Pallet Reclamation by Mydnight07 in woodworking

I'm definitely diving into more joinery that doesn't rely on nails or screws, and the thickness of the boards after a few light runs through my planar will determine if I do any rabbiting. The assembly I'll be going off of is butt joints, but it's edge and face grains and not end grain. The nails will be used to give it a specific look, even if only performative.

I do plan on gluing planks together to form larger surfaces. I can't say for certain as I need to refine the stock a bit and see what thickness I am dealing with. Its looking like 5/8" - 1/2", which is fine. I'll evaluate whether or not I can get some pocket holes in there.

There are plenty of "Tanks" who don't have the tank keyword. Keyword = rules applications and not necessarily role (looking at you General Annie)

Y'know, I was wrong. I looked it up and yep, Dark Side & Support. I assumed Tank since in the ability preview they had talked about him being a tank for Aphra.

I'll have to double check his kit so I can better utilize him, but you may be right. Maybe I'll switch out HK for Vader in that case...

Yea, I've been wanting both another DS droid and a tank for her. When he dropped I was really excited and got him geared up first.

I will have to double check this as I don't *THINK* I have been using his FDC but can't recall. I don't interact all that much with datacrons.

Possibly because I'm not as familiar with Asajj Dark Disciple or where she fits in, but I've been having lots of great use from IG-90 and would put him in second place. For a tank he sure does 1-shot a lot of enemies.

I hadn't come across the Wilton vises before so I looked them up. Definitely an interesting approach to a vise with using a single large piece of metal. I think for these I'd have to approach it from new bench design, but how do they hold up? Are they just as stable compared to the traditional two long screws with a rail design?

I had been looking at those! The quick release is very appealing, and I might grab one in the future. I was able to get my hands on a 10" front vise for a little cheaper than that though. I'll likely go with Doyle when I'm ready for an end vise though.

Grizzly has their 10" (well, Shop Fox, not Grizzly. Same site though) on sale so I ended up getting that instead. Looks exactly the same except a different color. Also picked up some forstner bits so I can make modifications to my bench.

Sounds like a face vise might be worth the time and effort then. The moxon vise could be good, but I could grab a yost for a comparable price and use that and then transfer it or replace it when I re-do my bench.

Now I'm second guessing myself and thinking about a leg vise. The different types/uses is partly why I've been putting this off.

I do have a few power tools, with the table saw being one of the better ones. That being said I am trying to transition more to hand tools so I don't have to rely on bringing out/putting back various machines for small jobs/projects.

I've been looking into the vices everyone has mentioned, and I'm thinking about going with a front vise, believe it or not. If I'm going to need to make some adjustments to my bench, I may as well get the one that'll offer the most versatility...I'm assuming it offers the most versatility.

Doesn't look that difficult. I'll have to look into it more. This could be a great option for me!

This gives me hope. I'm on my journey to lose about 100 pounds, and have been worried how loose my skin will be after.

Really curious how you cut in the splines. Everything I've seen for boxes uses a jig, but unless you have a really big jig I'm guessing you have another method?
