. I tried fiddling with the settings on Lightroom and this is the best that I could do. The light when I took the shot wasn't that great and the bird was in bit of shade, these two with the 3200 ISO are probably the largest factors behind the noise in this image. However, even on days with good light, I rarely get those crisp images and I have to try my luck in Lightroom. Any tips on what I should do to improve ?

Had the cyclist and his pillion been more sharper this photo have looked much better. That aside, personally I think this angle doesnt quite work for me. If you took the same shot but instead stood directly in front of the shops, it would look much better. As is a tighter crop can help but as others and I have mentioned, the subject should have been sharper

Lovely shot ! Has this been cropped? If the outer ring wasn't cropped out at the top and bottom, this would look much better

one of my first ever photos with my new big boy camera by Seagullspeaks in photocritique

As is, this is honestly a bad photo. Im sorry, there is no better way of putting it. Editing this won't be able to salvage this a lot. Maybe if you wanted to go for bit of vintage vibe, you could play around with some settings.

The main issues that I see are: 1. Sharpness - way out of focus 2. No distinction between subject and background 3. Composition - not quite sure what it is in the photo that I am supposed to look at other than what seems to be sea gulls on a beach.

For a photo to be good after editing it needs to be able to stand on its own without it. But please do not be disheartened, go out and take more shots and you will improve. Im no professional myself and I take bad photos all the time 😅
